You're very correct Ted, as I mentioned yesterday, those of us who are level 9 and higher are effected by every deposit HT makes, as you noticed I'm level 13 again because HT deposited and knocked me back down to it (see original explanation as to why this happened). HT's deposits ever so slightly raise the total requirements we need to make to reach new levels, and that is why you won't always see nice round numbers to get to the next level (ex: 150, 140, 130, etc...) and why you see the odd numbers (ex: 143, 137, 122, etc..) as you move towards you're next goal.

Does HT's deposit raise the requirement, or our XP?

It raises the requirement to get to the next level, our xp remains the same.

I think we should have a plan to fuck up HT's computer so can't deposit. There should be a system of constant exp points.
1:0
2:30
5:200
10:2000
15:5000
20:10000
30:30000
etc.

I'm glad my rant on abortion has been so well received. I tried sleeping earlier, from 3am until 5am, but I gave it up when no sleep came. I then played Flash Flash Revolution (don't even get into it, you'll never be able to stop) for a while and pondered Strawberry Coke with my friend. Now I'm watching a bird in my driveway, a pidgeon, and it's sort of staring at me. Meh.

Not really. Someone eslse would gotten to be lvl 30 and the shit would start again.
But I think the system is great. Humantarget is the user that has been on NG the longest, while showing the most fait to NG. That is why he should be the top user. And since there is only 30 lvls, of course it should be a sliding scale. If you signed up in 2001, you should not have the same stats as anyone in 2000 etc.
But when the veterans leav, their record of years of depositing stands, ready to be beaten.
The system is 100% fair.
It is named experince points for a reason.

Wait...I thought I had this, but now I'm confused.
When HT deposits, the Requirement for a level goes up. How does that make us have a weird number of exp points?

Because as I said before, it dosen't make our xp change (as I understand it) it makes the overall requirement go up, because the overall requirement is raised, we get odd point numbers to reach our next level since I'm not quite sure that HT's deposits raise the requirement by a full 10 points...I think it's a bit more miniscule than that...but still plenty annoying.
PZY is right, you get rid of HT, than Pimp or Shrap is just gonna pick up where he left off,they're the next in line, you're best bet is to just keep depositing and in a couple years hope that you'll reach level 30 and be king of the heap.

I think we have to get 10% of HT's exp. points to get Lv10 or 15% to get Lv12 or something.

i think every ten points HT gets raises the requirement by .2 points, thats why occasionally the space to your next level grows a point

No. It's not a constant. It's a figure that changes on three counts, your user level, your experience, and HT's experience.

I think the raising for the lvls are somewhat like this (when the lvl 30 depostits, and the first # is your current lvl):
9 0,5
10 1
11 1,5
12 2
13 2,5
14 3
15 3,5
16 4
17 4,5
18 5
19 5,5
20 6
21 6,5
22 7
23 7,5
24 8
25 8,5
26 9
27 9,5
28 ?
29 10
A you see, it is someting like this, but I don't know what lvl 28 needs.
My theory goes like this: 10 exp / 20 lvls. But this would result in 9-10 having no points increase, which we know is not the case. But I don't know what lvl 28 gets. I would suppose all the numbers are not what I wrote, but close, and lvl 28 gets the stuff "left" from that.

