Are you dead set on the Navy? You could try another branch. Or even look for a civilian job in relation to that program, if nuclear science is what you're really into.
I'm sorry you're having trouble but we all know there's only one government conspiracy: 911. Wait. Nvmnd.
Perhaps the Airforce? The recruiter I talked to today sounded a little more eager about signing me up, I'll try for something alone the lines of cryptology or electronics.

Boyfriend and I are planning a trip to New Orleans in November. Only issue is I can't leave work here and will need to tote my laptop, as well as dedicate some time each morning to work. The good news is it won't be very much.
Never been to Louisiana, so I don't know much about it other than some friends, Seven, jazz, Cajun food, Billy the Exterminator, and uncontrollable swamp-ass.
Also, knowing Dad, he'll probably give me a jar and tell me to bring him back a tar ball. My parents are so morbid. XD

Dude, I'm 27 and I'm not emotionally ready to have kids. Don't sweat it.
I think that's the major difference--I at least KNOW I can't handle them yet, as opposed to people who have them and then find out.

I don't really have any intention of having children until my late twenties, depending. Children just eat into earning power too much, and I'm not yet ready to sacrifice my career and profligate spending habits for a child.

something's telling me that people who are ready to have children aren't exactly worried about lost earning potential or the ability to spend their money on new TVs rather than baby food. Honestly, beyond time lost for parental leave if you choose to take it and maybe a couple of visits to the pediatrician, your earning potential will stay the same.
If you were coasting along so that you could live comfortably, you may even put more time in at the job to support the same level of comfort while raising a child. and the money you spend will be prioritized differently.
I think when you have a child your priorities totally change and your career is no longer as important of an issue. I highly doubt that when my father passed up further promotion he was heartbroken about it. If he were any higher up we'd of had to move every 18 months. Right now you think that's pretty cool and the fact that his family would stop him was giving something up in order to raise kids, but to him it wasn't a big deal anymore.

November is an EXCELLENT time to come. It's not cold yet. and you're gonna do some walking in New Orleans. It should be between 50-70 degrees F give or take. Humidity isn't horrible.
Everywhere you go will charge you for parking. Find somewhere to leave it and walk if you can.
If Cafe Du Monde is too crowded to bother waiting for in the French Quarter, there's another right outside the city that's never busy.
Don't try to drive down Bourbon St. It's always packed. There's always a parade. Mardi Gras doesn't stop down there.
The Insectarium is awesome. It may seem like a weird attraction, but go!
Eat at Mulate's. Trust me.
Billy is in Shreveport though, and that's northern LA. :-)
Also, knowing Dad, he'll probably give me a jar and tell me to bring him back a tar ball. My parents are so morbid. XD
or bring him some Katrina souvenirs. There's still plenty around. They haven't done anything to rebuild, because no one has done it for them. Unlike the other half the state that was brutalized by Rita the same year, or Biloxi which was erased by Katrina.

Actually, Billy lives in Benton but Vexcon is in the Shreveport-Benton area. He's got a terrible mullet but I can respect a guy that can fight an 8 1/2 foot gator and win.
Sure enough, my dad asked me to bring him back any tar balls, oil, or dispersants I may find.

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cup rolled ("old fashioned") oats
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 cup clover honey
1/2 cup smooth applesauce
1 tbsp molasses
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Combine wet ingredients and blend until smooth, then add in oats. Steel-cut oats will work too, if you want a smoother final product. Combine all dry ingredients in a separate bowl, blending with a fork. Add into wet mixture gradually and then fold in raisins and chocolate chips. Chill dough about half an hour. Heat oven to 325. Drop dough in rounded tablespoons onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 15-20 minutes depending on desired softness.
Here's the result:

The recipe's right there sweetie ;)
Oatmeal raisin chocolate chip. Much less sugary than the Toll House recipe, much higher fiber content, so they're actually kind of "good" for you. Nice soft texture and not nearly as overpoweringly sweet as some cookies. The original recipe I based it on called for vegetable oil - I think that's absolutely disgusting, so I substituted applesauce. It makes the batter less smooth, but, come on, they're oatmeal cookies, they're going to be lumpy.

My boyfriend just said he wanted to go buy oatmeal raisin cookies...maybe I should give him this recipe.
As for myself, I'm adjusting vision wise. My eyes changed over the last year so I have a trial pair of contacts. I got somewhat adjusted to those, and then I took them out earlier and put my glasses on. I'm afraid I may need a new glasses prescription, as I am having issues watching TV, but if I'm reading, I have no issues. It's just focusing in the distance. I did just try watching TV earlier and now I have a headache. These glasses are only three years old, too.
Also, speaking of my boyfriend, we booked the trip to New Orleans and we'll be going the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Everyone knows chocolate chip cookies are the best and nothing can beat them. By the way, all you Newgrounders, I am very proud to say that we finally managed to get over 1,000,000 views on this forum! This is the highest record obtained by any forum on the entire website! Shouldn't we have a celebration or something? Maybe make a "Forum Day" right now where we submit a ton of flashes about our experiences on the forum.

That's part of why I always add chocolate chips to my oatmeal cookies. Loves me some oatmeal raisin, but if there's no nice semi-sweet chocolate dotted throughout, it's just not the same.
If anyone is going to try them, I neglected to mention that the best way to handle the honey is to spray the inside of the measuring cup with a little Pam or whatever, or put a tiny bit of vegetable oil in it and swirl it around if you don't have cooking spray. That way the honey doesn't stick to the measuring cup and just slides right out into the mixing bowl.
Also, a half cup of applesauce is exactly 1.5 of those little Mott's cups for putting in lunches and stuff. You can use an equal amount of canola oil, but I hate putting oil in my cookies.
I'm tempted to buy some big chunk applesauce for the next time I make these and see if that enhances them. I kind of like cookies that aren't uniform throughout, and having chunks of apple sounds good.

Sometimes I think if I were illiterate I'd have a lot more money. Must've blown about $200 this week just on books in an effort to learn about the Julio-Claudian line of emperors. It's an expensive hobby, reading. You never think about it at the time.

Reading this book on the life of Caesar Augustus, and I'm struck by one thing:
Even the wealthiest people had pretty garbage lives by modern standards. I mean, no iTunes.
