I bought a pistol-grip for my Mossberg a while back, and today is the first time I've gotten the time to take it out and do some target practice.
Recoil-wise; you feel every bit of it, but it's nowhere near as bad as what I had been told ("you'll break your wrist!"). My wrist is just a bit stiff, but no worse than usual. Aiming was difficult, especially from the waist. I started off with deer slugs firing at water filled gallon jugs, and ended with buckshot, which made aiming a lot easier.
One handed it with no problem. :-D
My only complaint is the grip itself; it started coming loose after a few rounds, and I had to straighten it back out in line with the rest of the gun for my last shot (8 shots fired total). So I'm going to have to work on that.

the highlight of my saturday was buying a new cover for my grill. it's all fancy and can be extended if I ever get this smoker attachment thing for it and it even has a special little smoke stack bit on top which is great because the smoke stack effectively destroyed the cheapo cover I bought last year.
And I'm so pissed I bought a charcoal grill last year instead of this year. Last year it was impossible to find any type of charcoal grills, and I walk into Lowes today and not only are there a few dozen different styles of charcoal, there are these fucking awesome gas burner grills with an attached charcoal grill and a side gas burner. WTF so awesome and manly, and only $299! AAAANNNND I found a smaller charcoal grill with a side shelf. The only reason I bought the monstrous grill that I did was because it was the only charcoal one I could find anywhere that had a side shelf. And they have like 10 different sizes with shelfs this years.

I made a thread ranting on 15 year olds who've just read 1984 (or Animal Farm, or Lord of the Flies, or Brave New World) and suddenly they're geniuses...
My cousin read that 1984, and OMG-- he's acting like he's a psychologist or something...
But-- then I remember my own phase, and I think 1984 is a rite of passage.
Reading that and hearing American Idiot (or any Green Day Album... or Nirvana... or NIN-- even if they're not so popular anymore.)
Rite of passage... rite of passage...
and-- oh-- that thread really pissed of some folks too.
There was some great lolls right there-- but, I don't remember when it was made... 2003, 2004, 2005...

Dammit. Now I want brownies. That's a good sign though--I've had to force myself to eat today.
No, I'm not dead--just finished a paper. Took less time than I thought. But I have two more to write for Tuesday. I'll start on the next one tomorrow. I've mostly been holed up in here writing papers. Then once those are done, I get to spend time in the campus labs since the software I need is proprietary. Fun.
We're going out tomorrow for Mother's Day. Mom picked the restaurant. I just hope nothing there makes me sick. That place is hit or miss for me.

We carry the dual model you're describing at our store. Can't say I quite understand why you would want to have both when charcoal kicks ass in terms of flavor, but to each his own.
Somewhere in my dad's toolshed he's got an old walkabout grill, I'm getting the stuff together this week so I can clean it up and start using it. Get myself a nice hamburger patty press and some ground beef for cheap here locally, and I'll be in business.

My place is about 6000 sq ft. (yes that is Thousand) but I'm converting a 100+ Hay barn into my home.
The Basement (yes the damn thing was raised in the early 50's & sat on a concrete bunker built by unemployed german bunker builders ! ! ! ! Its a whole other tale, the problems this has caused) is my workshop & my single bedroom -in law suite they call it around here, but I've got it for visitors & friends to stay over.
I'm redoing my living room (16' x 38' with 12ft ceiling) have just finished a bathroom & will build the kitchen next, So lots of space on 3 levels.
The problem is there was no power , only 60 amps with 4 circuts , so that had to be completely stripped back to the power pole. No septic , no well, & 3 large spaces 2000sq foot , & no insulation.
So I started in the basement, & I'm working my way up...do you have any idea how much 12pcs 24x30 inch & 4pcs 36x48 in. R-2000 windows cost ? & that's only the windows that I've installed, I need more than that to finish !
I'm not complaining, I hate apartments, row housing, & suburb housing where your living on postage stamp lots. Fuck that I'd rather live in my truck in the woods than do that !
I'm out in the country, more than 45 miles from the city. Living on the Shubie River is a huge plus. Lots of workspace ,storage ...there are worse places , but that is entirely my opinion & many others would disagree.

Hey, at least they bothered putting it on a good foundation. The house I grew up in (the little 1200 square foot deal) was originally a sharecropper's house back in the 40's that they kept adding onto and adding onto until it got to be 1200 square feet... but they never bothered to put any of it on a proper foundation. Just rough cut oak beams (cut on site from felled timber) sitting in the mud.