Level Calculations
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Formula Variable Legend:
LVL = Desired Level or Level in Question
Er(LVL) = Experience Required to attain some level LVL
Tr(LVL) = Time (in days) required to enter a certain some level LVL
Ue = The Experience Points of the User in Question
Ud = The Posts per Day of the User in Question
Uc = The Total Post Count of the User in Question
Le = The Experience points of the lvl 30 User(s)
Ld = The Posts per Day of a lvl 30 User
Lc = The Total Post Count of a lvl 30 User
UepD = The Average Change in Experience Points per Day of the User in Question
LepD = The Average Change in Experience Points per Day of a lvl 30 user
Rulu = Rate at which a user is leveling up (in levels per day)
Calculating UepD and LepD:
UepD=Ue*Ud/Uc
LepD=Le*Ld/Lc
Calculating the experience required to enter a certain level:
For LBL less than or equal to 9:
Er(LVL)=50*LVL
For LVL greater than or equal to 10:
Er(LVL)=(LVL-9)(Le-400)/21+400
Calculating the time required for a user with a certain experience to enter a certain level:
For LVL less than or equal to 9:
Tr(LVL)=(50*LVL-Ue)/UepD
Assuming that UepD is equal to 10 Experience points per Day,
Tr(LVL)=5*LVL-Ue/10
For LVL greater than or equal to 10:
Tr(LVL)=-[Le*(LVL-9)-400*LVL-3*(7*Ue-4000)]/[LepD*(LVL-9)-21*UepD]
Assuming that both UepD and LepD are equal to 10 Experience points per Day,
Tr(LVL)=-[Le*(LVL-9)-400*LVL-3*(7*Ue-4000)]/[10*(LVL-30)]
Calculating the level of a user:
For Ue less than 400 Experience points:
LVL=Ue/50
For Ue greater than or equal to 400 Experience points:
LVL=9+21*(Ue-400)/(Le-400)
Note that the mantissa (digits after the decimal place) represents one's percent completion of one's level, where the character (digits prior to the decimal point) represents one's level.
Calculating the rate at which a user is leveling up:
For Ue less than 400 Experience points:
Rulu=UepD/50
Assuming that UepD is equal to 10 Experience points per Day,
Rulu=0.2
For Ue greater than or equal to 400 Experience points:
Rulu=21*[UepD*(Le-400)-LepD*(Ue-400)]/(Le-400)^2
Assuming that both UepD and LepD are equal to 10 Experience points per Day,
Rulu=210*(Le-Ue)/(Le-400)^2

but I wonder how much the lvls raise by HT's deposit, I know it is the same figures every day.
And thanx for posting that.

Damn, grew a whole page! Damn errors last night; decided to get some sleep for once. Thanks for the explaination Bum. I didnt go through all of it yet, but im hoping the MYSTERY question is answered. How is the hell do you get YOUR ex to be odd numbered (other than 5). Question of the century I tell ya. So, time to do some work.

I would work that question out, PZY, but it involves three variables and the answer would be in the form of an equasion. If somebody has done higher maths than me, with is very possible as I am 14, then they might know of a way to work it out.
Approximately, every time (or maybe every other time) HT deposits, my exp neede goes up by a point.

I believe in the early days of NG it was possible to earn single exp. points.
And PZY, one more thing. It isn't a constant raise/. It depends on your level, your exp. points and HT's exp. points.

Of course I knew that. But it does not depend on your exp, but your lvl.
I would never assume the rasing of exp per lvl was the same. But as there is a lvl 30 user, and every time he/she deposits, the exp needed for every lvl goes up the same as all other days.
I think this is so obvious it is not even necisarry to be mentioned.
I think I will go work on various theories for calculating this. I really wonder.

I have long ago given up the fruitless quest for level dominance. Now I just hold steady at the mininum for respectibility watching, waiting....
I drifted off there for a bit, but yall get my point, right?

I do seem to remember that when the whole Ground's Gold idea was introduced you had to vote on 10 movies to get 10 points and you could deposit single points, or an odd number. So, people like me who weren't really bothered about points would watch like 3 good movies then deposit them.
Ah the good ol' days.

Not really... I'm actually surprised someone else hasn't answered this question fully. Slizor is right, but there is another way to obtain odd exp points today.
When you make a flash movie, and submit it, within the form to upload it is a little box that asks if you'd like to let NG know who told you to upload that movie. If you enter a valid user name, they get like 1 exp or so. I'm not sure if the movie has to survive judgement or not for that user to receive the exp. Also, you have the oportunity to get 5 exp twice by creating a profile, and consenting to let NG give your e-mail addy to porno sites. or something like that.
Well.... wow... this new database server is TEH AEWSOME! These BBS pages load in a couple of seconds now, as opposed to before, when it would take minutes for a broadband user to get a page up... I am really happy that NG is running smoothly!
That reminds me... you're all watching Newgrounds 3.0 being built. The first Newgrounds was tom's fansite, as we all know (Or do we?) But the first incarnation of Newgrounds as we know it was the very first automated portal, and the oldschool style... the second version is what is dissappearing now. The "old" front page and portal are gone. Soon the individual portal pages will also be new (That's a wild assumption, but it has happened before).
W00t!
