So, I have a question about that. Is it an average that determines the level up and is based on higher level members; I dont really understand how this works.

From what I gather it's based on the top depositer on NG. Oh well, we always know who's going to be tops around here!!

Do you think thats the problem; I dont know shit about technical computer stuff. Its connected to the server at my dads office; his computer guy hooked it up. Whats the deal man?!?!? Oh, look at the con. vs. lib. thread...Did I explain myself well enough?

Good to see you took my advice, Bakshi. You should check first to see if the router works before throwing it back in their faces, though. If all else fails, just pay the $40 or so for SBC Yahoo Broadband.

Hmmm, we have level up questions eh? Okay...well, I won't be nasty about this...you guys obviously don't get around much (judging by the smell in here if nothing else)...so you're old pal avie is gonna break this down for you:
*cues the film about NG's point system*
When you sign up for a grounds gold account, a magical experience happens, you are given all sorts of neat NG privileges...principally, the ability to vote on movies and increase you're voting power. We commonly call this "leveling up" since you're on a numbered level system.
Levels 1-8 have a determined amount of points which are "locked" and will only take you a few days to attain each new level...this is a very fun time to be an NG user, because you level up very fast and feel important.
Level 9 and up is a bit more complicated. Now you achieve what we call "the sliding scale" point levels are NOT locked at this point. You are at the mercy of the level 30 user (currently: humantarget52) this user is the top user on NG, when they deposit for the day, it causes the point amounts to achieve the next level to rise (again, this is ONLY if you are level 9 and up). This isn't a huge increase, but it is rather annoying the higher you're level gets, and the more points you need to attain a new level. It's also annoying because you can actually be bumped DOWN a level if you've leveled up, but are on the border between you're last level when HT deposits (for example, you could be level 14 by one point, and than HT deposits and you're bumped back down to 13).
This system is what seperates the people who stay from the people who go, because of the annoyance of the system, people usually do one of three things:
1) keep depositing anyway in spite of the annoyance
2) only deposit enough to maintain their current level
3) say fuck it and quit the site altogether
So there you have it...a pretty comprehensive look at how the magic of grounds gold works...so don't give up! Keep depositing...and maybe one day YOU will be the next level 30 user (not fucking likely but, it's always nice to dream).
*ends the film*
Any questions?

Bravo, I laughed, I cried, I peed my pants...um, scratch that last comment! Thanks avie...can I ask another. I feel stupid not knowing, but its worse to not ask when you dont know so here goes. How in the hell do people have points that end in 3 and 1 and whatnot? This is frickin crazy talk ill tell ya...or a conspiracy *shifts eyes left and right ever so slightly*. So, <redneck voice> what in da tarnation is goin on roun here?!

So, one time, there was this guy, and his name was PJ, and he decided to move to rio vista for the summer where his access to the inter-web was limited, and to make a long story short, he decided he was going to try to log on more often, just in case everyone was finally starting to forget the cynical, smart-assed comments (with a touch of the truth) he was often privy to. So, in the words of Bummy-
*Fanfare*
PJ returns!

Oh you know it. Before you can want to be JudgeMeHarshX, you have to have achieved being David Hasselhoff. Any man who can sing "The Limbo Song" and still be assured of his sexuality is fine by me.

I don't want to be JudgeMeHarshX. And I'm not David Hasselhoff... or am I?

I also have to cope with the fact that my political blog is being hacked nearly daily because of the Pro-Abortion essay I put up there.

Well, BCC, if you have AIM or MSN, drop me a message and I'll give you a link. You can still read the entry although the notes have been hacked and I'm waiting on TOD Staff to get that removed. The blog is spiffy, though.

Way back to whoever asked, a person gets an odd number of points this way.
Lvl 1-8, you will have 10, 20, 100, etc. points.
Once you reach level nine, it changes. You will need 340 points to level up. Then, when HumanTarget deposits, you will need 341 points.
That's how the requirement changes to odd numbers.
And my train of thought just left the station without me, so someone else will have to answer how a person gets odd numbers for points.

Thanks, Ted, for cleaning up on that AmericanBADASS person. Heh, he sent me a few AIM threats, but it's just one of those fools you have to deal with, you know? Man, I wish I'd have been able to ban him after that. Grr...he just wanted to be JudgeMeHarshX.

AmericanBADASS needs a weeks banning, for that comment in the topic to do with Young Girls in South Africa being Raped.

Ironically enough, it was about the subject of ignorance. Now, everyone get to my abortion rant and poke holes in it so I can make it more solid when it comes time to actually put this up for whatever I plan to do with it.

Are you planning on using that in a debate you've got coming up, or are you just penning thoughts?

I'm working on my 3rd day being laid off because there's no electricity at work. I heard it's been declared a disaster area.... too bad it's not nearly as cool as Hurricane Gloria was 15 or so years ago. At least I have a good excuse to get piss drunk and ramble on the forums a bit.
Nice to see PJ back....

Here comes Judge with images from the other side. The pictures of dead Odai and Qusay Hussein.
Caution: If you're a wuss and never seen a Schwarzenegger movie, this may offend.
