My crazy neighbor has 15 days to move or be evicted. But after he came to my door today I may be seeking a restraining order for as long as he's here.

Neighbors suck. I'm sorry you have to worry about him but at least he'll be gone before the next months rent is due.

I just did all of my Christmas shopping on thinkgeek.com. All of it. Every family member (and upcoming nephew who is trying to pop out a few weeks early today). My sister gets one of those magic butterfly things my brother gets tactical bacon and a petri dish of plushy kissing disease microbes (because he wants to be a nurse). Baby gets a onesy from my wife's current school though, so not entirely from the same website... My mom gets a giant tongue toy for her dog and an "I love you bean" that grows with "I love you" written on it. My dad gets an Enterprise pizza cutter.

Last year the thinkgeek gifts were well received but my sister broke the little living ring thing I got from an etsy artist the minute she got it :(.

had a bit of a mindfuck today.

I was playing team fortress 2 (hadnt played it in a while so i figured i would give it a spin)

damn game's more fun than I remember. Especially given that every class has items you can find simply by playing the game.

Then some guy calls me a "f2p baby" I wondered to myself, "what the hell do you mean f2p? Free to play? I don't remember this game having a subscription!"

Then I did a little looking around and realized valve is now letting people play Tf2 for free, without buying a copy of the game... cool by me, more people to play with... course it also means more retards, but oh well.

so if you want a semicompetitive shooting game that doesn't take itself too seriously, give it a shot, its free now.

Speaking of games, I participated in a charity Warhammer 40k tournament this weekend. Came in 5th out of 20.

Was at the top table (as in seeded 2nd overall after the first two games) for my final game and then shit the bed so hard that my kids will smell it. Bloody embarrassing. But it was for a good cause (Toys for Tots) and I had fun so no complaints.

I did some christmas shopping at thinkgeek too. What's great about that place is there's so much variety that even if someone knows you got their gift there and they're from a particular brand of geekdom they'll still never guess what you got them.

I bought a three-pack of the thinkgeek annoy-a-tron's on cyber monday. Now they're on sale for half off, ye bastards! I want to annoy people for cheap. Now I've just got to figure out who I want to annoy the crap out of....

I got something very interesting yesterday; a block of walnut wood, 1"x4" by 12" long. Long story short, I waited on a customer last week who had a piece of painted walnut he wanted me to color match, I said I'd be more than happy to buy any scrap pieces he had for my dad to make knife handle scales with, and he said "I've got some scrap I can give you." I didn't think the guy was actually going to do it, but lo and behold... he did. O_o;

I'm beginning to ponder my sanity.

Today at work my boss's bitch wife makes a rude remark at me and I more or less bared fangs at her and growled for a moment. everyone except her got a kick out of it at least.

between that and having this strange idea of selling off all my belongings except my clothes and car and leaving this godforsaken town for good... Beginning to wonder if I am finally about to snap.

The best bit of advice my mother ever gave me about mental health was this; so long as you are able and willing to question the sanity of your own actions, you're not insane. It's when you STOP questioning yourself that problems start. So the fact that you're still able to step back and go "am I losing my mind?" shows me that you're not so far gone as to as to answer "yes" to.

So, while I don't think you're crazy, I do think your situation isn't doing your mental health any good. Especially if you're so desperate to get out of it as to sell everything you own and just disappear. I'll be praying for you.

I wouldn't be losing much... few musical instruments and a computer is about all I have.

course, while most ppl have a network of friends and family to turn to when they fall on hard times, I have nothing. I've always had to get by on my own willpower and mental fortitude, but I feel that its beginning to crack.

given that I've pulled through problems that would cause ordinary people to become drinks, get on drugs, commit suicide, or kill someone else, I figure I've done good to get this far.

and the things that irritates me more than anything is I can't just walk away from it without finding another job, and you can be DAMNED sure whoever calls my boss to ask about my employment is going to high a very negative response... hateful sons of bitches. That's ok though, I plan on taking them down, nice and legal. I'll be on front page news as the whistle blower that brought down a corrupt business :P.

As I said before, they do some dirty dealin' and I'm gonna capitalize on it once I got a new job.

By law, all an employer can say about a former employee is confirmation about dates worked, they can't give you a character witness unless you put them down as a personal reference.

Walnut isn't all that expensive Proteas....{ zips out to shop & looks at piece of walnut}
I've got a piece about a foot long, a full inch thick & 6 inches wide for 3 bucks.
(& that's Canadian money ~;)

There's a place in Dartmouth called East Coast Speciallty Hardwoods. with exotics & woods from all over the world. They sell by the board foot & offer milling etc.

They have a what they call the 'scrap bin' & there's everything they carry in it. All small pieces from 6inches long & longer to 3 ft & it is discounted compared to the regular price, where for example they want around 75 dollars for ebony a board foot. You can of course by it in longer lengths but it isn't cheap.
But you can find pieces under a foot long for half that price or less.
They've got lots of very cool woods, purple heart, zebrano, lace wood, cocobola, bloodwood, tigerwood, tulip wood is just a few of them .
Surely theres a similar place like that down around you somewhere .
By the way this place is about 35 miles from my home, so I go there when I'm in that area & pick up interesting woods for making puzzels etc (my hobby)
So I have really nice wood for a great price.

