And did you mention Jesus? Hahah, I forget where that quotes from. It's a boxing movie. Anyone here excited for the inauguration tomorrow?

Oh'my deary me, that has actualy happened, when I was on a school trip to Alton Towers and we stopped at one of the service stations in the morning, I wanted some cola and they were charging £2 something, so I pulled out a "scottish tenner" the lassie said "Sorry I cant accept that" and then, just like your man in the video proclaimed, I did say "a think you will find thats legal tender, because the queens head on it" Michael McIntyre got us down to a T their with the airport aswell, some <3 for that "english bastard pounds" lololol

Unless you have your laptop hooked up to 1080P tv with Svideo and speakers =D
Its pretty good quality for me, on a 37" 1080p. Got it on boxing day, watched the new Bond a few days ago.

I have a 37" 1080p screen as well, but no way in hell a laptop is able to playback 30Mbit MPEG-4 video
in 1080p. I have to use a stationary (Intel Q6600, nVidia PureVideo / ffdshow SSE) unless of course you have the new 45nm Intel processors with SSE4.1
Try watching Planet Earth on the scene with those thousands of birds, or any movie with rain (matrix 1 for instance, when neo exits the car after getting "debugged")

Haha I thought you might like it anyway, 'cause although he was making jokes about Scottish people they weren't offensive or anything ahaha. I was working on a rig up yesterday for a play that's come in to the theatre and the lighting programmer was a Scottish guy, he kept wandering off though and coming back he'd be be like "ohh what are you doing now then?" it was quite funny.

Wow, I just watched Max Payne, and I have to say, it was REALLY cool. I wish they would make a sequel. There was something about the darkness that made it awesome.

Sounds good, I'll get it now.

Broadband

Mind fuck, got up this morning with ADSL down, not happened before as far as I remember (since 2004) so I called Virgin, they were REALLY HELPFUL which is a mind fuck in itself, but anyway, they were like "Just need to test your adsl filter, do you have a spare?" and I was like "no" so they said I need to get one and if it is a fault with the line it'll take 5 working days to fix, so I'm pissed off. I go to the kitchen for a packet of crisps, sit down and eat them, walk around for a bit, sit back down and suddenly it's all working again.

I R HAPPY.

Pff, you call that an outage. I regularly have to reset my modem because it crashes under high load (think: yum, torrents, ...), and have gone through about 5 splitters already.

If so, yeah, really good film. With great performances by the two leads.

Since it's all movie talk around here I watched The Business night before last and Elephant last night. The Business was great. Started Danny Dyer, who's an excellent actor and although the plot was a bit over the top at times, it was a really good British crime film. Elephant, I'd say avoid. Trys far too hard to be abstract and usually just fails at it. Last half an hour or so is interesting but other than that... Watch Zero Day instead. Both films came out around the same time and deal with the same subject, Zero Day was shot on a smaller budget and does it so much better though.

You should try to get Linksys WRT54G/GS/GL and flash it with Tomato :D (i haven't had to reset since i did that, and it's been under quite some load since then)

No, I don't want wifi, so that's useless.
I was going to buy the Linksys AM200, and put a switch behind it. From what I read it's good and stable, and I want to get away as far as possible from the D-Link crap we have now.

When downloading from the iTunes store I've actually gotten speeds of 1.2mb/s+ on a decent connection. Their file serving is SICK.

I've had a pretty bad experiences with several NETGEAR routers. The first one I bought was DOA. The second one died after about 3 weeks. The third (current) one needs to be restarted every day, because the wi-fi craps out if isn't.

:Fuck netgear, my next router's gonna be a Linksys or D-Link

I love university. I'm about to here a talk from Joel Spolsky. I can't say that I've ever read his blog, but he's a fairly big name in the industry. Later this month, there's a talk from Richard M. Stallman. They have some really cool people come to talk to us. It's really cool. I'll let you know how it went.

Well it was one of thoes self service things, and I had drank quarter of the cup when I got to the till, so it was either she accepted the money and or take back a cup of juice they couldnt sell. Also their were a hlaf dozen behind me paying with notes. They accepted pound coins no problem though? lol we used to have £1 notes. And a tryied to buy something in blackpool once and they thought it was fake money :) And am glad you met a nice guy and no a cunt, we do get many of them here, that shame the rest of us to no end.

Yeyeye that's the one. I was actually quite gutted he got arrested. I mean, fair enough he deserved it but lets face it he was fucking cool ;D

I had a Belkin one, it was shit and didn't like Macbook Pro's. Got a Netgear one now, it goes offline sometimes (although I think that's actually my crappy broadband rather than the router) but apart from that it's fine... much better than that Belkin POS.

At 1/22/09 02:53 PM, Jon-86 wrote: They accepted pound coins no problem though? lol we used to have £1 notes. And a tryied to buy something in blackpool once and they thought it was fake money :)

Hahaha the joys of self service ey? See I don't see her problem, I imagine a bank will have just changed it for her if she asked, or if she paid it in it'd just have gone in as normal. I doubt she checked the pound coins. And I don't see why they though pound notes were fake money, afaik we used to have pound notes down here too a few decades ago.

Talking of pound coins, I once got handed some dodgy coin from New Zealand that was similar to a pound coin but not. I had a quick look to see how much it was worth and it was only like 33p or something so I handed it to a shopkeep with a bunch of other coins and got rid of it :')

And am glad you met a nice guy and no a cunt, we do get many of them here, that shame the rest of us to no end.

Haha yes he was okay though. I know another Scottish lighting guy too worked with him on a few jobs he's a legend too. I've had good experiences with the Scottish so far hahaha.

Anyway thats me away for a wee while folks! A will be back when am back.

Have fun on your travels.
