I watch both Chopped and Iron Chef.

I could never come up with the stuff they do on Iron Chef, especially Morimoto. (isnt that his name?)

I also like the challenges, but they air the same ones over and over and over.

I saw Book of Eli yesterday and loved it, but discussing it would be borderline politics in the lounge. So I'll just leave it at, I really enjoyed it.

also because of the Fallout 3 similarities, yes.

Somewhere I've got a computer game based on Isaac Asimov's "Robot City" series from Byron Preiss Multimedia, for which I got a lithograph of the Robot Visions cover for completing.

Edited for great justice, give or take a knife.

I'm in the process right now of sorting through box after box of stuff I had crammed into my closet before I moved into the upstairs of our house, and I'm finding some stuff I've either forgot about or simply misplaced. The local Salvation Army store is getting a fair bit of stuff from me this upcoming week.

Now if I could just figure out where that ammo can full of pocket knives went.

No, not really...
they became Vivendi games, which is popular... I still like Prince of Persia, although some people say that's an old game by now.

They had a game they released with Troika called Arcanum. Same artists and writers from the old Fallouts.

It was medieval/fantasy set though, very similar to WoW and I stand firm in my belief that WoW copied that game. It was out way before WoW and theres a ton of similarities.

That game rocked.

I didn't want any pets because I'm sick of cat fur all over everything I own, but now we have 2 cats and they'll probably be around for a long time and then of course we'll have kids...so much for having nice things.

I remember when I opened my first checking account when I moved out of my parents house the banker made it very clear to me that it is not a good idea to play that game with checks because some checks will only take a day to clear and you could wind up paying a ton in overdraft fees. So, I have always been pretty paranoid about my checks. In fact, I don't even write a check until I know I have the money in my account. And I deduct the check from my checkbook register as soon as I write it so that I never have to worry about a check that takes forever to clear. My landlady never cashes my rent check until the middle of the month. Hell, one month she lost the first check and I had to send the other one. (Made sure to stop-payment on the first check, but I don't think that she was trying to get 2 checks out of me.) So I like to be certain I know my account is kosher to avoid stupid fees.

My boyfriend originally wanted to see "The Book of Eli," but after reading some reviews he thinks it's "Rapture porn," as he refers to the Left Behind series. So he'll go see Legion instead.

My dog died about three years ago. I remember I didn't get the Pets expansion for my Sims since I didn't think I could handle it. Now I'm fine, but I don't think I could handle a pet. Hell, some days I have trouble taking care of myself.

So he doesn't want to see "rapture porn" so instead he went to see a movie about angels cleansing the earth?
Also, something I don't get about the very premise of that movie. Couldn't God just like snap his fingers and then it'd be over? Dennis Quide has no shot against that.

I am making a "Childhood" post on my NG page for all the stuff I grew up with as a kid.

Already included are Bugs Bunny cartoons, Super Mario Bros, and the "Ninja rap" scene from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 movie.

I feel accomplished for the day and on to something grand.

You would think that someone who works in the entertainment business, & who actually works as a member of a film crew, would have some idea about what going on....well not me.

I just noticed in todays paper that Robert Downey won an Golden Globe award for his performance in Sherlock Holmes.
I've got to find out when that's going to come out on DVD. I love Sherlock Holmes movies.
So I'm off to IMDB to see if they have any info.....better late than never.

man I am so out of touch here in the boonies

My project is a lot more boring - I spent the last hour or so scouring, washing, and painting a rusty old cast-iron bench my mom gave me a while back. It was my great-uncle's. Circa 1900 - there's an identical bench with the original patina going or like four grand on a garden antiques site, but this one has been painted white at some point so it's probably worthless.

Almost finished, but I ran out of paint. Should have bought two cans, I guess. Going for black Rustoleum in the hammered finish. Should be nice.

If you read Revelations, the final battle between good and evil is over like that.

It's all the crap that leads up to it that people write movies about.

Post pictures when you're done with it, I want to see how that turns out. :-D

We sell the Hammered Finish Rustoleum where I work, but I've never worked with it myself, so I'm curious to see what it looks like on a finished project.

----

Today was my first day back at work after being on vacation for so long, and I had a chiropractor's appointment afterward. I actually felt worse after the adjustment than I did going in, because my spine was apparently a lot stiffer than I thought it was. I afraid I may have spooked a few other people in the office by going "OW!!" several times.

And say hello to my new project; Brychon, my Electric Melee//Shields Defense Brute in City of Villains. By nature of being a brute, he deals more damage as the fight goes on, but his electrical attacks are designed to sap endurance... so I could technically drain an enemy's ability to attack me before I'm done attacking them. >:-D~

that's a full body circuitry tattoo on him you see, fits the theme I have going for him.

All done. Snapped this while there was still sunlight. The feet were still fresh and wet, so I left it on its back for a while. The menfolk moved it back out onto the porch about an hour ago so we could pull the cars back in (I did this under the carport to cut down on wind and possible rain).

Considering that before it was kind of a pale cream color and absolutely rancid with rust, I think there is vast improvement.

My netbook decided to lose the driver for the scroll thing on the touch pad and I can't be assed to restart.

I am feeling sick again. I was sick last weekend and last week. I am so pissed that I got sick again. Not a flu or anything though, My temp was 97.7 last week when I was sick, and 98.1 today. Had a good 3 days straight of work at the mountain though to make up for not going in last weekend and I'm going to go to NY next weekend. Maybe ski at my old haunts. Haven't had a chance to ski some of their new trails they opened up last winter.

So, I've met an old friend from my youth a few weeks ago.
He's an artist now... and does photoshop on the side for extra bucks.

Years ago, we had a psychologist class together... I made a painting, and he kept it. It was a a bunch of squares with small finger painted images... a house, a flower, a virgin mary, and a butterfly.

I didn't know he kept it for so long, since that was in 2001.

And now,
he made art using my own art.

I told him that I'm having a stage reading at San Jose State of my play, The Butterfly in the War, and that if he make a poster or something... to make some interest in it.

And he used part of my art to make it.
This is a butterfly... originally, I had it made as many colors possible... and I finger painted it. So, those are my finger prints you see... but the whole concept of it is his... making it into a black and white and yellow art.

I loved it.

Anyways, here it is... I'm thoroughly impressed by it so that's why I'm sharing.

Now its an eye appealing functional piece of art.

Yes, but in the world of antiques, you lose a ton of value by "cleaning up" and repainting. They wind up selling for a lot more being rusty and having original paint. But since she mentioned it had been repainted before, it was probably totally cool to clean it up. If you're going to use it, may as well avoid tetanus.
