I hope the military is good enough to put deploy you two together if/when they do.
Actually I'm part of a Civil Support Team (CST) and we don't really deploy. We were created to deal with a WMD terrorist attack inside the US.
She's going into Comm with an Air Control Sq so it is possible that she could deploy but she has to get through tech school and stuff first. Also I wonder just how much longer we'll be in Afghanistan. There is no real end in sight so hopefully Washington will soon pull us out.

What a new year I have been having, a "repaird" xbox, new text books, now a new laptop. Just give me a broken down car and I will have it made.

I used to be afraid of heights, but I pretty much got over it with climbing.
That said, if I'd had to start with rope rescue I would have been petrified.

Lead climb on sport routes. The bolts are already permanently glued in, but you need to bring your own draws.

I have a bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and I'd like to know what to do with it. Yes, I know the answer is "drink it," but I'd like to mix it into something. Rum and Coke is boring.

I know rum is good in daiquiris, or any blended drink. What's it spiced with? Like what's the flavor?

You know how some malls have cut-outs in the middle of their floors starting on the second floor on up? I get a little nervous being that high up (but I don't mind flying in a Cessna 150!).
But when I went through it was at a fire training facility in Kentucky. We were about 40ft up and had to exit out a window. I could sit on the ledge, but couldn't bring myself to swing my legs out. I would've done it no problem if the bldg was on fire...but in the back of my mind I knew there was a perfectly accessible and safe flight of stairs available to get down.
So my wingman/battle buddy had to lift my legs up and out the window. But once I got out I did find with the descent. Still not something I'm overly fond of though!

That's a whole helluva lot better than what I was able to come up with. I went to the Captain Morgan's website to see if they had any suggestions, and you would think rum and coke was IT.
When my brother moved out last year, he left behind half a bottle of Absolut Vanilla. I had no idea what to do with it, but their website has a CRAP-TON of drink recipes. So that's where my idea for hitting up the manufacturer's website came from...

Ooh...that'll help a ton, Mason. Thanks.
I know where Seven is coming from. I am also in a position where I soon will not be able to have opinions on stuff. I kinda do that in my job now. The point is to keep your mouth shut and just give the facts. But I think it may be even more so in what I'm going for. I have a couple of job offers on the table now. Much is going to depend on salary, benefits, and all that good stuff. I am also getting married in September so that factors into it too. I've been up to my eyeballs in wedding stuff recently. Matter of fact, I met the DJ tonight. Great guy, we shouldn't have any problems. The price is right too--only $400 for the entire night.
I like the idea of a drinking party. Yeah, those of us who are 21 and up...unless there are people of age in their respective countries. IIRC Canada's is still 19 unless they've changed the laws like some folks proposed. You know, Canada is an awesome place...but it is not without its flaws. One of my clients at work is Canadian so I've learned a lot about the country. Not quite the liberal utopia some folks think it is, especially certain provinces (New Brunswick, I mean you).

As for jobs...I'm military so I know all about stiffling my opinion!
Monday will be my first anniversary with my wife. Sucks...she's away in Air Force basic training and I'm climbing the walls. I think its harder for me...knowing exactly what she's going through. There's that male part of me who wants to go down there and protect her from the mean old TI!
Then she has a 6 month tech school... :-(

I had a really good friend from Canada, he's in the Canadian Army in PsyOps. Went over to Afghanistan towards the end of my deployment. Haven't heard from him in awhile....hope he's alright.

Cap'n Morgan spiced is nice with orange juice, & lots of ice. It also makes good hot toddies. I realise in many places inthe US hot toddies are made with whisky or brandy. But up here in the Rum Belt, my family have always made it with rum.

I was going to say, why would you bring all those quick draws without any cams. My undergrad university had an outdoor rec major and an indoor climbing wall that had a lead climbing route with bolts in it, but when I took a rock climbing class at community college my first year out of highschool we did lead climbing on natural rock walls with cams.

There's a lot of outdoor bolted routes these days, especially now that sport climbing is so popular. That way you don't have to invest hundreds of dollars in trad pro before you learn to lead climb. Incidentally, did you just use cams, or did you also use passive protection like nuts?
The stuff I bought is in preparation for a trip to Red River Gorge in Kentucky, there's tons of bolted routes there. I might take up trad climbing this summer, if I visit BC. My girlfriend's sister lives there and one of her friends has been a rock guide for about ten years, and has decided to start logging his X number of instructional hours so he can be officially certified.

We only used cams. The instructor was a pretty oldschool guy who set most of the routes in the state park we lived in back in the 70s. Being in a state park, they have also discouraged use of bolts except for the top of the routes for top-roping. And of course, tiny community college probably didn't know any better for the basic classes (I'm sure that their Outdoor Rec program instructors would have scoffed)
I'm sure we've discussed how I am not a big climber by any means but I grew up in a largely outdoors type of community so we had things like weekly climbing with the local guide services when we were kids and friends who got into it through high school.

That sounds like an awesome trip, especially if you are trying something new. Maybe he can log a few of those hours with you. I flirted with getting my NY Guides license for flatwater canoeing and hiking back in 2007 when I was working at a canoe outfitter, but I was planning on moving in a year to a different state and didn't think it'd be cost effective (although, the license is good for life anyway) and I wound up studying a totally non-outdoorsy thing.
