I'm not much for the military, but I am enough of a realist to understand that we have to have some way to protect ourselves & others who need assistance .
I don't have a need for control or a desire to kill anyone.
I certainly refuse to get involved with an organization that requires you to listen to someone with half your own intelligence, but you have to listen to & obey ...because they outrank you & you have NO CHOICE ! (F^(# that)... but that's just the way I'm wired.
As for working as a cameraman, are you a photographer now ?
Do you have any audio/video training at all ?
Do you have any type of journalism training ?
You do understand that many of the photo's etc. that are seen world wide are done by people who are assigned to military units as civilian auxiliaries .
For what little I know about military photography, it's more tedious than watching paint dry, & paying strict attention to the paint as it dries ! All those 'top seceret' satilite photo's ( someone has to 'read them) documentation photo's of aircraft take off & landings, militayr exercises etc.
Check out the qualifications to become a military photojournalist... never forget just because they train you for something, doesn't mean that's what your going to end up doing.
Good luck, I myself would be interested in hearing ,what is needed for the job (what you already know), what's required to get the job (what you have to learn) ,& what is your chances of actually working in that position.

Yeah, I know, but I can't relate to that, so I relate it to things that I can understand. Much like American lack of understanding of soup in Mafalda.
I've been having that dream a lot lately, or variations of it. I don't have a project that's due, I don't remember what class I'm going to next, that sort. And once there was a giant cliff. Like what's what supposed to symbolize? It's weird that within a dream we never question the archetecture.
Anxiety and fear. Maybe because the most vivid experiences of those feelings were in those situations, you recall them in association, even if the causes are different.

Professors give you bad grades, just because students suck :P
That's why everyone goes =o when they find out my Math grades (srsly, people who I rarely talk to congratulate me)

On the subject of military service, Finland has this compulsory draft for 18-year old guys.
Here it got eliminated because Army people are animals, and they killed a kid. That was after Malvinas and the organized murder & torture of the opposition and terrorists.
Now, we have professional Armed Forces.
Fun fact: none of my older relatives went through military service.
I almost joined up, but chose to do civilian service instead. Ever since the world wars ended, finns have these weird dreams involving russian tanks, molotov cocktails (by the way, don´t let anyone tell you a molotov cocktail is a russian innovation, we finns made it as a primitive anti-tank weapon during the winter-war, finding a use for our vast quantities of moonshine) and massive ambushes.
lol. You have NATO now.
We thought it would be a good idea if every single one of us could use a gun, just in case.

Idiot-finder's just as good as either, though "taking care" of your account would entail just what exactly? Depositing-wise, I dunno if any of the mods would care to do that for an extended period. If it's more than that, you may have even a tougher time.
I'd say just let your handle hiberate while out at basic and job training. This IS just newgrounds after all, and seeing someone leave is a regular occurance... we all just hope and pray for the best of those who move on.
I would suggest the Army if you're looking to serve 4-8. Of all the enlisted men and women I've had the pleasure of befriending, the Army (and reserve) folk are more inclined to just cut loose and be "themselves"... though that turn of phrase doesn't really do justice to what I'm actually trying to describe. Four of the five marines I know are in it for the long haul, where only 1 of the dozens of army guys/gals plan on career service.
I only know one Navy fellow, and if you can't spend months at a time submerged on a sub the Nazy probably isn't for you.
Good luck and godspeed whatever you should choose though. Maybe I'll see you up at Camp Ripley one of these days.

Oh, and Lowe, the finnish school system is pretty regulated early on, but after nine years in primary education schools, freedom really kicks in. You can continue studying more advanced stuff at a gymnasium, like I did, go to vocational school and study a job you are interested in, or try your luck at one of the many Folk high schools. I don´t know what people at the Folk high schools do, but the rest of us might as well be on vacation. Well, maybe not us gymnasists, but the people studying at vocational schools are infamous for heavy partying, copious intake of ethanol and a careless attitude towards life in general.
Quoting my friends computer teacher when this man first introduced himself to his new class of computer students at vocational school:
"As far as I´m concerned, you can do whatever the fuck you want."
No kidding.
Note: my translation.
The gymnasists generally don´t have THAT much liberty, but it depends on their attitude. We get to design our own curriculums with whatever academic disciplines we want to. Some schools offer ready programmes that concentrate either on mathematical disciplines or more humanistic disciplines. My school however let the students choose freely. I stacked up more than a hundred courses, and I´m proud to say I finished them all! The real bookworm was a girl with a whopping 113 courses, but I´m not even close to that level of dedication. Oh, and we also get to go abroad and visit other countries for free the first two years of studying. Visited Italy last spring and it was really cool. We were robbed two in the morning at our hotel, but that is a story for another time kids.
Funny note: I scored higher in English than in Swedish by the way.
So now I don´t have the excuse "english isn´t my native language, so you gotta forgive me for any discrepancies." to rely on anymore. Bummer.
Before I go, here´s a few words of wisdom from our beloved slothy drinker:

;;; It's training & some experience, shouldn't matter that its Quebec. I do know from personal experience as a motion picture tech (grip dept) that digital is where its all going. So you can easily start learning that on your own.

