Why hippies

Why does TV emphasise that people hate hippies. They may be poor but they get so much sex. I'd be willing to make that sacrifice.

Wanting to get rid of land ownership and government seems pretty extreme too me. They're stoned, but they're more stupid and do possess extreme ideas.

A hippie is someone who lives entirely off the land, away from society. The vast majority of hippies died out in the early seventies when it became mainstream and lost all of its original meaning. So no, they don't want everything handed to them without offering anything in return, in fact they give and take nothing from society.

What a hippie is referred to nowadays is a left-wing stoner with long hair that wears beads and goes on about saving the trees. They too are a minority, and so aren't a huge infringement on any society.

Not really a topic worth discussing, especially considering the gross amount of stereotypes thrown around when people discuss hippies.

This, although a generalisation, is often true.

There is a hippie commune not far from where I live. Seeing as I’m a liberal libertarian I get on with them easily enough. And I sometimes get fucked with a few of them.

But many of them are very stuck up. Mainly the middle class ones I’ve noticed. And although I wouldn’t call them lazy, they have to do a far amount of physical labour to keep the commune in good nick, they admittedly don’t contribute towards society and expect society to support them.

ITS just hard to be around them for long periods of time because of the smell. In collage we used to ga to this park on sundays at 4;20 ,and everyone would be singing folk songs playing drums and things. smoking lots of pot. fun times. but the girles were very hairy and everyone smelled. I also got to know members of the Rainbow family, and when entering there house I wished I had a gasmask.lol good people in general just bad hygene.

It's brainwashing. Hippies didn't stand for anarchy or communism. They may have held those opinions, but for the most part, they stood for free speech, and exorcising that right to the fullest. They believed that, if a particular action that the government was taking didn't satisfy you, then you should stand up and reject it. Of course, the current government didn't like that, especially during a time of war where there was much to gain, so they tore down the counter-culture altogether, by responding to protest rallies with violence, banning the recreational use of narcotics (often seen as the cause of this civil disobedience), and by labeling hippies as degenerate commies who hate America (and smell really bad).
