I contracted food poisoning on Friday from sharing drinks. After figuring I'd seen through the worst of it, I decided to treat myself to an entire pizza and a generous serving of ice cream. Problem: I'm lactose intolerant.

Apparently I survived it though, so I decided to test fate again and try the same combination another time. I must be why Darwin's Theory remains one.

You're a much braver man than I, or at the very least, stronger in constitution than I. I'm just waiting for the day they make a soy juice that actually tastes like milk, instead of a vanilla milkshake. I miss my granola breakfast cereal, dammit. :-(

Soy is absolute garbage, but due to financial constraints I've been forced to substitute it for milk as often as I can.

I've also read that high consumption of soy products can lower your testosterone levels, but there isn't highly conclusive research on that, however much of the bodybuilding community avoid it like the plague read into it what you may, but I tend to be skeptical of it.

Now I hear you saying "Wait milk? What?"

Not sure about your local supermarket but there should be a lactose free milk range. If not, I'd search around for some it's more common than you'd think, I haven't tried powdered milk but you can order powdered lactose free milk from the internets. Not sure how long you've been deprived of milk for, but man, the moment I discovered it I was so excited I almost hopped and skipped like a schoolgirl.

Currently over cereal but you better believe I ate cereal everyday, oftentimes substituting or eating it immediately after a main when I discovered the miracle of lactose free milk.

S'all right. All is forgiven. :-)

The thing I don't like about Soy Milk is that it (the last brand I had being Silk) overcompensates; it's TOO thick and creamy, it's TOO sweet. If they toned down the taste a bit, it wouldn't be so bad.

I think the fake ones are, but there are real bacon bits on the market. I like to put some in with my eggs when making scrambled eggs, then put it on a biscuit with a slice of processed cheese (which doesn't bother me for some reason).

They use some sort of bacteria that eats breaks down the lactose, but leave out the rest.
It's very sweet, but not pleasantly. I personally dislike it, but you can add it to your cereal and you won't miss anything... it actually makes it sweeter.

As far as soy milk and feminization...
rubish.

Soy is delicious and healthy. Asians, especially the poor, have been eating it for generations, and you don't see men with breasts and acting like women.

Some bodybuilders add soy to their diet to make their protein more complete. They should worry more about steroids than eating a few edame pods, or a piece of tofu in their soup.

It much more delicious than lactose free milk.

That's wrong. My family does it all the time, and my housemates and I had the exact same course last night, I was the only one with the stomach ache. I've been diagnosed with it, after going to several GPs complaining about stomach problems. I was once shuttled away to hospital in a stretcher because I had cereal that morning. Yes, cereal. That was how I found out I was lactose intolerant, when my bowels almost exploded.

I've essentially forgotten the taste of milk 3 years after giving up on the stuff. I could switch over the lactose free stuff, but... it's just not the same.

How can you dismiss it before even trying it?

Lactose free milk, depending on the brand is fantastic. Most of the taste difference I'd say is largely imagined. It's a little bit sweeter than ordinary milk, something to do with the process by which they eliminate the lactase. So yes, Proteas I would strongly recommend you try it. I went on cereal binges after I discovered it.

And Stafffighter, I suppose Soy sauce is the exception. A very good exception. Amazing condiment, but soy milk is still disgusting.

And consider that all peoples' bodies changes. You could have eaten a whole pizza and a bucket of ice cream before, but sometimes when we get older... things don't work out as well when we do those things.

When I wrestled, I could have done that... and not have had any sort of problems (or weight gain.) I'm not exactly older, but I know that I can't do that sort of thing anymore without problems.

That's what my complaint was; it tasted and felt more like a vanilla milkshake than actual milk. It just triggered something in my brain that went "something about this just doesn't seem right" and it wouldn't let me enjoy my damn bowl of granola. :-(

I've found I can do with most cheeses if it's a single serving. Normal milk is out of the question, pizza I can do a slice or two of, and I mourn ice cream. I need to get some of that lactose free bryers they make, and get some mix-ins like reeses peanut butter chips and the like.

If soy doesn't make you effeminate, then how do you explain Thai LadyBoys?

That's right. YOU DON'T.

Proven fact: soy contains estrogen. Good for women in menopause. Bad enough to give men pause.

I played a rockabilly show to over a hundred people at a house party.
None of you care. Well, maybe you do. I don't know.

I cut Tommy Unknown's head at the show, and didn't even realize it until he came back later and said something. (No, not the "bleeding all over the place" kind of cutting heads. The crossroads kind) Apparently guys who can drink beer while playing with one hand are not common.

Also, I have HORRIBLE hair, the kind that only bees wax can help. I recently buzzed it all off, and now I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. If it was summer, I'd keep it buzzed, but the temperatures are not going to be cooperative this year. I can just feel it.

I... I don't even know what to say.

