no noooooo. If you don't have good grades, you're not doomed, that's not what I'm saying, what I'm saying is, if you don't have the grades and qualifications and you don't have a specific talent, for example programming, what is someone going to employ you for?
"Oh well, he hasn't got any qualifications, and he isn't really good at anything, but let's employ him anyway!". It doesn't happen.
I make websites. Find all threads by a user, Top Newgrounds BBS posters, Newgrounds account ID, Link to specific posts and whatever else I have listed at m00d.net

when you step into an interview room; all they know about you is what your grades are, that interview is your chance to prove you're motivated, prove you've got something to offer.
not with that attitude, sir.
idk if you read through my post but srsly dont be so negative, you need to have a good attitude towards things if you wanna get anywhere

I do get what you're saying, but it just doesn't happen unless you want the job badly. I would love to have a job doing web development, but it won't happen, so Instead I'm going to have to work somewhere else, so when I go for a job, like Tesco, they'll get my CV and they'll see, "No GCSE's" so they'll just toss away my CV because they get so many applications from people and a lot do have CV's.
In an ideal world qualifications wouldn't matter, but stupidly, they do.

of course you're going to have to work somewhere where we don't want to work, it's one of your first jobs, but when the time comes where you decide to move jobs, if you've been good where you work, your boss writes up about you and how you work (forgot the official name for it); but as i said, if you've been doing good then your next employer will have some idea how you work and will decide to take you on, but it's down to how you work in the real world, not in school.

Not so much luck; Microsoft's success lies in the business decisions that Bill Gates took. I.e. provide 'good enough' software for hardware vendors to stick on any machine they desired, cutting their costs in software engineering; whilst simultaneously killing off the competition (effectively forcing users of MS-DOS to upgrade to Windows, and killing off third party office suites). Contracts with computer vendors allowed Microsoft to charge a pittance for a Windows install on a new machine, and so they could keep their prices competitive, and crucially, a lot lower than Apple's.
It's not necessarily that Windows is a good product; it's merely so entrenched that people never bother to install a different OS - and most frankly don't care. ICT courses teach Microsoft Office on new PCs. Most people (read: not computer enthusiasts) don't know Linux exists.

In case anyone wondered, it costs 60 dollars to get a laptop power chord. And that's with a discount. Too expensive.

Not too sure. My battery icon started going inbetween the charging symbol and the battery symbol for a little while, then didn't charge anymore. I unplugged and plugged back in everything, and when I did, I heard a sizzling noise coming from the box on the chord. It smelled bad, too.
So, I figured it would be a good time to get a new one.

Probably a good idea. Although one of mine broke one time, and there was just a little wire inside that had snapped and so it got re-soldered and bam works again.

Not really, I used a mixture of Stylish and Adblock Plus.

Hurray </plug>
Considering the stereotypical NG user is a 12-13 year old fatty from the US we might not be the best target audience for this project - but I really like the idea and I wish it all the success.

Most NG users are from the US?
I can see this going down a bad road.

But the way you said it. You said considering the average NG'r is from the US, we might not be the right target audience.

Someone did that with my sig on Shawn's forums and someone made a big deal about it. I was fine with it because I need to make a new one and have no creativity anymore except for video editing/production lol. However, I took a career personality test this morning for a class and ended up getting results that said I'm artistic and really like art and a bunch of other stuff.

That's probably not true anymore since people do tend to get older but maybe not more mature. So a statement like "the average NG user has the maturity of a 10 year old" might be a better statement for general use. I would also go out on a limb and say that UK vs US might be more balanced on NG.

Well stereotypically Americans are stupid* and greedy**. Plus with the state of your economy at the moment you don't have much money floating around.
