Snare effect

In fruityloops, how do you make the snare have that effect that sounds like the first half of the sound the repeating really fast? I can't really explain it,but you hear it in alot of DNB songs.

that's done by cutting the audio track up. if you're using a VST or other drum synth, you'll need to get the snare audio file seperately and cut it yourself, overlapping will just sound like shit.

I dont really get the effect that he means, could you explain it to me djcityscrape, only afaict, it could just be a delay effect :S

i kinda doubt it's delay, there generally isn't to much echo in DNB.

Hmmm, i always thought there was some in ALL dnb, but i've not got around to trying it yet.
But anyway, apologies for getting your name wrong,
I still dont get what he means tho, unless its perhaps how the beat is constructed,,,?

Yeah that'd explain it, as it has a similar attack with no release compared to the 2/4 4/4.

I think so :P
Now to answer the question:
I know what your talking about in DnB, what I do is I use 3 snares, one for the drum beat and the other two for that little roll thing in the middle of each beat. what I do is I get snare 2 to play, then right after use snare 3, then right after again snare 2 and then snare3. It sorta gives the desired output :P