There is a defensive set of enhancements in City of Heroes now geared specifically for PvP, and is an Uber-Rare item to get. It's selling for 1.38 BILLION in-game cash.

I've been playing this game for the better part of a year and a half now, and I think I've barely scratched 200 million just in game cash I've generated on my own. Do these people have just that little to do besides sit in front of their computer screen all day long and...I mean... do you know how many characters I could enhance with that kind of cash...? BLAGH!!!

If it's anything like WoW there are gold mills. A lot of these guys probably go to a third party and purchase in-game money for real money.

Also there's that exponential growth through specialisation thing. Don't know the math behind it, but I'm sure you'll understand what I'm getting at. Maybe Elfer can help us out here.

On another note I'm also becoming really depressed because I'm beginning to wonder why I didn't do Political Science as a major, as I seem to spend endless hours studying it and obsessing over it. All these years and money studying and I only find out now I want to change when I'm halfway through. I hate my life.

Coming to think of it, I hate specializing period. Master of nothing studies.

If it's a hard cheese, especially if its a couple of years old (cheddar) you should have little problem with it, unless your severely lactose intolerant. It's the soft cheeses (which are really, really good by the way) like brie's, & fresh mozza that will really set you off & fresh riccotta probably keeps you close to the porcelain goddess.

Out of curiosity...Have you ever tried goat cheese(s) or lactose free havarti ?

It's an old joke. You walk up to someone who doesn't know about Lamb of God, and you talk about how it's your favorite christian band. Then they actually go LISTEN to Lamb of God, and their lyrics about, you know, raping people, and then watch t3h reaction.

I don't remember if you ever said what year you are in college, but I did my first 2 years at liberal arts and transferred into political science. So I was easily able to change things over halfway through. Hell, i found out that I wouldn't be able to graduate in the political science major so I switched again this year (the beginning of my senior year) to social science major with options of history and political science. I also decided sometime last Spring that I wanted to go to law school. Luckily there's no requirements for law school (like X number of years of chemistry, physics, math, etc). Either way, going to college from high school I wanted to do business. Then, when I was transferring I wanted to do criminal justice, and after I transferred it was political science, now it's law and somewhere along the line history got thrown into the mix.

You can change what you do whenever you damn well feel like. It may cost you a semester or two, but you can do it. And honestly, when you graduate it doesn't matter what your major was. Nobody is going to not hire you if you're perfectly qualified and have a 4 year degree because your degree was in political science and they wanted someone who has a 4 year in history. Hell, you don't even get close to that kind of stuff until you have a masters degree and that's for like literal history research fields...even then. All they care about is the lambskin, they don't care about how you got it (unless it was murder...they might not like that)

I've seen adds for that. Gagora.com specifically. I've never been to keen on the idea of doing it, because it involves an exchange of credit card/paypal info and giving access to your game account to a complete stranger. :-\

I'm just going to wait until I get a normal rare drop, sell it for a butt-load of cash, and then finish out my character that way. The normal ultra-rare recipes are going for anywhere from 50 mil to 300 mil a piece right now.

I'd say I'm moderatly lactose intolerant than I am severely. I can have some, but not a lot. But the issue is further complicated by the fact that I have a mold allergy, which makes harder cheeses a double whammy for me. Nothing like sneezing your head off AND getting an upset stomach.

Out of curiosity...Have you ever tried goat cheese(s) or lactose free havarti ?

Can't say I've had either of them. My town is on the outskirts of two metropolitan centers, so it's difficult for me to get anything I really want that's beyond a basic need without having to drive 25 miles out of the way. But there again, I could probably get either of those things at the local grocery store, I just haven't checked.

I believe I have just cause to be pissed off at Seven, Proteas, probably Skunky & any other American who has never bothered to mention ...
Mississippi Mud Pie ! ! !

Why were you keeping this a damn secrete ?
Why isn't that pie brought up in conversation more often ?
I know I've mentioned, at least once here, about having a desert I loved called 'death by chocolate' !
I'm not sure if I have mentioned my chocoholic tendancies....
Well Mississippi Mud Pie is better, if not 2x better than anything else I've ever had !
And until tonight I have never had any...although I believe I've heard the name before !
I have lost years of being able to eat this, my new favorite desert !

If your holding out on me about other ambrosia type chocolate deserts... just hand them over ;)

I've never had Mississippi mud pie is the thing, that's why I gave such an odd response. I've heard of it, but I can't say I've ever had it. :-\

I have had peanut butter pie, which basically tastes like a nice big frozen slice of deliciously rich reeses peanut butter, with a graham cracker crust. I've also had million dollar pie with maraschino cherries in it, my dad's favorite. I've also had a chess pie my grandmother used to make that involves 5 cups of brown sugar and a stick or two of butter... so damn sweet it would lock your jaws.

I also owe tony a debt of gratitude; I can't taste the difference between lactose free milk and regular milk. :-D
