@ Brian...I was just kidding, I've been reading some of the hype on the net about the Oscars. Not that they really interest me.
I actually find it quite lame that the industry likes to pat itself on the back & decide who In Their Opinion deserves an Oscar. I respectfully would like the freedom of making up my own mind...thank you very much. But there are the 10,000 others for everyone like me, who prefers to have their thinking done for them !
Seven...sorry to hear about you conforming to what your neighbors think/want .
I was out last week shoveling snow in shorts just to piss mine off.
It worked ~:)
I wore my "If Jesus comes back we'll kill him again shirt" on New Years to a levy...pissed off several people.
Nothing makes my soul smile more than when a religious person...who claims to be all pious & devout, loses their cool & shits on me for wearing an article of clothing with a saying on it that disturbs them !
They always have to mention how they're such a good >insert religion here< , yet they curse me & wish me a horrible existance in hell forever !
I often remind them they need to spend more time reading their 'Good Book' to see the claims of turning the other cheek, loving thy neighbor etc. lol
I love rabid religious idiots... makes the day brighter somehow .
My "Fuck You, You Fucking Fuck !" T-shirt I bought when I was in New Orleans sets these type of people off as well. ~;)

I was reading the morning paper.
Kind of shocking as I read about a murder suicide near my fathers home.
I was friends with the guy, who murdered his neighbor & then killed himself.
We used to go to the same bar, shoot pool & play darts.
I haven't seen him since back in the summer, when I was visiting Dad's place.
He was quite a bit older than I am. But I remember he was a good guy until his divorce a number of years ago. He ended up in prison over that. He became more & more reclusive as the years have gone by....Dad said he stopped to chat to him just before christmas & seemed to be bitter & unhappy .Really sad to read about the woman he killed, seems she was probably trying to befriend him & he lost it !

Normally, I would too, but there is something to be said about this film. It is a very well directed and well acted film, so I highly recommend it to everybody. The fact it's up for Oscars just adds to it.

I have nothing against the oscars on princible. I'm a movie geek. I know it's political and self congradulating and all that but, if you love movies it's a good show.
What I do have problems with is movies coming out just in time to be nominated for oscars. You hear nothing about this movies development or interviews with the stars until like one week before the nominations and it just reeks of, we made this movie to get an oscar. I am, of course, talking about the Ashton Kuture and Natilie Portman romp "no strings attached."

I'll raise you on that one and ask if you've ever been surfing for pr0nz and found yourself staring at someone you know perhaps a bit too well?
It's not something you'd be envious of.
But no, I've never really been there. Except for that one time I searched for myself and found a forty year-old French-Hispanian man living in Canada. You could say I now have the perfect alibi.

I found one on 4chan's /s/ one day of one of my coworkers. I didn't realize it was her until like... 10 minutes after the topic was taken down. Nothing nude, just her in her panties... but I've been kicking myself ever since for not grabbing the pic when I had the chance.

Dear Seven
I would send you snow if I could.
But we've been having trouble here in Canada sending anything to the US.
Seems back in Sept a wayward young pelican got blown off course. It is a rare thing to see here, one of these birds... & they cannot survive our winters. http://thechronicleherald.ca/Metro/12236 15.html
If sending you something that was probably born & raised in the Soutern US is so problematic...can you imagine what a kerfluffal sending you even more snow would do, especially since you've had so much cold weather in places you normally don't see it !
Although, the end of this clip mentions a good plan to stop that !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kod1nIxte WQ&feature=related
Here's my back yard...as you can see the rivers unfrozen again...it was frozen over earlier this week when we were at minus 20 - 25

Depending on where my fiance and I end up we may buy a snowblower. Here in the Great Lakes it's a necessity.
Speaking of my fiance, I haven't really put much thought into a honeymoon. He's thinking the Caribbean and I was thinking Hawaii but neither of us have really pursued anything. Of course, given our work schedules, especially with me probably taking a new job, and when the wedding is we may have to do what Mal and his wife did and just delay a honeymoon. We'd still like to go back to New Orleans in November though.

;;;
I've had them.
100+ feet of driveway & a snow blowers not so great !
Now I have a 4x4 with studded tires & what I do is knock the snow bank down that the plow pushes in front of the driveway & just drive on the damn stuff.
As long as its no higher than the top of the bumper...its do-able
A couple trips & I've got it flatened down.
Unlike many places snow doesn't usually come here & stay.
One week minus 25 next week +6 & raining.
We have wet & freeze day in & day out, which makes for really treacherous driving. You can be driving down the highway & it's raining, before 10 minutes passes, it turns to sleet, the roads freeze & there's cars off the highway, trucks upside down, you may think holy blistering demi god's ! What will it be like later...& it warms up & everythings fine...or it starts snowing & everything gets buried.
It's a tough combination on snowblowers...better to own a plow.

They don't work.
It just turns the damn snow to water, & the whole cycle begins again !
Although I recently read a storey abotu a guy who's figured out a way to make raods out of a new substance that allows it to absorb solar radiation & store it & release it slowly to keep this 'pavement' ice & snow free !
& its snowing right now, small little flakes (usually a bad sign) but it says on the local weather just now, it will be light accumulation & its minus 4 degrees.

I handed in an application for a summer job at the local public radio station a few hours ago, upon which it dawned on me that I really wasn't going to get that job. I attached neither samples of work nor Curriculum Vitae and I imagine my prior work experience as a Civic Duty Dude doing heavy lifting in general and lifting of kids in particular doesn't really count for much.
The only reason they'd hire me would be because of my fluent goddamn english, but what tosser born in the information age doesn't speak the Big E fluently anyway?
Still. There's always the possibility of a job at a local newspaper... But I won't get into that.

I've got a weird situation at work I'd like a little bit of advice on.
One of the girls in my department was telling me a week or so ago that her abusive ex-husband may have figured out where she is, and that she was afraid of the guy coming to her apartment and being physically violent with her again. I asked if she had a gun, she told me her boyfriend had a few packed up from where they moved. I urged her to go ahead and have them unpacked, and I also advised her on a couple of pistols she could buy.
Then I advised her that if she couldn't get to the gun in time, that she should head for the kitchen where there are plenty of heavy blunt-objects and sharp knives, and told her how to go about dispatching the the ex using a kitchen knife (i.e.; where to aim).
She told me today that I really creeped her out in describing how she should take the guy out with a knife.
Now, granted, I apologized for creeping her out, I told her that I just had her best interests and personal safety in mind, but the whole time I was thinking "the fuck were you doing telling ME you were having problems for, then?" I'm a little bit irked over this right now. Somebody came to me asking for advice, I gave it to them, and they got creeped out like I'm the weirdo.
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother.
