By any chance, does anyone use OmniPageSE as their picture viewer? I'm having saving issues saving my documents with it. It wants to convert written text and stuff to funky typed text and on top of that it won't save as a tiff or pdf file, just as a doc, rtf of omnipage file where if you want to look at the file or print it, you have to open the whole program, which is something I don't want. It's a pain, I went to their site, to upgrade to version 15 ($150) so that I can save to pdf, which I don't even know if that will distort my documents either. Soooo does anyone have experience with this program?

Hey, im brand new to the world of RSS and XML.
To my knowledge they allow users to check if there is new content on a site, without visiting it.
Im guessing the .xml file is all dynamically driven, but is there a way to manually update it ?
Sorry if this is a little stupid, but like i said... im brand new to RSS and XML.

Actually, they can be either static or dynamic. You can use a PHP file to get database stuff and do one of two things...one, you can put the .php file in the XML/RSS reader, or you can do what I do and have that PHP file write the .xml file. Otherwise, you just edit it manually.
I really don't like RSS and XML, I only use it for my podcast and my blog feed...it's probably not valid or anything, but it works.
On another note, Battle of the Bands is tonight! My first show, wish me luck!

Yeah i got it thanks btw (The RSS).
It was a simple matter of looking at the source of someones feed, and working it out from there.

Yes, it is very very easy - only 3 tags!
But i'd recomend not naming your files .xml, use .rss instead because then you know that it is just rss.
But also, it might be worth a go learning some Xsl, then you can show your xml/rss data in a table or something.

Looks really good.
I have the CRAZIEST story. I know some of you talk about how your school administrators don't know much about computers, but I think this will top any story of that sort.
In our school, each student and teacher gets a personal account on the school network that they log into every time they use a computer. So, on these accounts, students store all their files, which can range from powerpoints to word documents to much more personal data. Teachers store grades, tests, lessons, and other things of that sort.
Somehow, I have no clue how, the whole shared directory (where all student accounts and teacher accounts are stored) became exposed to EVERYONE. This means that: Any student can browse and look at any other students or TEACHERS files. Already, teachers tests, grades and lots of other stuff have been exposed. Not only that, but it's not even hacking. The folders are simply there for everyone to see on the shared drive.
It is unbelievable how a firm that is probably getting paid a few hundred thousand dollars a year to maintain the districts network could let this happen.
I'm pretty upset because I hope people didn't see any private files I had, and luckily I was able to delete them all today. In addition, people using portable firefox on their account may have exposed their passwords because cookies are stored in that same directory.

Dfox, was it just read-only files or could you edit/delete them?

That's kind of scary, especially if those files can be edited to change the students' grades and to get the answer keys to tests and stuff. That firm should be fired! I hope that someone at the school knows about that problem.

that shouldn't be a worry, sites almost never store passwords as plaintext in a cookie, it's usually some kind of hash.

That isn't the case with newgrounds.
Paste this into your address bar while on newgrounds:
javascript:alert(document.cookie)

Just read only.

You can say that again. The school knows about it now, but it's pretty much to late to stop all damage.

Yeah, and I had my Newgrounds password saved, but luckily I got on the computer first thing in the morning at school and wiped it.
Also, access to any other cookie could end up just as bad because if people can access your session cookies they can hijack your session. So if I was logged into a site, even if it's not password in the cookie, grabbing my PHP session cookie would allow a person to be logged in as me now.

If you are starting to get really annoyed with newgrounds/people on it, take a little break from it. Try out another site(such as digg, or youtube) and when you feel like you really want to go back, come back and you will enjoy it.
Always works.

digg or youtube would annoy me even more probably. And I go to plenty of other sites, but everyone's so damn inactive in the weekends :(

I bet most people here use Notepad++?
I've got a weird problem with it... Everytime I do Ctrl-z, it freezes and I have to close it from the task manager. Anyone else's got that problem?

You could just go to Edit > Undo instead of using the shortcut key.
Or maybe try downloading again? From a diferent mirror?
