You can't say Merry Christmas! It offends people.

Still can't focus, but I guess it's natural. I got rear-ended when I was sitting at a red light. There was no damage to either car, so we exchanged info and went our separate ways. My guess is she hit a patch of ice since I saw her slowing down to stop in my rear view window...and she kept going. She said she didn't even feel herself move.
Also had a weird coincidence earlier in the day. I was at the gas station finishing up and Dad pulled into the lane next to me. XD
Will be in Pittsburgh this weekend meeting the boyfriend's extended family at a holiday party. I already know his parents. They're easygoing people. Easygoing as in they took their son to a Led Zeppelin light show when he was seven. XD

Here's something I've been wondering about.
If you blow the whistle on a submission and it gets blammed, do you miss the whistle point?

I would say yeah, since as I understand it you can't get a whistle point unless it's admin removed....Mal probably knows for sure though.

I'm not sure either, but what I have heard is that you do not get a whistle point unless it gets to admin review. But that's just what I've seen users in Where is/How to tell others, and not something I picked up from liljim or Wade.
Finished my last real final this morning at 8am (why is it when you sign up for a 9am class the final is always at 8am, at the end of finals week?) for a lower level US history class. it's funny, I was scoring A's in upper division history classes all semester and even getting an A in a class out of my field of study (social work) but this US history class was my toughest. The guy gave weird tests and talked about how federalist/anti-federalist each president was in class but asked about chronological order of tippecanoe, the revolution, the whiskey rebellion and Shay's rebellion on the tests.

Got back from a presentation form a science teach that went through astronaut training. He didn't pass but he got a chance to go on one of those Zero G planes, showed us a video of it, and damn, I've experienced zero g or at least close to it, but I would kill just to experience one of those flights.

Note to all; I did not actually snort an inluenza germ sample, I was just pointing out the irony of the situation becase I don't know who I actually caught this from (if it's the flu) because nobody I work with and nobody in my immediate family has been sick. But... I'm sick...s o I must have caught it from somebody... might as well have been a germ warfare lab in my shack out back.
oops. you guys weren't supposed to find out about that... not until after armegeddon at least...
I'm going to shut up now.

Went to Avatar, saw it in 3D, very good movie, makes you think if it is right for us to take what we want when ever we want to.

GREAT MOTHEREFFING NEWS.
My play "The Butterfly in the War" got a letter back from a professional theatre in New York and California.
Not an acceptance letter, but they're asking for my script.
This bodes extremely well for me-- once a theatre is interested in your piece, more than likely they will develop or produce it.
And that comes with monetary benefits... but that pales the benefits of watching your baby come to life.
Usually, quarry letters are ignored. They look at only agented submissions... which costs oodles of money.
Talk about beginner's luck!

A reputable agent will not represent your work unless they think they can sell it, and will only charge you a percentage based on the eventual sale of the script/story/novel/etc. If they don't sell your work, they don't get paid.

Then you'll be missing out on the real reason to see it: The visuals. Unless you have a home theater with 3D capabilities at which point I'll sit here greenly.
But seriously, it is the most visually spectacular thing I have ever seen. Full stop.

3D effects make me queasy. We have a very high quality setup in terms of audiovisual quality, but I will not be watching it in 3D either here OR in the theater.

Well, I've gotten three very nice surprises today, which more than make up for the upper respiratory infection I have (not the full blown flu).
The first one; silence. My brother got the painting done at his house, and they moved about half of their stuff out of the house this afternoon into their house and are spending the night. So it's actually quiet here tonight, and there's a good chance it will be quet here tomorrow morning as well.
The second one; classic christmas specials from my childhood on youtube. Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas, Rankin-Bass' "Twas the Night Before Christmas which I watched in reruns at Christmas, and the Garfield Christmas Special with Lorenzo Music as the voice of Garfield, not Frank Welker as Garfield SHOULD sound. I cried, and I don't care how many of you know it.
The third one; an early christmas present from my mother, a Korean made Stratocaster from Fender. She picked it up at a yard sale a while back, had it hid at my sister's house... it's cherry red and left handed, but strung and set up for right handed play.
This is turning out to be a fairly nice Christmas afterall. :-D

I like how this night is going.

Right now, I'm my own agent... but I hope that once I get some history behind me, agents will look for me. TheatreWorks is pretty prestigious on both sides of the US.
I've sent a crap load of 10 minute plays... (Including the "Buckets and Cans" in my sig)-- If I can get at least 3 more productions under my name, it will be a whole lot easier to be a professionally paid playwright.
Right now, I'm writing a play about the Pink Triangles, the ballet, and a complicated father/son relationship. That's as much as I can tell anyone right now because that's as much as I know... wrote the first 10 pages 2 days ago.

I bought the turkeys for christmas dinner last nite.
one is 5.8 kilo's & the other is 6.3 kilos .
So we'll have the same amount of turkey with twice the drumsticks :)
We both work today, so the start of chrismas candy making will be Sunday, along with the meat pies.
I also bought a bottle of Russian vodka, supposedly has a sweet flavor & no burn !
Martini's & candy ... Sundays going to be great, I just got to make it til then.

I decided to do ham for Christmas this year. 4.68 pounds of honey-baked goodness.
I would have gone for more, but ham is a lot more expensive than turkey - my Thanksgiving turkey was 27 lbs, but the grocery store was clearing out their frozen turkeys to make way for the fresh turkeys, so I got it for 39 cents a pound.

Video of my dog in the snow - I wasn't sure where they were, so I went to the basement door to look out into the yard, and Husker heard me and decided I was there to let him inside.
Bonus example of Steve's ridiculous dog voice.

Am I the only one who had very unsuprising flashbacks to the simpsons christmas?
Although in all seriousness if he had done that sitting down and then putting his face down thing I would have cried.

All of you people who I normally make cookies for , for Christmas, I sent them out today, along with quite a few Christmas cards.
I can't send you things if you're not on my list, so if you want on for next year, PM me your address. I know I sent several cards, and 4 packages.
Offtopic, fli, that's great news. Have you posted that script/story anywhere on here? Or is it something you've been exclusively submitting out your way?

Coolio 7.
I know for sure now that your package is on the way. It stayed in SF for a while, for some reason.

It's too big to post on the blog in its completion, but it's something that will be workshopped next year at SJSU. My old professor says he's really proud of me, and he's doing the favor of allowing the stage for me.
Soooo....
I'll be recording it and posting it up here... but that's in March.
The story is about a soldier who is haunted by a deaf Iraqi girl, who tries to give him a butterfly. He's faces the abandonment of his wife, the jealousy of his brother, and the sexual advances of his 12 year old neighbor. He has to figure out what the deaf girl needs from him, and the meaning of her butterfly.
Not a war story-- I think it's a ghost story above anything else.

I hope you are enjoying your Christmas, as with everyone.
I hope everyone is enjoying the other holidays, and feel happy at any point, in any season.
