Okay, I'm worried... not about the flu, but about its other consequences.
I'm worried that I won't be able to finish this semester...

and i'm worried that the public transportation will stop.
There's talk that they will not run the public transportation, essentially leaving me high and dry.

i need to finish this semester to get my second BA...
i need the bus to get me to school...

The flu has hit my college too, or at least, the word of it has. It turns out one of the ICT teachers/staff "just got back from Mexico." Whereabouts in Mexico and how long he was there seems to be irrelevant chatter right now, as rumours of having no lessons next week have arisen. I'm close to exams too, and while I think I'm actually relatively passive towards them (for various reasons), I'd prefer to, you know, pass them. I wouldn't be very happy with that week off, considering next Monday is a bank holiday, giving us a four day working week anyway by default. If anything, I believe this staff member will be checked out, and that's it. You know what rumours are like around students.

So, I suppose I'll have to encourage happy thoughts fli. When will you know what the status of the college is? Hopefully they'll do a good job of getting that out to you, since then the anxiety part is over. Of course, learning things for the exams will be hard, but the anxiety working with that is no good obviously.

Ah, good for you! I wish I was fit enough to join the military (I should do more exercise). How long would be before you are sent to a foreign base?

Good luck on your future endeavors.

Leave a damn military surplus company to have a solution for a national emergency that actually makes sense.

*shakes head*

I bought Violent Jay's "The Shining" solo album yesterday while I was out. IT IS ADDICTIVE, and track 13 is FUCKING GREAT.

I also got a free poster and comic book for buying it at Hot Topic.

Don't judge me.

I wouldn't have a problem with them as a food source...seeing how I like stewed, baked, bottled, fried & Bar-B-Qed rabbit. But seeing how the SPCA in this part of the world would FREAK, if you killed and ate one & they found out ... I just leave them alone if they leave me alone.

1) Cats are cuter.
2) A cat will only follow you around when it's hungry or desperately bored, otherwise it's fine.
3) A feral cat will take care of mice for you AND stay away from you, a feral dog has to be put down for everybody's sake.

I still don't understand what use a cat has..like, what possessed humans to domesticate them in the first place? There's this fuzzy thing with claws and teeth and it doesnt like you...why don't you let it live in your house and shit in your kitchen? That sounds great!

at least dogs were used to carry out tasks.

I like my cats. I will probably always have a pet cat of some sort. But I understand how they aren't really useful animals, aside from lowering blood pressure and stress by being around to pet. And, if you get an especially stupid one, it's entertaining.

I grew up with cats. I thought it was cool how they were all mysterious and could reach any solid surface. As mucha s I sitll like them I have fish now and I've seen way too many cartoons to have them in the same place.
Now domesticating fish, that's a mystery. Let's take these creatures who live in an entirly different medium, put them in a microcasm of their natural surroundings and look at and feed them.

You can also get in real trouble if you do that in the military. Adultery is a court martial offense.

I had a scary moment a little while ago; I was testing the sharpness of my sword by swinging at a cardboard box, and missed the box completely in one swing and hit the floor. I hated looking down when I did that, but... no blood, everything is in tact, and I only managed to gouge the floor in one spot.

The blade holds a semi-decent edge, I'd say that it's about on par with one of my machete's; far from fantastic. I probably need to ramp the angle up quite a bit. The main thing I'm scratching my head over right now is how much do I ramp the edge up to, if at all? It's 30 degrees as it is, and if I go any higher I might as well tell people "Yeah, this is my sword shaped lawnmower blade."

Bidding on houses #6 and #7...one of which is a total long shot, but would be amazing if we got it.

The other looks REALLY tiny from the front, but it's a TARDIS! Weirder, it's like someone took two small ramblers (1-level house with small kitchen, three bedrooms, full bath, living/dining, about 900 square feet) and just stacked them. Literally! It has two kitchens, two fireplaces, two "master" bedrooms...it's pretty wild.

It's currently being inhabited by an extended family. 6 bedrooms but there are like 10 beds in them. The older generation are definitely immigrants, but unlike a lot of houses where this has been the case, they've taken very good care of it.

Deck off the first floor, covered patio off the bottom - it's set into a hill, so the basement is invisible from the front but walkout from the back. Very steep incline near the property line, but I can make that work.

So we'll see.

The funny thing is, I have a pair of friends who describe their new house as a TARDIS as well. It looks tiny, but damn is it huge once you get inside. They're also going to pimp the baby's walker out so it looks like a mini-Dalek is running (scooting?) around.

My only complaint about the house is that they really, REALLY need to buy lamps. The installed lighting doesn't cut it.

A good floor lamp can really improve a room.

We have a sizable collection of lamps, since Steve's old place didn't have any overhead light fixtures in the main rooms and I was living in a rec room with those awful industrial fluorescent lights. My dad's girlfriend actually bought us a nice floor lamp off our gift registry - it's still in the box, along with all our other wedding gifts (except my spice rack, since I didn't have one and needed it badly).

So we're covered on that. ;)

10 minutes in the garage with a bench vise and one of these... and the blade is sharper feeling, but doesn't cut any differently. I need to find an empty milk jug or two liter bottle to use as a test subject...

And maybe one of those boobie stress balls Malachy is talking about.

If you squeeze boobies the way most people squeeze stress balls, you will probably not be invited to squeeze those boobies again in the near future.

I just went from sharpening swords, to anger over a method for doing it, to being mollified by boobs, and then talking about doing sexually explicit things... all the while listening to King Diamond and Pain. And that bothers me. BUT, I like the fact that it bothers me... because an insane person would not have enough reason or mental capacity to see that their actions deviate from sane.

Still, I have royally creeped myself out.
