It's perfect.
Gonna use it. It's done, and done.

But I will cause I like reading books before the movies.
unfortunately, i DL'd the trailer, and didn't like what i saw.
Damn. Why did Douglas Adams have to go and die in America?

Yeah--
That was my first impression too. Although I always wanted to read the book, and I saw some REALLY old BBS episodes that look like they were made during the 80s.
But at the same time, I'm banking on the "I-will-be-mildly-suprise" and will go watch the movie when it comes out.

Speaking of cotton, our parrot likes to poo and chew on cotton. Cotton is King it seems, down south.
I'm still waiting for the Confederacy here.

Thankyou Maus!!!
Now I can finally say that I'm no longer a ban virgin! Whoohoo! =D
And I apoligise for responding to teh n00b. I'm afraid I must have missed Shrikey's post about not doing that. (Or if I did see it I've completely forgotten) But at least I know now. :-)
It also gave me a good reason to spam up Zeke's forums, with an entire new thread about it!

Why does everyone feel like this movie is doomed before they've even seen it?
I can understand being worried about it, but seriously... WTF?
Douglas Adams wanted a "HUGE HOLLYWOOD MONSTROSITY". His last years were spent trying to make it happen.
Quite frankly, I'd much rather have a movie that is only half as good as the book, rather than be stuck with that wretched BBC miniseries from the early 80s. You want to talk about a version that sucked... that was it. This movie could fall flat on its face and still be better than that.
But I think this movie will be a good translation of the book. I think it will be funny, and I think that anyone who has done more than a token amount of research will feel the same way. Afterall, his family and close friends helped out and oversaw the entire creative process. And if anyone knows what he would have wanted, they would.

?! For heaven's sake! READ THE BOOK. I hate to sound pompous, but you have no basis to pass any judgement now.

I've been trying to get my brother to read them, but now that's there's a movie coming out, he's more interested. I'm lending H2G2 to him tonight... let's see how long that takes him before I give him the rest.

Depends on if he reads it at all. It should take anyone no more than a couple of days.
I suggest discussing the book with others and making references to the book in front of him. (can you say Triple-Breasted Whore of Eroticon 6?) Maybe even show him the google page that answers the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything... Anything to get him to actually read it.

It took me a little over a day to read it... off and on, because it was during the week after my surgery and the percocet kept knocking me out.
I also first read Ender's Game during that week as well. And re-read Neverwhere for the millionth time.
My brother's just started reading HP4, and that's going to take him forever.
OMG last week he went to HP meetup with me, but we were late and missed everyone. So we stayed to walk around the bookstore and he told me that even though he loves playing video games, the bookstore is SO much better than the game store.
I'm entering a contest for Weezer tickets! Wish me luck!

Ooooh, good luck! <3 Weezer. I love the Harry Potter series also. At first before I had ever read them I was like "oh man, you fucking nerds and your children's book", but I read it and it's so awesome. :D I can't wait until she releases the "half blood prince". lol@nerdyme.

Perhaps I was too harsh in my statements? I like all of the EG books I've read. And OSC's other books are all fairly good.... but...

No, that was a good book...
See, it's like this...
Ender's Game > Speaker For The Dead > Xenocide > Children of the Mind >= Ender's Shadow > Shadow of The Hegemon ... and the last book I haven't read.
I just think the series has been in a downward spiral since the original. Now, don't take that the wrong way... They're all great books. I've read much, much worse. Understand? I give them, and OSC praise, but they have been sliding downhill since EG.

YES
Which reminds me, I just finished reading Lost Boys, excellent book, even though I thought it was a little long for what is was and added a bit too much extra story. I cried, as always. God, I'm such a sap when reading books. And watching Oreo and Friendly's commercials. Oddly enough, I don't cry at many movies, except SLC Punk I think, the first time I watched it.

I read the back of a scope bottle once....
And HP is frighteningly good, good because it's well written, and frightening because that implies I read on the same level as an 11 year old.
I've slowed down in a reading a bit, but that's mainly because I have to read so much damn philosophy for school. Damn aristotle and his long winded repetitive ass!

Because 2,000 years of "For God so loved the world" doesn't trump 1.2 million years of "Survival of the Fittest."
