The "emiticonisation" Collab

Hey, everyone. After three and a half months of solid meditation on a toilet seat i managed to crap out a good idea.

After the "When Farm Animals Attack" Collab hit the roof with front page i was wrapped, but i'm back to put another set of authors to the test. I'm hosting a new collab called the "EMITICONISATION" Collab and i plan to once again get a few chuckles out of the Newgrounds community.

The "EMOTICONISATION" Collab will require each author to animate a 10 to 30 second piece about how MSN emoticons can talk to our friends, total strangers and sometimes piss some folks off. Emoticons can do that. You just need to know how. Imagination is the key.

Try to stick more to slapstick comedy, rather than the usual easy laugh out of killing someone. A few cybernetic homicides are however acceptable, as long as not everyone resorts to killing in their animation.

There's your topic. Now, for requirements:

Window size set to 550 by 400 and frame rate set to 25 fps.

All animations must have an MSN emoticon related story. Animating a computer is not necessary for those who can think of a way to use emoticons in other ways.

The primary deadline is set to 15th of October while the final deadline is set to the 30th of October. If all parts are in and editing is completed before the final deadline, the cartoon will be submitted sooner.

Note: The time being used for this collab's deadlines will be the standard Newgrounds Time. That means that on the midnight of a deadline specified day, its deadline will expire.

Extensions MIGHT be granted to those who seriously need them.

First thing we need is a candidate list. Once we have roughly 20 candidates we're taking no more.

Last but not least: Co-authoring priviledges will be awarded to the 4 best animated pieces.

Very Unique Idea.
He's talking about the buddy icons; The emotions and what not. On MSN. I know what they look like. They are just the regular emotions.

A way of displaying buddy icons would be on a computer monitor or on a piece of paper or on a billboard like on the MSN ads. Whatever you can think of is an idea worth exploring.

Think about this: "What does one emoticon say and what reaction could the guy on the receiving end have?"

If you came up with a cartoon idea you just answered that question yourself.

I already sent a few private messages to some old pals from the previous collab. I'm sad to inform that TheHappySheep won't be joining us, since he began studying at uni and getting drunk with his mates again. We'll all miss him dearly. What the exact idea is would be easier explained like this:

What do you tell someone when you send him a :) or a :( or a <3 or any other emoticon you can think of?

What happens when you flood someone's screen with smileys? What happens when you can only talk with emoticons?

Use your immagination and come up with something that's funny.

Funny test: If you laugh at your own idea without forcing yourself then it's funny.

Well, whilst there's truth in what you say, there's no valid example for this subject, because there's lots of things you can do with emoticons. Possibilities are almost infinite.

Once we get enough interest, i'll give the go ahead for current candidates to start animating.

I'll give this a few more days before closing the applications. In the meantime, we have company. More talents that bring our candidates list up to 9 Authors. That's just enough to make this collab happen. More authors would be good though.

Alright than.
Make sure you're good quality work and not half assed. Last collab we had entries that looked like no potential were put into it at all. So try your hardest. We don't have any examples of your work either since you're like new. Hopefully you're good.

I don't like when people do the 20 spots only thing. Lets be honest, some people either wont bother to finish or will be unable to. I think the most sensible thing is to allow hoever many people want to join, to join. Then if some back out thats fine. You can always say that only the best will be allowdin but now that the submission size limit has been raised there shouldnt really be any problems, right?

As Massimo said, I wont be joining as I'm kinda busy but also because to be honest the whole idea just doesnt interest me very much. If anything strikes me I might join but i will watch it unfold anyway and maybe offer some help where i can.

Well I think Massimo has to do some work...You know? It is his collab. He'll be getting credit for it as well. I believe he should make atleast one piece. Or an introduction animation/ scene selection/ and menu screen you know.
