It was alright, their has been stuff happening all week in the town. Their have been demos and protests etc and then people started marching on the street. Since you cant just to that the police tried to move them but they were outnumbered. Today was the first time a was able to get up their. Their was an offical march the day that went through the council so the police were only to watch and video us like normal and stop trouble makers if they can be arsed, like normal. It was well organised and a few thousand people attended and overal people in the streets were cheering the march, which was good. Their were a few speaches at the rally from the people that were talking earlier in tthe week. We got some news of what was happening over their and why. And the organisers said thanks for showing up.

Their was a wee report written about it by RSF quoted below:

"Press Release/Preas Ráiteas

Republican SINN FÉIN Poblachtach

This afternoon members of the Francis Hughes cumman Republican Sinn Féin Glasgow took to the streets in a demonstration through Glasgow city centre for the ending of Israel's massacres in Gaza, The demonstration which was attended by round about 1,000 people from different organisations.

When the crowd assembled they were surrounded by heavy police force due to the heavy numbers, The Protest never took off till a while later, When all was sorted the demonstration began, The crowd were chanting all the way through the city centre, The public took well to the demonstration with people clapping there hands to the crowd a few people tried to disturb the demonstration with launching abuse and insults which was intervened immediately by the police.

At the end of the demonstration speakers gathered to say a few words, Speakers from different organisation such as Glasgow Palestinian Human Rights Campaign (GPHRC), SPSC, Muslim association of Britain and others, The speakers spoke about the lack of medical supplies heading into Gaza and how the help that MAP, Unicef and Palestinian aid has been making, They also spoke about how no amount of rocket attacks justifies Israel's cruel attacks over the past week, One speaker said Israel calls for democracy but what kind of democracy attacks innocent people and said the only reason they are doing these attacks is from the weapons coming from the US and called for Barak Obama to stand up and speak out now for the people of Palestine, He also called for the people of Scotland & Palestine to stand together and says the fight of the Palestinians is not just the fight for Palestine or Scotland or just the fight for the UK but the fight of the whole world.

The demonstration was then ended with the crowd gathering and chanting Free Palestine, With posters and banners waving different slogans such as Freedom for Palestine and George Bush No#1 Terrorist.

HOW'S THIS FOR PROGRAMMING??

I have a CapitalOne credit card. I've had it for a while now. I constantly buy cheap, pointless things from a variety of websites. They've never questioned any of my purchases as fraud. Yesterday, someone fraudulently got a hold of my credit card number. They made a $2.99 purchase, a 2 $4.95 purchases, and a $3.95. Within a few hours of those purchases, CapitalOne caught the fraud and restricted my account. How impressive is that? Such tiny purchases on the internet which I make a TON of, and they pick out those 4 fraudulent ones right away? I was certainly impressed, as a programmer. That's some system.

Sounds more like spying to me ;-)

Unless the purchases made ARE something you would make in that case they could have some alarm type system setup on the payment gateway. They control this gateway and sites that support your type of credit card need to go through it, so its not the case of them detecting things on different sites. Its a case of them checking and smartly analysing their own logs on their system.

Farud is the number one way these companies lose money, so its bound to be the priority in tearms ov developing counter measures. If the purchases were made in an actual shop it might not have been detected as quickly. Or they may have simply made on large purchase, which is common. Such is my knowledge of these systems and dealings.

I remember once one of my Dads cards got blocked once, all he'd ever used it for really was small purchases, probably nothing more than £100 at most. Then one day he bought a £1700 computer. My Dad was well annoyed, but I think kudos to the card company, in all fairness all he had to do was call them up and they unbarred it. Least they made an effort.

This has happened a couple of times for us. Way back when AOL was the hot thing and they were using AOL at the shop for internet, the then office manager got an email from "AOL" asking for the credit card and yadda yadda. Stupidly she gave it to them and I think 17 $100 purchases were made and American Express called up and asked if they bought all of that stuff.

I don't remember what the other one was but it all depends on your spending patterns and frequency of use. The way that I've used my card, I'm surprised that I haven't gotten a call from my bank lol.

Is it worth downloading? All the clips I've seen of it I think are brilliant, but I've never seen an episode.

Or just careful checking :-/ like how decent sys-admins know how to go through server logs to find stuff. But their might be some AI thrown in their for good measure, you know something that recognises and can learn patterns, its no that hard to do really. You can even get ANNs to train theirself in some situations.

An Artificial Intelligence to check patterns, spending habits, whatever the case, they system they've implemented seems to be pretty effective. Well at least in DFox's situation. Anyone else use CapitalOne?

Yeah it really is, because I was looking at my spending habits and history with them, and it's very erratic. I make a ton of small purchases, but then all of a sudden I'll buy something for $200. And those never raised any sort of flag. And then some $1.99 and $5 purchases are marked as fraudulent shortly after they are made...

I think they are doing it by matching the charges against other reports of fraud for commonly used fraud purchases for small amounts.
