Dunno. It'd probably take about one eighth of a second. They probably have a big "delete person" button, then they change everything so he doesn't exiost. </1984>

You've never read 1984?

The idea of a "delete person" button scars me a bit.

What is it with Orwell on this forum? All i hear these days is "Animal Farm" and "1984" Geez, you know, there are other writers too in the world. Some of them aren't even dead yet. What is it with you people, feeling all grown-up and intelligent because your read one or two political books, wich you were probably made to read by your highschool teacher?

Yeah, I got that in South Carolina when I was 15. I couldn't have a NA beer as it had, wait for it, .25% alcohol!!! I thought it was a wind-up, as you couldn't get hammered if you drank a crate of it (but your bladder would never be the same) but, no, I might go on a drunken rampage.

The thing is, by being so militant about the 21 limit, it has an effect. Whenever I'm in the States, I regularly see middle aged guys acting like 14 year olds when they have a few beers, because it's been made such a forbidden fruit by this ludicrous law.

And, no, I'm not going to mention the guns/cars/wife by 16 thing - been done.

Besides, in the UK our beers are at least 5.2%, and the fact is we get imported stuff from Germany, Holland and Belgium that's stronger. Oh, and we call it Budvar over here - what the fuck is Czechvar?!?

I needed that...

I've read a lot of Michener including Poland and The Source. Darn it I was in AP English.

The US drinking age is not enforced very strongly at all. I've been able to order drinks in bars before, no carding.

A 21y/o age limit is meant to stop people 15, 16, & 17 from drinking. You have to factor in a reasonable buffer, since any age limit is fairly arbitrary. The gov't did such.

See, Veggiemeal, this (see earlier on this page) is the kind of discussion I was hoping to get in my Animal Farm thread. I fucking love 1984 and the whole Newspeak concept including stuff like Doublespeak (which is the whole lying without lying thing) and Thoughtcrimes. Some of the stuff in that book was quite boring though.

Do they actyally stick to those laws, or are they kinda moot?

Yes, they actually stick to those laws. Granted, they have allowed I think 2 restaurants to sell non-alchoholic beer with meals, but that's as far as they go.

I worked at a grocery store years ago. Every sunday there would be lines of alcholic drinks that needed to be be put back on the shelves because people didn't realise they couldn't buy them

I just found out today that people in Ontario have to go to the LCBO to get all their alcoholic desires, including beer. How inconvenient is that? I took it for granted that we Quebecers can get it easily out of the local 7/11.

Crazy.

Oh, that's easy. You have at least one friend two years older than you, right? Give him some money, and say "Get me some liquor, or I'll kick your ass". Problem solved. Technically you could drive to Memphis to have me buy it for you, but that would just be impractical.

Come now Funk (As you said you wish to be called so, I shall oblige.) we don't have to be militant about it. Just get the local semi-retarded guy to do it for you like I do.

Holy crap! I just finished reading each and every post on this thread. Good thing I don't remember half of it or I know I would be scarred further than I already am. One trend that has popped up: the mods can be jerks sometimes. The whole Stuporman incident took me aback because I had faith in this administration and granted I don't remember all of the circumstances but he was rather harsh. Not to mention Shrike getting mean around page 260. Thankfully he's chilled out again. Shrike I got nothing but love. Ok so that's true all the time, but you know what I mean.

I have a few more items to bring up, Shrike are you still in the business of making sig pics? If not I'll ask Rugby. Heck why not splurge? Would both of you be willing to make me a sig pic then I'll be able to switch depending on my mood or whoever makes the cooler one. (Ah I love competition.)

I know I wasn't here for when the females were posting, but can I still miss them? This thread really has suffered without House and Freak.

I have one more thing. Has anyone checked out the lively debate between me and JimSween? I make it a point to love and respect everyone, hence the religion tribute in my name, and I seem to not be doing to badly in handling a rather volatile individual. Honestly am I on his (your if you're reading this) good side or is he (are you) mocking me behind to my naive face?

Wow that was long but at least it's not a haiku. Man are those hard for the freestyling poet like myself.

Peace
