Thank you.
After all the commercials they run during Bones the suspence was almost high enough for me to watch the show. I can respect a good musical and I was actually in my highschool chorus but this show just does not click for me at all.

I just got finished with the first disc of season 1, and I'm on the second.
From what I understand, this is an issue about funding-- but that coach chick also has an edge on her that's going to be sharp on everyone NO MATTER WHAT.
But I don't see her as a villian-- not at least in the same mold of Willhema Slatter.
The conflict is really--

Okay. We did this Costume Contest on City of Heroes/Villains in celebration of the new update that's coming out, and the theme of contest was "alternate realities" because that's what the new update concerns, where up is down, black is white, good is evil and so on. Basically they wanted you to make an alternate reality version of your character, like; if they're good, make a bad guy outfit and vice versa, or whatever.
I think I posed a very legitimate question... and nobody ever answered it... so I shall try my hand here.
If my character is morally ambiguous or "neutral" in terms of good and evil, WHAT is his alternate universe character supposed to be?

Uh.....anarchist? In the sense that he does not believe in good and evil entirely, sort of like Rorschach, I'm going to guess.

Hi all, I just spent a week down in Lunenburg N.S.
We were working with a Japanese film crew. there were 24 Japanese people here with 5 Japanese Americans ,from New York city as translators.
2 of them pointed out something about Canadians I have never really noticed before.
The Japanese were amazed by how much 'unused' land there is here, lots of space & few people. When they asked us how far from where we were shooting we lived, I told then about 2 hours, our dolly grip said 7 hours, my brother said an hour & a bit.
They found that rather odd, that we discribed distance in how much time it takes us to travel ,instead of giving them the distance.
Isn't that how you do it in America ?
Does someone say, I live 40 miles from say New Orleans, or do they say I live about a half hour from New Orleans ? ( insert other locations near you )

Well, it's not like the Japanese have that much land to work with. IIRC, they live on about 25% of the land because the rest is too mountainous. Down here, some states are heavily populated, while others are lots of wide open spaces. But once you get to the Rocky Mountains, it's not like you can just plop a city down wherever you feel like it.
But yeah, that's how Americans do it. I always say I live a certain distance from somewhere. It took me 4 1/2 hours to get from home to where I lived in Ohio, and it takes roughly 2 hours to get to Pittsburgh. Though if you want to be picky, its 120 miles between home and Pittsburgh. I'll be driving back today.
I'm proud of myself. I spent less than $100 at the con, though I will say the booths I normally buy from were disappointing this year. Though it's kinda funny when I can go through stuff and say "I have this already." As for the other stuff I bought, I'm not sure if the emulators are on the CDs themselves but getting them won't be too hard. I'll just need to get ahold of a good game controller.

I'm horrible about saying the distance. I'll tell people all the time, "It's about 3 hours away" rather than, "It's about 250 miles away".

Well.... the way I've written the story for my character, he starts off working for a villains faction, and after parting ways with them, becomes a self serving entity who will work with either villains or heroes depending on his personal goals.
So I guess the question becomes, if you're a completely neutral aligned character, what would be your alignment (to borrow from D&D) in an alternate/evil universe?

Yep. I'm about 45 minutes from from Nashville going south or Bowling Green (Kentucky) going North, but both are about 30 to 40 miles away from me. Gatlinburg, TN, is about 3 1/2 to 4 hours east of here, Memphis is about the same distance time wise, and then when we went to Mobile, Alabama a few years ago for our cruise, that was about a 9 1/2 hour drive.
From me to you is a REALLY long fucking drive that I don't even care to ponder right now.

Hmmm. I'd say, if you're really a True Neutral in alignment... Then your flipside would probably be True Neutral too. But spin the character story around! Start working for the good guys, and then progress to part from them into a freelancer.
Problem solved?
OR. You could tweak the "Neutrality" a little and go for a Chaotic Neutral character and a Lawful Neutral character.

Ok, here's my thought. The oppisite of a neutral loner is someone who could not be more devoted to a particular side. Since you guy started as a villian maybe a good alliagence would work?

... I had to work the evening shift tonight at work, I'm just now getting home.
I asked a guy at work who plays D&D religiously and has for years, and even he was stumped at the issue. All I wound up doing for the costume contest was switching from an Agent Smith-esque suit and tie to a Steampunk outfit I had. So I went from one genre of Science Fiction to another. Still lost, but I got a cash door prize for participating.

Uh...what story did you read? Rorscach is a force for an absolutist moral view of "good". He condemns anything beyond the traditional view of "good" and "right" as unacceptable and actively rails against it and must always be beholden to that view. It's why he would rather be dead then deal with the events the climax of Watchmen creates. He can't live in a Utopia built on a lie.

Yeah. If you made a venn diagram of "People who dress up in revealing fantasy/sci-fi/superhero costumes" and "People who you want to dress up in revealing fantasy/sci-fi/superhero costumes" it would just be two circles that are really far apart.
Okay, I know, I know, it's actually two moon-sized circles that are touching nigh-imperceptibly. Whatever.

that guy is in a show called Castle about some horror writer who hangs out with a homicide cop for "research" for his books and in the Halloween episode he dressed up as capt. Reynolds and his daughter in the show was all "didn't you wear that like 5 years ago?" and he's like "yeah, so what?" and she's like "just drop it already"

Chainmail has no practical purpose on the female body (or any body, for that matter) beyond distracting enemies on the battlefield, and the piece she wants me to make for her will serve that purpose very well.

The entire point of Castle is an excuse to have Nathan Fillion back on TV being witty, thus continuing the Browncoat dream.

For me the Browncoat dream is more Serenity...which I thought was the Browncoat dream in general...ok Brian, it's official, one of us is very very wrong on geeky points we make in here...we may need to settle this with death rays at dawn or something.

I think I side with Keith here. Although Fillion was an awesome Malcolm Reynolds, when I overhear Castle or I happen to watch a few minutes, I don't get any Firefly vibe from him other than in that one episode where he put on a brown trench coat. Obviously, the show is not written by Joss Wheaton and I'd be skeptical of any firefly writers on the set of Castle.

Ever had a relative you could just throttle? I mean wrap your hands around their neck and squeeze until they're eyes bulge out of their sockets?
I'm related to the guy playing guitar, one of the many incalculable cousins I have. Out of highschool he was accepted to a prestigious culinary school in North Carolina, which he dropped out of. He bummed around for a while until he applied and was accepted to the Berkley School of Music, which he ALSO dropped out of. What does he do now? He's a self admitted "dirty stinkin' hippy," he works at a grocery store, and plays THAT kind of music.
And the thing is, I've actually heard him sit down and play guitar. He's not that bad by himself, not great, but not plain awful either. But this is the kind of crap he chooses to make? WTF?!

"Barbarella" as portrayed by Jane Fonda in the 1968 film of the same name.
I've never seen it myself, but I understand it has a cult following.
