Sadly thats how its been for the last couple pages...

Maybe its cuz summers coming up, and were all ready for summer :D

Luis we should so have a meet-up in Rapid City, South Dakota sometime, so I can actually go! It won't be crowded or anything, plus we'd be surrounded by the black hills, and who doesn't want to see beautiful hills? Plus we could go to Mount Rushmore!

I'd have to trick my parents into letting me go though...I mean seriously, who would want their kid to go hang out with some drunks (sorry Luis :P) and stoners from the internet (even though thats more general forum people)

hmm...that was cool, I just searched for black hills and found a picture with mt. rushmore and the black hills its even labeled

I'm taking a bit of a jump from simple crap coding to real physics and more building off of classes, so if anyone can tell me what they think of my new physics engine, that'd be much appreciated. It's kind of like Flade, but I couldn't deal with the bendable boxes and necessary creating of boundaries through AS, so I made my own "Flade."

Boxes Engine.
[Ignore the character whose physics haven't been put in just yet]

I also couldn't take the jump to do Box2D, since I sadly don't have AS3 just yet.

...and Gust said it was impossible for me to make a working physics engine at all.

Um..why do you show engines before they are even close to being useful for anything? No offense but, there were no real physics behind that flash besides maybe the gravity. The rotation was WAYYYYYYY off, one time they spawned, one box bounced on its edge and then when it stopped bouncing it starting rotating faster and faster and just spun on the spot for forever. Fix it up, or actually, I'd say redo it, cause you won't get anywhere with a fake-ish phys engine.

Um... why make a real dick head comment? No offense but, there was no real critisism in there and any attempt to not sound like a total tool failed. Fix your outlook, or actually, I'd say kill yourself, because you won't get anywhere with such a pretentious attitude.

I thought it was cool at least.

I thought it was cool at least.

If you actually read what Coolio-Niato wrote, he was telling El-Presidente what was wrong with the engine.

List of things:

No Real Physics
Rotation was way off
Spawning Problem

I don't know about you, but those can really help someone fix a game and make it better. It may seem like a dick comment but I see it as a honest opinion that can help El-Presidente. Coolio-Natio knows what he is talking about and he was just stating what was wrong with it instead of saying "I thought it was cool". Also to call someone giving his critic on something a total tool that failed really doesn't help make yourself look better. You also went a step further and told him to kill himself, all because he was helping. Was it really necessary to go that far? Now to me and I'm sure to to others, you just made yourself look like a complete moron. So before you start trying to bash someone, atleast look at where they are coming from.

Artsy Fartsy Stuff
Even though I've always been a crappy animator, I've kind of always wanted to experiment with different styles. It occurred to me that a Jackson Pollockesque abstract thing in Flash would be neat.

FYI, Jackson Pollock was this abstract impressionist artist who threw paint splatters on canvas and called it art.

Now, the question is, I don't know whether people like that sort of thing. So, I ask you, would you view an animation solely on watching paint splatters, calming music, and watching little details in art move around and become animated (ie. the stars in Starry Night by van Gogh)? Should I animate it for the hell of it, regardless?

That would kind of be the point of "experimenting" with different styles. Experimenting isn't really experimenting if it's only public approved experimenting.

It could work, as long as it looks abstract and not like shapes put together. You should try it and see how it goes :).

It's funny watching the new 'regs' vying for Luis' attention and <3

Your Favourite Cartoon Characters

Danger Mouse from Danger Mouse.

- Has an eyepatch
- Skintight, white jumpsuit emblazened with his initials: DM
- Dapper
-Patriotic
- Moral Compass but uses unorthodox methods
- Comes complete with hopeless sidekick, Penfold

He's just the pinnacle of cool; like James Bond but small and furry. How could one not love this character and their antics!?

Goat, from Downtown, Megas XLR and brief cameos in Metalocalypse. Those three shows in themselves are some of the single greatest pieces of animation on mainstream TV.

I always thought that some fractal engine to make stuff similar to Pollock's would be good :) Something for the coders.

I would probably say Raphael of the ninja turtles... he always seemed like the asshole of the bunch... yeah he fought crime and did good things but he always found the people around him to be kind of annoying.

Favorite Cartoon

When I was really young my favorite cartoon was The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. Dunno if anyone has ever seen that one. It had really great cgi scenes in it, the intro rocked and Jessie was incredibly hot. In my mind it's the best cartoon ever made, mainly because it manipulated me into thinking that when I was very young and I haven't bothered to re-watch an episode. I don't know about my favorite cartoon character.
