There already were tons of discussions about ranks here but I'm to lazy to find and kick one so I created a new one. Maybe we could get SERIOUS this time >.>

Alright. So we have 5 ranks: Audio, Gold, Platinum, 2x Platinum and Diamond. WAY to less in my opinion. Also, there is a huge gap between standard and gold. But then the sizes of the step aren't increasing drastically. In other words; we need new ranks.

Audio: From 0 dls
Silver: 100
Gold: 500
Platinum: 1000
2x Platinum: 2500
3x Platinum: 5000
Diamond: 10000
2x Diamond: 15000
Crystal: 20000
Angel/Demon(depens if you have dark or light aura: 30000:

Of course, this is just a suggestion. If you have better, just tell it.

For the 100 downloads---> silver, i totally agree. This way, the upcoming artists, after some time( let's say a month), will be more popular just by having a rank.

There's more of a chance the admins take away all the awards then add more. If you make awards more easy to get there will be more self downloading meaning more inaccurate DL's.

i'd still only have one disc to my name anways, so it's fucking pointless. no offence, but at least when you get ur first gold it will be special, especially if you post weird indie music which only monkeys listen to and generally people from europe. most post electro stuff, remixes etc etc and get quick hit's and downloads. then they have the audacity to turn round to us and say 'oh yea it's piss easy getting rankings' but thats cos they make stuff that panders to the masses of NG. my stuff doesn't stand a chance.

This may just be me but I feel Classical artists get the most DESERVED recognition and put out the best effort.

I'm not saying all the others suck. I like quite a few pieces from other sections.

I think the way it is now is adequate. The only change I would make is to add something past diamond, that requires 10k or so, so those with a lot of plats and diamonds still have something to look forward to.

These are all good ideas, and have been discussed numerous times before, but perhaps all this should be in the thread for AP changes.

I think the entire thing should be thrown out - no gold - no silver - none of the above.

Should theratings saty, then I think only one download per IP/account should be applied toward the ratings.

But the shiny icons work as rewards, they make audio artists feel accomplished and motivate them to make more great music. We live in a country where competition drives us! Everyone would like their songs to be on the top charts and everyone would like to have shiny icons in their audio page. If you threw out charts and icons then a lot of artists may not try as hard.

I know an example to crush and slaughter my point would be OCR, but the thing is, since it's already so hard to get your remix accepted to that site that it's practically a gold/platinum album for every song that you get on there.

And yeah I think that 25.000 is abit too high to start applying the % ratings. I should include the crowns and Crystal as % too =] (from 10.000)

I understand your logic with the self-downloading idea, but that would make downloads have less significance if they simply were treated like experience. I think they uploaded should be able to download as much as they want, but their IP won't get counted in the DL stat. Putting a 2 or 3 DL count limit per IP a day wouldn't be a bad idea, but I think it would have to be coupled with an artist dl nullifier of some sort.

I don't think so, there is no pride in self-downloading and WE ALREADY can do that, except without any limits. I like the "one download counts per IP and one download ONLY!" idea, so people can download their tracks all they want but it won't count except for once.

What I think would be a great improvement to the AP, and I know this has been mentioned before, would be experince points for voting on audio and blam/protect kinda stuff.

Actually, I kind of like this idea right here.

Just imagine what we would have to do once some audio surpasses 25,000 downloads. Will we have to make an award that ends up showing up once they receive 50,000+ downloads?

Chaoz Devotion has about 30000 downloads. That means that there is certainately a option for a 50000+ download symbol :)

Heh, I'd be lucky to ever see one-hundred, let alone 30,000 downloads.

Then again, I used Fruity Loops, so it is understandable.

I hadn't browsed through the AP in a long while, so I never knew that a track had reached such an elite number of downloads. I think it's time to re-visit.

I don't like the idea of awarding new icons for any songs under 300 DLs. Anything under 300 DLs is a small download amount, and we don't want like 15 different symbols/icons. I stand by what I suggested earlier:

plastic - 0
bronze - 300
silver - 500
gold - 1000
platinum - 2000
2x platinum - 4000
diamond - 8000

And we don't want icons for anything over 8,000 DLs either, since it's rare to find a song that's been downloaded that much and there will be only a couple of "Super Duper Ruby Diamond Angel Mega Thingie" records.

You never know, though. Before you know it, the Audio Portal might blow up and people will be downloading tracks like crazy. Right now, there might not be a need to discuss this, but you never know when that surge in the AP will take us by surprise.