I don't really know, but if your thinking along the lines of war correspondant, than I'm pretty sure you'll need some type of journalist training.

see if your local recruiters office has any information on the subject...if your still in school, a counsilor may have some info.
as before...good luck.

People close to you who are in or have served in the military.
Its good to get general advice all around, but in the end, you should see if you have any relatives or if your friends know anyone who has done tours of duty...

So long as the body count rises, you should still be wary...
From people i've talked to though, the only benefit that really seems significant in the face of your duty was the military housing for your immediate family...
If its for some form of "benefits" though, and you only want to lightly do your "duty", why not consider joining the Navy?

Here's something for the dumb criminal file.
A local guy decides to rob a bank. He hands the teller a note with his intentions on it. Unfortunately, the note was written on the back of his pay stub.
I'm not sure on how to comment on the issue of joining the military, which is slightly odd, because I spent part of my day here. The museum there is pretty good, lots of varied military stuff.
Anyway, taking my own views on war in general into account, I'm not sure I have real advice. Britain has had less of an emotional involvement in the current conflicts than the USA (at least, I would say), and I've never had a close tie with the military personally. I suggest looking at aviewaskewed's post again. I would say that's the best advice for now.
Anyway, like Ms. Seize, I don't really like getting political right here. I'm not great at communicating that part anyway, so yeah, that's it for me.

I need to be admitted in New Orleans for a few days, but thats 4 hours away and I work 40+ hours a week. Maybe this summer. I don't wanna wait that long...........
Argh. Is there no way around that at all, either issues with getting there or work? Like, little things that you could maybe take advantage of? With health problems, nothing can wait too long, but there's obviously so much on top of that. It's sad...

We did some shopping today.
I got a new motorcycle jacket. My old one is too thin and has no reflective material on it. the new one was a $600 jacket, marked down to $299 and then they took another 30% off the outlet price. I like outlet stores. But it's a real motorcycle jacket. Even has this fleece neck gator that is velcrowed to the lining, so that your face doesn't get cold from wind going under the helmet...you'd think a helmet that goes below your chin would be able to stop that wind at some angle...but it really can't. My wife got the ladies' version of the jacket last summer when she first started riding, now we match sort of, and I've got reflective lines of material, which will help a lot with being visible.
Also got a floor lamp from Lowes...Opened the box, and the fucking shade thing wasn't in it! Good thing I gave that kid my phone number, he said if I wanted to return anything they could look up my phone number and I wouldn't need the receipt, which I had thrown away after too. From now on I'm going to start doing that embarrassing thing my dad does in stores, pull the box off the shelf and open the fucker up before I put it in the cart!
Then we went grocery shopping.
Seven, get better!

Well about seizures, when I was little, like maybe 3rd or 4th grade, we had a girl in our grade with many issues, one of which were epilepsy. The thing is, that since she had so many other problems, like autism and what I assume was ADHD, she acted very different than other people when I saw them have seizures, instead of randomly flailing, she kind of just laid there, moaned a little, and moved her arms and legs in very small gestures.

I'm against the war and military.
I'm trying not to start politics in the lounge but damn.
I have a Quaker attitude in this matter (which should not really surprise anyone who's talked to me in these past few years...)
And I am not telling him to not do it.
I'm telling him to do it for love, and to listen his better half of his conscious.
And being against the military doesn't convey the same sense of being "anti-military."
It just so happens that my better half of my own conscious does not agree with anything militant.
Avie gave the best advice. Talk to the people close to you Dante. Let them help you make the decision.
Off topic, I had 3 seizures today and my little sister is in the hospital. So if you'd like to call me a bitch for any of the above comments, knock your fucking selves out, I have more important things to worry about.
get yourself to the hospital.
you shouldn't even be typing on the computer.
at least be near where people can visibly watch over you.

NE way, despite all the siezures and a little sister in the hospital, I have calories to burn. Gym/track get.
I would really recomend a hospital visit.
Seizures can do all sorts of damage to your body and your brain.
Not to mentioin what you could do to yourself during said seizure.

It's OK guys, seven does not have the crazy violent grand mal seizures where she foams at the mouth and bites timmy and needs to be put down...
either way, she knows when she needs to go to the hospital. By now she's already received enough frequent flier miles for a trip to Hawaii.