For me, it would be more convenient to have a gas attachment, especially the little side burner to cook some sliced potatoes in oil, or a soup, or some kind of side dish and if I'm in a rush, I could use the gas grill to cook up dinner instead of waiting 30-45 minutes for the charcoal to ash over..not to mention coming back a few hours later after it's cooled down to get the ashes out of the grill. But I agree, I do enjoy the charcoal grill very much. I was just amazed at the selection they had this year as opposed to last year

Huh, I thought it was something related Dark Reign or screwing with Osborn in some way but...yeah, I guess I probably don't have that one then. I read precious little Spider-Man these days.
Whatever happened to comics being an ESCAPE from reality?
Marvel. Marvel has long taken the policy of grounding their fiction in as much reality as possible. It's why they don't use fictional cities and only have a couple fictional countries (Latveria and Wakanda being the bigs). In fact there was a storyline in which Matt "Daredevil" Murdock would have been elected mayor of NYC that was axed because it would have been too "unrealistic". But now we have J. Jonah Jameson as NYC mayor and Norman Osborn was head of national security for the last year so...they play fast and loose.
*arched eyebrow*

Wikipedia, look under "Avengers Disassembled" and "New Avengers" and that should give you a good explanation of what I'm talking about.

42 meters squared is more like 5000 square feet. 600 sq ft is 6ft x 10ft. A Bed would barely fit in that space, much less bathroom and kitchen appliances.

*60 ft x 10 ft
my bad... math fail still, very small. my bedroom alone in my apartment here is 10x12, so 120 sq ft, the theres a second bedroom a bath and a half, kitchen and living space. 600 is doable I suppose if you're talking about a studio without (many) walls, but it still seems small.

We too measurements last week, and not including two small closets or the staircase, the place is 400 square feet on the nose. I wouldn't say cramped, but definitely very cozy.
My place is about 6000 sq ft. (yes that is Thousand) but I'm converting a 100+ Hay barn into my home.
The Basement (yes the damn thing was raised in the early 50's & sat on a concrete bunker built by unemployed german bunker builders ! ! ! ! Sounds like an enormous amount of work, but converted barns are usually really really nice when they're finished.
Currently my workshop is a shared driveway and my guest suite is a futon in the living room, but you know, it works I guess.
I'm redoing my living room (16' x 38' with 12ft ceiling) have just finished a bathroom & will build the kitchen next, So lots of space on 3 levels.
It's nice to know that your living room is substantially larger than my whole apartment :/
Don't know how you're planning to do the kitchen, but my only advice is: tons of counter space. Also, if you're doing an island, try to get one that rests on legs instead of one that's joined with the floor. It's easier to maintain and if you want to change it later it's a cinch to do, and it looks nice. Since you're converting a barn, I'm assuming you have wood floors, and islands on legs with that flooring give a nice, open, rustic look to a kitchen.
The problem is there was no power , only 60 amps with 4 circuts , so that had to be completely stripped back to the power pole. No septic , no well, & 3 large spaces 2000sq foot , & no insulation.

Yeah, we built a cottage a while back and did all the labour ourselves. Windows were friggin' expensive, and that was ten years ago.
Yeah, it all depends on what you like. I guess a little more space than I have right now would be nice, but in another way this forces me to pare down my belongings to the essentials and things that I actually use.

42 square meters and 42 meters squared ain't the same thing Rav. Also, I believe you're mixing up 600 with 60. 600 square feet is, according to my calculations, big enough for 26.7 beds (twin extra long). Not bad!

I found my current place checking the penny saver for the area I was moving to, emailing any realty people advertising apartments with a short description of who I was and that I was not only interested in what they were advertising, but in anything that fit within my price range and anything they had coming down the line up until I needed to move in (sometimes they'll have a place that was on the market for a while, got taken off, and was sitting on the sidelines). I also called any phone numbers on craigslist or the local newspapers classifieds to set up meetings or to view apartments. It was kind of a pain in the ass. I found Apartments.com sort of useful, but I don't think I actually viewed anything listed there.

Awesome. Are you going for grad school? I'm not much of an urban dweller so I was sort of surprised at how DC has so many universities...like, I couldn't imagine spending 4 years in highrises for everything. Turns out one of the schools my wife applied to for a PT program leases one floor of an office building where they have their nursing program, MBA and DPT departments share.

Yeah, good fucking luck. If it's cheap enough for you to afford it without roommates, it's in a neighborhood where you WILL get carjacked, mugged, or stabbed (or possibly stabbed while being mugged and carjacked). Your best bet is probably to do campus housing, or find an apartment in Virginia or Maryland and commute. The Craigslist advice isn't all bad, but I'd use it for finding a roommate rather than trying to find an apartment - lots of scams in this area.

I'll have you know, their is no such thing as a British accent :P
"Britishness" is a concept the government has recently created in order to control us. Make us more patriotic and follow them blindly. As doing otherwise would single you out as non-british and essentially they want to make it a peer-pressure thing.
You know, just like being non-American is a crime. They are trying to establish that shit over here.
But I'm no daft, a know what their trying to do. The British government are sly bastards when it comes down to it! But I know their ways and know ways to counteract they ways.
