Actually my savored video game memories of the last week have been playing the sims, where the activities vary from"explore the cursed tomb" to "stomp the grapes for wine" and super dodgeball brawlers. The latter being a ds port of an nes rental I never counted on seeing again. Basically it's river city ransom characters playing dodgeball. It's awesome.

I just thought back to the when "3rd Rock from the Sun" was on and each of the main characters would turn to hysterics every time they saw Jello, thinking it some kind of man-eating slime creature from back home. Yeah.... Jello that can just about 1-shot you if you aren't careful. XD

Actually a lot of these games try to get away from that by having different actions that help at certain times and area of effect attacks that you have to move your character out of the way of. There's one boss in WoW who uses a blinding spell and all you have to do to avoid it is turn your character so it's not facing him when it happens.

Pretty much. Hamidon will spawn separate little electrolyte and mitochondria critters that serve the purpose offense and defense (those little yellow and blue dots inside the protoplasm) that you have to take out first before you can take out the core. I was on the team of strict offense taking out the yellow electrolytes first, then a separate team of people with ranged freeze/hold attacks weakened the blue mitochondria enough to be attacked, then when those two teams of critters went down everyone ganged up attacked the Hamidon Core. Being inside the protoplasm itself slows your movement and makes you more susceptible to it's attacks unless you have a certain rare power-boost item.

HOWEVER... when the Hamidon gets down to 75% health, it hits a Personal-Battle-Area-of-Effect attack that can one-shot everyone in range, so each team has one member who will quickly run to another part of the zone and teleport the whole team to safety (and ressurect the unfortunate ones). The Hamidon regenerates it's health, re-spawns it's defensive critters, and then you start the whole wave over again. You do it a total of 4 times (once at 75%, once at 50%, once at 25%, and then the final which is the kill shot).

Each wave took us about 15 minutes. This was after we went through the zone taking out about a dozen giant monsters of the Devouring Earth faction (like that Crystal Titan on the far right of that lineup picture), which we had to do in order for Hamidon spawn AND get that rare power-boost item. The Villain-side Hami-raid I did had 35 players, and it would take us a minute or two tops to take one out, the Hero-side Hami-raid I did had a full 50 players and we were taking those things out in 10 seconds or less.

Like I said; fun was had by all, and serious coin was made on my part. :-3

That reminds me of an ad for D&D I saw once. It said that if you're going to spend your night in a basement pretending to be an elf you might as well do it with real people. It's funny because it's true.

It's even funnier because of the irony; here's the ad, and here's The D&D Online MMORPG.

Not saying there isn't a level of cheap moneymaking in that but seeing as every fantacy based game owes heavily to D&D I'd argue they have a right to it.

I'm not trying to be exlcusionary in all this, so I'll explain.

MMORPG = Massive Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game, namely something like World of Warcraft or City of Heroes/Villains. Dungeons and Dragons is a largely pen and paper based role-playing-game which involves actual physical interaction with people, and that advertisement was aimed at poking fun at people who play games like WOW or CoH.

The irony of course being that Dungeons and Dragons now has a free online MMORPG.

The oldest game that I played was the Final Fantasy XII. and that came out in ... 2007? Otherwise, I play my old games ad naseum.

I understand. I can't play many games because of the way they set up the camera... first person view like Doom? Forget it, I get motion sick in a heart-beat. I have issues with my own game with the third-person-view camera if it whips around to quick as well.

So I hang around to my old games from the SNES days as well. I've gotten my characters up to Level 60 on Chrono Trigger and seen Samus Aran in her Bikini as well. :-D

You mean that Winter Olympics game?

I don´t get sick too often from things like that, on the contrary I tend to prefer first person view in a lot of games in which it seems suited. Morrowind, for example. Somehow, I seem to make the controls to respond infinitely better in first person.

Wonder what´s up with that.

Ace. Should´ve done that back when I still had an SNES.

Nah, I think he means a game called New Super Mario Brothers Wii or something like that. New Super Mario Brothers was initially a DS game, but they did some funky stuff with it and made a Wii version. It´s quite different, with all new bosses and a nifty special feature.

I´m waiting for Metroid: Other M on the other hand, seeing as NSMBW seems a bit more focused on multiplayer, which isn´t really that much of a big deal for me. I don´t have enough controls, OR enough friends.

I wonder how a side B`M`UP with Samus will look like...

I'm trying to find that particular picture of Samus from the SNES... you have to beat the whole game in under 4 hours in order to see her swedish blond-locked glory. But it's not the zero-suit like in SSB, it's this black singlet/haltert-top thing.

But I got rather distracted and side tracked by this guy named Reiq and his depiction of Samus in her Zero-Suit...

I wonder how a side B`M`UP with Samus will look like...

Yeah, doesn't look appetizing at all. That's brown sugar. Once you put the plastic wrap on it starts to ooze a little and gives full coverage, but when you pat it in place at first it sticks unevenly.

Also complete: mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole. Mom's bringing the pie and spare chairs!

This afternoon when I went home, we did start on the stuffing. Got the veggies chopped, seasoned, and stir fried and the bread mixed in. Now it's sitting in a crockpot. Mom's doing the pies this evening. Our turkey was nowhere near thawed, but we were at least able to get the giblets out so that should accelerate the process. We also set up all the silverware and whatnot so that's ready. We'll just have some last-minute stuff to do tomorrow like the mashed potatoes and gravy.

My younger cousin and his parents are coming tomorrow. The cousin's older brother had his wisdom teeth out today so I doubt he'll come around. How lame is THAT? I was considering maybe offering him a bowl of gravy though. There are two others coming two.

When I went into the garage this afternoon, I not only fell, I slammed my finger in a metal door in the process. It still hurts. Mom said she was sorry she wasn't around to see me fall. My family tends to think injury is funny.

Nah. Those are galvanized washers, rich with poisonous zinc to prevent rust. If I do anything, I'll probably load up a deer slug and snipe the stupid bird, or get out a sword and take it's head Highlander style.

I'm not buying those 3" 00 Buckshot Magnum shells ever again, though. The recoil on them is pure hell, they're expensive (even by shotgun shell standards), and it's my understanding that they are actually illegal to hunt with in my state... so they have no practical purpose besides home defense, and I've got deer slugs for that purpose.

Plus, the whole shoulder numbing pain of firing them left me with a big honkin' bruise on my shoulder. :-(