Not really. You can get your hands on white pine or red oak really easy, but for any of the nicer hardwoods you're looking at a pretty decent drive. One of my neighbors drives as far as Franklin, Tennessee (which is about 50 or 60 miles south or here) just to get wood to make his lap-harps and dulcimers with. That's why when that guy just up and gave me that piece of scrap -- and offered to give me more if I needed it -- I about shit bricks.

I'm wrapping it up and giving it to my dad for Christmas. It, and a good bottle of Whiskey.

so begins my extreme diet and exercise routine... beginning with diet and working in exercise as I can.

what diet? mostly fruit with some boiled eggs and beans tossed in for protein. I once lost went from 400 pounds to 250 on such a diet in about 6 months. it oughta to be enough to put me in good shape.

it's also a cheap eatin' diet.

MAybe the human voice in metal... ever been to an opera ?
The human voice is an incredible instrument...there's just few , very few who actually have it . With even fewer knowing how to use it !
HE stayed after the show. THe band had left & he had a full house...seems he liked Halifax & because he so many people came to the stage he came back & played for them while we were wrapping the stage gear. You don't see many artists doing anything extra for their fans these days .

Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit.

;;;
This was years ago when he used to sell out halls. You can call anyone you want shit or garbage, but when they are selling out out door venues of 50 thousand plus people, someone obviously liked him.
There is no way 50 thousand people made the same wrong turn !

I did a christams special in Cape Breton with a local singer Rita MacNeil a few years back, at one point she had disappeared & where did they find her ?
On the craft truck baking cookies with one of the craft ladies for the crew...when was the last time you heard of a performer doing something like that for her people ?
THere are many artist's I've worked for over the years that were good people, might not have been my kind of music, or what I liked etc. but still good people regular folks who like to have a drink shoot the shit & hang out at the end of the day.

Where there's been others who treat you like shit, you are instructed to not look at them, don't make eye contact. Only speak to them if spoken to, like fuck I would...any asshole with that kind of attitude comes with in a mile of me, they can talk to my business agent about hourly rate & bonuses because I wouldn't piss on them , even to put out a fire.
I'm looking at you Ann Murray, Snoop, Pierce Brosan, Mike Myers, Sylvestor Stallon... fucking Mike Myers when I was last in Toronto, had a stipulation, if you talked to him or made eye contact tyou were fired.
He had a area where he sat in his director's chair by himself, with four black walls & a roof, about 10x10 where went between takes while filming !

Say what you want about Rod Stewart, but the man was a rock star in the 70's. That gives me faith he can throw a party.

How that man is alive is anybody's guess. Him, and Mick Fleetwood, both.

Wasn't it Mick Fleetwood who said he had snorted more than $8 million dollar's worth of cocaine in his lifetime?

Now is that at todays rate or back when he was using? I do remember him saying something like that on behind the music. And Elton John was into it for considerable even at the time quantities too.

I go to work and get bossed around by a woman who can't even write a check (literally, every time she has to, she finds a way to get SOMEONE ELSE to do it), when I get home I get lectured by a woman who knows nothing of nutrition trying to tell me how to eat.

I eat well and I eat healthy. Problem is she is HELLBENT on getting on some dumbass "catfish and frozen vegetable diet"

I can't afford $10 for 3 freaking fillets!

so here's my usual daily routine.

Breakfast:
Fruit! Bananas, oranges, apples, etc and a glass of milk.

Lunch:
more fruit and some protein (usually beans, or a bit of lean meat) with water or maybe milk sometimes.

Dinner: vegetables and some protein
Beans, cabbage, etc. sometimes a little meat in my beans or a piece of lean meat cooked on a dry non stick skillet with some seasonings. of course, with water.

snacks? little fruit, nothing else. soda is forbidden, as well as sugary snacks.

I once lost 150 pounds on this diet. time to shed that other 50.

Today I got a batch of the best cookies ever. And whoopie pies. It has come to my attention that whoopie pies were indeed invented by northern Amish yankees. Somehow the greatest whoopie pies in the history of ever come from Louisiana. I'm gonna be fat.

Today I went over to 9 mile River & picked up a free range turkey.
He was strutting around the yard last week when I was there, but he met the chopping block on Thursday afternoon & when I picked him up today, he was 15 & a half pounds dressed.
I did this for my Dad who always complains that store bought frozen turkeys taste like freezer, to him.
Seeing as he grew up on a farm & we used to go to the farm as kids & get chickens & eggs, My Uncle & Grandfather would Raise a few pigs & beef cattle for the family etc. We ate a lot of free range back then & didn't even realise we were getting a product superior to factory raised...but back then eveyone thought store bought had to be better.
Ah, how times have changed eh.

Just talked to my brother on facebook. He's going to a funeral tomorrow his best friend's uncle... and he was asked to bring songs for the music service.

After the Eulogy...
Willie Nelson's cover of "Grave Digger"

While they're lowering the casket...
Johnny Cash's "Ain't No Grave" with Undertaker intro

What is so important that a hardware store has to be open on Christmas ?
Up here, you'll be lucky to find a gas station open.

Hell if I know.... if it's as slow as it has been in year's past, the cashiers may find me walking the aisles with my vest thrown over my shoulder like a serape, a caulking gun in each hand, whistling the theme to "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly."

"Stephen, we're going to go ahead and send you on home for the day for mental health concerns..."
