The odd thing is I was wondering about More the other day and then he posted.

Going out of town tomorrow for a couple days. I'll just be over the Ohio state line at a friend's house and we're going to the county fair, where she's entered some of her art. I haven't taken my new car on the interstate yet so this'll give me a chance to see how it works there.

I placed that Mortal Kombat costume on a character who's primary attack set is Martial Arts (punches and kicks, mainly) and re-tinted the costume gray... with smoke clouds billowing off of him.

I know I can never set foot into a player versus player zone with this outfit on my character, because everybody will be out to gang rape the guy who looks like Smoke from Mortal Kombat, but still, it's pretty cool to watch him just go through a mission.

I seriously need to go and get the FRAPS demo again...

I was sitting here petting the new member of our family, a long haired dachshund (what it is with my folks and dachshunds, I don't know). I opened up Audacity and generated a 22k tone, then at random intervals started playing it in short bursts. Her ears would perk up like "What's that? Finally she started fidgeting on my lap, and I set her down on the floor where she trundled off to the living room.

So, a I have a question for any dog owners out there; what does a dog whistle actually do?

Really it's just like any other sound. Long, steady tones, even in human audible range, are very good for getting a dog's attention, as are very short concussive sounds. Stuff in the middle tends to get ignored. It just so happens that dogs can hear pitches that we can't.

My dog has radar ears, this is the position we call "yellow alert." He can also stand them up completely straight on "full alert" but I can't seem to find a photo.

This yellow alert was inspired by geese, which he had never seen before and was considering whether or not he wanted to chase.

I made toast with dinner tonight using a loaf of Boule bread I bought on markdown a the store this afternoon. Slice it up, layed it out on a pan, and spread some Country Crock honey-butter on the slices and toasted them underneath our oven's broiler.

It. Was. AWESOME.

Ooh, what kind of biscuit?

Apparently two of my bills are counted as late this month because I put them in the mail slot and no one mailed them for at least a week. :/ Not sure about the credit card bill, but at least the late charge on this one is only 64 cents. No idea why no one picked up the mail--they're usually efficient.

I just moved into a managed apartment community and I'm finding my mail takes quite a while. I mean, I'm used to a PO box that I'd forget to check almost all the time, and I still feel like letters are taking a while not only for me to receive but also to get sent. Then again, I've never lived in a large population area before like I am no, so maybe it just takes a while to get it out of the zip code.

Also, isn't USPS stopping saturday service?

I live in one too. My mail is usually pretty efficient but it wasn't this time for some reason. I think they will stop Saturday service but they haven't yet. Not that much ever comes in the mail on Saturdays. Whatever the case, stuff doesn't get counted until the next business day anyways. I tend to forget to check my mailbox here because mail is sparse.

I haven't forgotten you guy's or abandoned the place (NG) I've just been really busy this summer & work has been 2 plus hours away for every show except Hobo with a shotgun...so we stay in motels, because a 4 hour commute is too much on top of a 13- 16 hour day.

Going out of town tomorrow for a couple days. I'll just be over the Ohio state line at a friend's house and we're going to the county

My girlfriend & I were hoping to go up to Ontario & see her sisters, & then go to upstate New York & go river rafting. But work has cut into that again, I start a small show in Dartmouth tomorrow. It's just a week, but the summers end is in sight up here !

Still though, I can't believe your mail wasn't picked up for over two weeks. I can understand a letter getting wedged in a hard-to-see spot in the drop box or something, but that's just strange.

We've moved almost all of our bills online by now. After a couple of months we can even pay our rent online.

That's the only thing I can think of that happened. I haven't gotten the credit card statement yet so I can't really check on it. But if the one bill got there fine, the other one did too then. Since the checks did clear, they weren't lost in the mail.

From a conversation I just had with my boyfriend:

Him: It's like Yavin 4 out there. I hope the temperature drops soon.
Me: Does Tattooine have humidity? I've been wondering.
Him: Nope. Not any you can feel anyway. Enough that they use vaporators to farm moisture. Yes, I'm a geek. That's what Luke's uncle was, a moisture farmer. Those things sticking up in the desert were supposed to catch what little moisture there was. So there.
Me: Oh.
