Apparently these people came to my university? The thing they made was kind of cool, but watching people eat it was disgusting.

Twice a year, every year as long as I can remember, the movement of the clocks, has fucked up my life.My internal clock gets all out of whack & it takes about 2 weeks for me to come around.
I do not know why that is...it just happens !
I have an appointment this week with a florist. We ended up getting a new one since the last one gave us the runaround one too many times. Wonder how far back that puts me wedding wise.
;;;
As a male, flowers are so over rated !
I mena you pay fo rthem...they're dying, & you give someone your money for a dead plant, you can't eat, you can't replant...you just look at it ??!!??
I got an original idea...put up photo's of flowers !
Photo's of gardens, arrangements etc.
But I am a male & most males feel exactly the same way I do,about flowers.
So please feel free to ignore me ~;)

a coworker of mine decided he wanted to fight. the guy is a twig, but apparently he picked up some Martial Arts book from the Books-A-Million. so he declares he can kick my ass with his newfround skills.
Given that I'm at LEAST 2.5 times his size, weight, and strength, he really should have known better.
he learned a valuable lesson, reading a book and seeing a few diagrams on how to do something does NOT make you an expert... or even decent.
He calls me and asks me to come to his house. then he declares he can take me in a fight, so i accepted his challenge and had him on the ground in 15 seconds. Then I give him a good lecture on why people with zero fighting experience should never try to take on someone bigger than they are... or anyone for that matter.
I'm not crazy, everyone else is.

Oh, no. I meant that I banned stafff for 8 months for threatening to cause bodily harm. That's just how he says hello.
And he bought me a bagel so that's been called off.
It's nice to see you, Seven Seize. Did cd6 ever return?
I haven't seen him. :-(

Well... the only thing I've done knife-wise lately was to take the worn out tungsten-carbide elements out of one of these and re-flatten them using one of my diamond stones instead of just buying new elements or a new sharpener.
Tungsten Carbide = second hardest material in the known universe after diamond, and it's the most common element used in pull-through knife sharpeners like that. 5 minutes of work saved me about $4 for a new element or $8 for a whole new sharpener, and it seems to work a lot better than it did fresh out of the package...

the back of my can opener has this weird knife sharpener on it - it does a terrible job - Then again I have cheap ass walmart knives and used them until they were quite dull before ever trying to use the thing on the back of my walmart can opener.

I prefer diamond stones, myself. They stay flat, and if you get a good quality one (DMT), they never wear out.
I use a Smith's pull-through sharpener (or a rolling wheel sharpener I have, basically a 4 inch grinding stone that's 2 inches wide and moves about 90 rpm) to do the work of a coarse, especially if somebody asks me to sharpen a knife that's been blunted. Then I'll finish it off on a diamond stone. All I need now is a good leather strop so I can put a polished edge on a knife.

I have several types, I like how well the diamond stones work, but i also have a fine ceramic stone on my 2 wheel grinder, its for my lathe tools, & I have a glass plate & agragate for honing...a wetstone motorized with water bath...
But none of them are as good as having a Barber in the family...he can put an edge on anything, that you can shave with ~:)

I've been using herbal alcohol extract to numb my canker sores. They sting pretty bad when I try to eat, so I thought it'd be worth a shot to try and get them under control.
Lo and behold, a few drops of what is basically hard liquor with some grass and stuff in it works wonders. After some initial severe pains I almost can't feel a thing. I'd heartily recommend the method if it wasn't for the fact that nobody else seems to. There are probably some kind of side effect/s I just haven't encountered yet. Possibly, the concentrated booze dries out mucous membrane and actually prevents it from healing properly in the long term.

Angle guide time? And I'm not even talking about the "read-how-the-pros-do-it" kind of guide. I'm talking about a physical instrument here. Like, rest the blade on a wedge of your desired angle or something to that effect?
A dull blade might not be well to cut with, but it's curious how well you can cut up yourself with one.

I sometimes sell knives...
I also occasionally put up big ass pet kennels onto the high steel with only a rickety ladder and my own muscle power (which is not too much...though for a lanky bastard who doesn't look like much I'm somewhat deceptively strong.) also I really hate my bosses...bastards drop you in an unfamiliar area, frigging tell you to set the damn thing up and merchandise it...then fuck off to lunch and never help you with a shred of the work. One day I'll have vengeance...

I've been using the two penny/three penny method to set the angle initially (I have a Japanese knife so the sides have different angles), but after setting it I try to free-hand the section of knife I'm sharpening using my thumb on the spine of the knife as a guide (which works okay).
I still get an edge much sharper than what most people have in their kitchen, but usually not one I can shave arm hair with. Just need some more practice, I think.

Same here. I can get a knife sharp enough to go through boxes like they're nothing, or filet a piece of meat with ease. Shave hairs of your arm? Not quite.
The trick I use is to have the cutting edge facing me at all times, and I tilt the spine of the blade up until I see the space between the blade and the stone close up, then I start sharpening. It's a bit of a difficult trick to pull off, and a bit awkward when you switch over to the other side of the blade since you have to switch hands, but it eliminates a lot of error when it comes to trying to find the right angle to sharpen at.
And before anybody asks; yes, it's dangerous to sharpen a knife that way, and I have cut myself doing it. I don't advise doing it if you can help it.
