...fucking around with my douchebag car!!11! Apparently now I'm looking at the distributor. A few final checks tomorrow, then I'm calling a bunch of connections I made today trying to get a cheaper used distributor. Store wants $216 for a remanufactured, give me a break! Especially if it turned out to not be the problem? My ass would be grass.

Ah car trouble, that brings back so many memories, speaking of which I now have a red car with a whte rear dor on the driver's side (Thats the RIGHT hand side, because we drive on the LEFT in Britain not like you Yank fools)

Show me an American car and I'll show you a badly designed, petrol guzzling leviathon.

Also, apparently I've discovered a new talent: I CAN PUKE AND SHIT AT THE SAME TIME!!!! YAY!!!!
IMPOSSIBLE!!! :o

That's a life skill that.

See, that's bullshit. If someone (band member/friend) has a spiritual awakening and you don't support that, you're a shitty friend. Basically they're just saying "sex, drugs and my personal satisfaction are more important than you". What the fuck? I mean, you don't have to pray with him or convert along with him. He's not forcing you to do anything you don't want to. But you're just completely unwilling to compromise. How big of a fucking prick do you have to be? Anyway! Yeah, that's not cool, and I say go ahead and let Korn start sucking without him. Besides the remake of "word up" really blew. It's good that he's getting out while they still have some artistic integrity.

Its a new sounds for a new age- its speaking to a different generation than John was.

POD isn't Christian... they're Rastafarian. Completely different animal in the jungle of Religion. Switchfoot is a better example of Christian Rock.

Rastafaria is a Christian sect. It's radically different than most accepted Christianity, but they do incorporate the KJV into their religion. They believe a man named Haile Selassie (sp?) is God incarnate. They see Jesus as a former incarnation of Haile.

First of all, John Lennon speaks to all generations. Second, they screwed with the entire spirit of the song, it wasn't supposed to be angry, angstfull or unconvinving moody guitar driven, it was supposed to be hopefull.

I like covers that are nothing like the original. For example, the remake of Head Like a Hole that AFI did. They made it so similar to the original that it's like "what the fuck is the point of remaking it?" Now, the remake of Hurt that Johnny Cash did was awesome because it was so different from the original. Both of these remakes were NIN covers, but they differ greatly. I mean, you really have to cover a song and make it your own, otherwise why remake the song? The original is always going to be better when the song is so similar. So, crazy remakes for all!!!

Finally, the last thing this thread needs is people comming in and trying to pick a fight over some arbitrary point. Let it go.

Go outside during the day and find me one person with hope for the future. The masses don't want to hear it. Imagine has always spoken to the masses, about hope for them. Its supposed to speak to them. And today generation that wants to hear it is angsty and angry. No-one has hope, and it needed to be bought back out in a language which kids todayy could understand...

I never took Latin, but I got an amazing vocab because of my Spanish-- plus I know most of the Greek affixes pretty well.

Your experiance in Latin is funny-- my paper was about how Latin should be taught from the first grade till 12th because of many reasons.

Covers; I'm o.k. with people doing cover tunes, I just like it a lot better when people re-interpret the song and make it their own. Mangle the hell out if, do it in a different style, whatever! Just don't make me have to pay for a C.D. with a spot-on cover of some famous song for crying out loud! The best cover I've heared recently is on a demo CD of a local group performing a heavy metal rendition of John Mellencamp's "Scarecrow."

The only time I've ever heard someone perform a true-to-the-original cover that sounded good was the bootleg CD of Dream Theatre performing Metallica's "Master of Puppets" in it's entirerty.

On the covers suject, I'm going with the masses on this one. Covers shouldn't be the same as the original, because if they are, then what's the point of doing them? The original already exists! At the very least, the sound should be tweaked and modernized for any cover.

Because HS French taught me to hate French, and I generally disliked my Spanish teacher. I want to go to Germany too. No, there is no good answer. I would have equally enjoyed traveling about Latin America, so I've generally boned myself.

Different, but really not a big deal. Took me maybe fifteen minutes to get use to it. Driving on the left would be trippy, but not that hard of a switch either I suspect.

Covers:

I like covers that carry the basic melody, but are different. Examples include:

Hurt - Johnny Cash [NIN]
Jolene - The White Stripes (Dolly Parton)
All Apologies - Sinead O'Connor [Nirvana](this one is bad-ASS, esp. if you're a fan of both.)
White Rabbit - The Murmurs [Jefferson Airplane]
Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters [Pink Floyd]
Amazing Grace - Ani DiFranco [standard hymn]

Because of a lot of songs like this (they completely cross genres) many people are exposed to artists and songs and genres they never would have listened to. That's a positive in my book.

Ah, I really wish my parents would go to bed so I can get the hell out of here. I've been in the house since I got out of school today, and I'm dying to roam the neighborhood. I'm a bit of a night owl, so having to sit pretty here while waiting for them to go to sleep is starting to suck really bad. Hell, they've already seen me when I've been trying to get out of the house tonight, so they might stay up later to make sure I don't sneak out tonight. And on the night we get z-bars of all the times...
