Funny thing today. In my world history class we have been doing the Athean reacting game for the past few weeks, I was a oligarch, yeah a rich snob, we oligarchs and Socratics were getting our asses kicked, we only got two things passed. So the democrats had a lot of points, while we were in the negative, we won the game by a dice whole, ha.

In light of the coming snowstorm it's time to dig up this link:
I lived in this city for a year and yes, people do act like this when it snows. I remember showing this to Proteas and he said all this needs are Southern accents.

lol, If people down south act like that with very little snow, wounder how they would act up here, we've been getting slammed by a blizzard up to 10 inches of snow and its going to be blowing like hell tomorrow, and we just go "Just another winter day in Minnesota."

Well, yeah, because you guys are equipped to deal with that kind of weather and experienced enough to drive in it. It might snow for a week down here and then that's it for the rest of the season, it will just be blustery and cold for the rest of the time. We're not really equipped to handle it that well, and we don't get enough experience driving in it to know any better.
I've got to go to work today, and they don't salt the roads out where I live. Since it rained all night and turned freezing cold, then started in with snow flurries about an hour ago, it's going to be an interesting ride to work. Snow on top of Ice. YAY!!!

And yet here in the land where are are equipped for snow. None. All week it's been like 20 degrees without anything going on and then today it shoots up to 40 and it's been pouring rain all day. Fortunatly when it cools down tonight that'll give us lots of oppirtunities for ice. I want the fun part of winter weather, damn it!

I think the most aggravating thing about not having snow down here is that we've had the temperature, just no moisture. It's been in the 20s, in the teens, we've broken records like daily here lately.
But 0% precip.
and I know my weatherman control the weather---but I still want him to die. He's enjoying his job WAY too much. " It'll be below freezing tonight guys but no moisture so don't worry, no snow!"

i hate holiday shopping time. I go to gamestop to pick up a new memory stick for my psp, and the guy behind the counter tries to sell me a PSP Go, telling me its the best psp made and tries to list off everything it can do. after my scathing review of the PSP Go and his piss poor upselling skills, another person decides he doesn't want it either. I tell em to get a PSP-3000 model, because to me, its the best. it can do everything a PSP Go can do, and still has its UMD bay so you don't have to sit around and wait for a company to be kind enough to release their game in the playstation store.
I mean seriously, I'm there to buy a new memory stick for my existing psp. why in the hell would I buy a new psp if the one i got works just fine? I'm no marketing genius, but if someone is buying an accessory for something, try to sell them other accessories, and not a whole new system, right?
Anyway. Bout an hour later I'm at the TJ Maxx looking around and I see several cop cars pull up in front of the building. next thing I know, the cops bust in and haul off a couple of punk kids who were stuffing things into their pants, in front of about a dozen cameras. *facepalm* fucking geniuses where I live.
on the bright side, I'm steadily hammering away at the script for my cartoon. 1st episode is called Barbarian Invasion... obviously from the viewpoint of Madoshi.
I'm not crazy, everyone else is.

In retail, it's not uncommon for your superiors to pressure you to sell an item in order to drive up overall sales. Chances are the clerk agreed with you, but he had management keeping an eye on him so he had to tow the company line.
Or, part of his salary is commission based, in which case he WANTS to sell you the more expensive item so that way he can pay his bills at the end of the week.

My brother related the story to me once that his manager caught a woman sneaking out of the store with a whole frozen turkey between her legs (under a skirt). The manager followed her out to her car, talked to her politely as she sat in her vehicle, and kept WAITING for the woman to say something about the freezing cold 25 pound object between her legs. Finally, the woman went "You know what I'm hiding under the skirt, don't you? He responded, "Yep, and I don't want it back, either." That's when the thing dropped right into her floorboard as she let go. XD

Well, going to work yesterday wasn't an issue. It rained all day Saturday while the temperature steadily fell until it started snowing yesterday morning, but nothing froze to the roadways. However, it kept getting colder all day yesterday and the snow kept falling heavier until everything outside the exit door at work was just white.
We didn't have a whole lot of ice to deal with, but what really weirded me out was that this wasn't the typical wet and heavy snow we normally get; it was light and fluffy, and whipped up into snow drifts quite easily.
I think I'm just going to get back in bed and hybernate for the next day or so.

I just finished my last exam of my first semester of law school. This shit be crazy. I'm pretty positive that the experience caused some type of mental problems I'll have to relate to a therapist one day.
Now I get like 3 weeks to fly home and see the family before coming back and doing it all over again. I did some very little christmas shopping, I bought little ~$10 gifts for my brother and sister. My sister is kind of a hippie vegetarian type person so I bought her this cooky moss ring. there's living moss on the ring.
And I got my brother a lego man head lamp because I think he liked legos as kid. I let my sister get him the little cooler gift of a lighter-fluid run hand warmer from zippo.
I'm pretty sure I found those things on cheap gift guides on gizmodo.

Its been above zero here, so ...shorts weather.
We've been having some storms lately with really high winds, in excess of 80 -90.
Really blowing shit around everywhere, & so much rain the rivers over its banks again . Its howling outside right now...but above freezing so its not so bad.

Of what "fun" part do you speak. Surely you must jest, because I've lived in Michigan my entire life (most of it in the coldest place in the lower 48, which has worse weather than Alaska according to folks who have lived both places... and no I don't mean Juno) and I have yet to see this "fun" part.
bah humbug
No, I'm not bitter about the fact that I expected to be living in San Diego by now, not at all, why do you ask?

Swords.
It was like a scene out of fantasia... except it was swords who fought their own battles instead of brooms who wreaked havoc.

Dude, I'm from Massachusetts. It might not be as severe as yours but trust me, we know from winter. I know the bad parts of snow. I know it sucks to drive in (esspecially in the dark, which you're going to because the sun goes down at 4:00), shovel (esspecially off a roof, damn but roof rakes are unweildy) and all that but serioisly, it's Christmas. I feel like some would be nice.

Winds topped the 140kms last night.
Tens of thousands of power customers without power today.
Mine just came back on...but I do have a 7500 watt generator now... so power outages aren't all that big a deal ~:)

They're not that big a deal here.
We get major storms from down south...& some of them are major...but we get a weather system around here called a Nor'easter.
THose are nothing to sneeze at.
I prefer a huricane coming to one of those bastards.
They hit the Eastern Area of Canada ,as well as Maine ,New Hampshire ,Massachusetts sometimes.
in 1982 a nor'easter sunk the worlds largest drilling rig off Newfoundland,
So imagine a full on major huricane at freezing or below freezing temperatures !
I'll take a nice warm hurricane, any day over that !
all a hurricane does is blow a little bit & everything gets wet !
A nor'easter blows like hell, everything gets wet & then freezes ! while the wind howls even harder !
