It was? I thought it was the 23rd, thats what it says on the competition page o__0
I gave up because i thought i didnt have enough time...

Nah, I emailed Dan a few weeks before the deadline so he could expand it. Back then I was working on something big for halloween, but I just made some random mini-game with StickMoose..

hmm, i sort of wish they'd update the page a little more frequently. it still says Mad Vlad hasn't gotten on the front page \:

this has been an interesting first experience for me. i think it goes without saying that AG has left the impression that they are slack on me. i'm wondering if other people will offer the same 'service' and be a little more professional about it..

Read some of my earlier posts on this topic Ram. Inglor and I ended up chatting via IM for some time and I voiced my opinions. He seemed to understand and went over some plans for updated rules and enforcement. This goes for copyrights, deadlines... the whole nine yards.

People called me a crybaby for it... whatever. If you did, fuck off.

I have faith that they'll take care of it though now that opinions have been voiced.

sorry, i was just a little...frusterated. i think that word procures a little strong feeling, but i can't think of another word for it.

I think you guys need to chill out. Sure, this hasn't exactly been the most organised contest, but it's not like they've dramatically slashed the prizes half way through or anything. So long as everyone gets what they deserve and, k, AG pulls their act together a little next year, all's cool.

Incidentially, you forgot to put my front page bonus in again. It's a little irritating that I'd have probably been in the top five before my submission got exposed to NG's front page viewing audience, and I fucking well want my rapage acknowledged.

I'm not saying I deserve the prize - hell, I'm not too happy about how I rushed the fecker, and my loss is someone more deserving's gain. But still, it's a bit of a kick in the crotch to be fading into safe obscurity with a thousand or so views and a nice, prize money getting score of just short of 3.8 one second, then having it suddenly slashed into the greens over the next few days.

I got third place, FTW!

Anyways, most of everyone's complaints don't really make sense. Armorgames is no more than two people, and Inglor currently has other things on his mind, so basically it's only Dan who also has a personal life and other things to do so he can miss someone getting frontpage. In my last mail to him I said mad vlad got frontpage as well. Just email the man.

I'm confused as to what place I got, but I assume I get the same prize whether I'm 4th or 5th, so woo!

It's the same prize, and I don't think anyone's going to differentiate between 4th and 5th when allocating respect to people. Gratz, man :)

I'm a lil annoyed that Halloween Jam got a prize, despite blatantly breaking an important rule that even had caps on some words.
Shame I didn't manage to get a choice prize.
Ah well, guess that trip to Ohio will have to wait some more. :/

i'm a little frusterated with this. while there's really no way me and Blaze could have won (with the rules being followed, anyway), it's still annoying to see others getting things, despite not following the rules.

i think our submission was, what, 30 minutes late? excusable. but monkokio's was a day late, and he gets $500? bullshit!

and also, why are they announcing the winners early? "Games must be submitted by October 23rd 2006. On November 1st 2006, the top games with the highest NG score will be awarded the prizes. All prizes will be paid by November 10th 2006 via Paypal or Check. In the event of a tie, the entry with the most views will earn the higher prize."

it's not November 1st, yet. i'm really confused why they couldn't even go by their own rules. maybe we should start following their footsteps and simply rehash old games of ours and put in liscensed music, and then submit it a couple days late?

some first impression. \:

Gorillaz hello

that's pretty amazing that, not only did he break the rules, but he gets $500 for it.

also, "Create a NEW unique flash game or a NEW unique sequel that is themed after Halloween. The game must be original".

last i looked, DDR was already made. |:

Monkokio won first place ($ 1000) and armor choice award ($ 500).

I think.

A new unique FLASH GAME is what it said, and the game had was in no way related to the actual DDR campaign, logo, or etc. Also it added on to the classical DDR feel with different enemies acting differently as arrows. Also permission for the song to be used in Gorrilaz was accepted "as long as i had bought the song". So overall, people should really become less picky with all of this. Jealousy and envy aren't the way to go.

Jealousy is a normal reaction.
Your game was a rip-off using copyrighted music, don't expect me to be happy. Not that my game was any better, but I would have liked 7th place...

Also, since when does buying a song gives the right to make money off it? I even doubt you even bought it.

That is lame. I mean, SamBakZa bought the CD for 'Sera', the song used in the animation Hot Fish Same But Different but they had to take that animation down because they didn't have full permission from the label.
Buying a CD doesn't necessarily mean you have authorisation to use the songs however you like. It just means you feel a lil less guilty by not downloading it...

Its really question of copyright

---Copyright is the permission to or to not make copies of an object on the web, meaning of copying chunks of information without giving credit to the author, or the actual copying of a piece of information.---

Once looked at it that way, we did give credit to the author, we did not copy and paste but USED the object in question, and awknolodged it to them as well as to others.
