I heard this not long after he died.
You know how celebrities always die in threes? Well Farrah fawcett, David Carridine, Micheal jackson. It's just like Billy Mays to throw in an extra one for free.

you know, that might be it. I think I meeded 8 credits of foreign language for Political Science whereas there is no foreign language requirement for my contract option.

Strawberry rhubarb pie in the kitchen, can't eat it until it cools down. It smells SO good. I think that's the only thing I hate about cooking - it smells edible way before it is!

A black guy at work told me he'd cut me if I didn't bring him some KFC the next time I went there on lunch break. He said this in front of a manager no less.
Couldn't make this shit up if I tried.

There's a copy-cat recipe for their chicken spices here. I've got everything except the MSG in my cabinet, so I may try it out here shortly.

Yeah, we have no KFC because of our Italian origins, apparently.

I think he was implying that it was funny that his black coworker threatened him over KFC because it is a major stereotype of black people that they are violent and that they like fried chicken. ;)

OH, that racist implication. I had got that.

Works for me. ;-D
It turned out I only had about 5 or 6 of the spices on that list, so I made a special trip to the store a little while ago to get the rest, along with Accent Seasoning, which is pure MSG. The seasoning mixture on that sight yields about a cup and a half of mixture, so you'll have it in abundance.
Result of the experiment; mixed. I skinned and baked about a dozen chicken legs with the seasoning mixture dusted over them, as apposed to breading and frying them (not enough oil for the deep fryer this week). The overall taste is fairly close to the actual KFC recipe; spicy but not overwhelming, with a nice savory finish to it.
Probably all that MSG in the mixture.
All in all, it's a pretty decent spice recipe. I'm going to hang onto it for use with other stuff... I'd love to see what it would do to a nice steak cooked medium well.

I had to bundle up last night just to sleep; our central unit went out. We cranked our gas stove to 250 and left the door on it open all night to keep the kitchen pipes from freezing over, and I had to scramble to find and fill a kerosene heater to keep the kids warm.
We're probably going to wind up changing out the central unit sometime before spring. Fun fun. :-\

Aaaaand with that, I am all but done. Just a few tweaks to one more final paper due Monday and a tiny ceremony of thousands of people and I will officially be a graduate of the University of Michigan.
If anyone wants to read a 20-page paper on the causes and socio-political ramifications of our advancing technology looked at through the lens of Ghost in the Shell that's been kicking my ass for the last two weeks, just ask and I'd be more than happy to email you a copy.
I better get a fucking A, goddammit >:(

Yeah, it really is hard to determine which is worse, too hot or too cold. I guess cold feels more correctable than the other but stll it's dibilitating. I submit this question to all of you.

I'd rather be too cold, for the simple reason that it's an easier fix; just layer your clothing and get out extra blankets. Too hot? Yeah... good luck with that.
But then... you're pipes can't bust in the summer.
I'm speaking from experience, though. The central unit is working now, but this is the second time it's done this in the last six months. The last time of course being right in the middle of summer when we had overnight lows in the mid 70's. That was fun.
