I'm going to have one HELL of a scar from this, and some small nerve damage.
I took off the wrapping a little while ago for my folks to inspect, and my dad prodded the area above the cut. I have sensation along the area of the cut and the surrounding tissue, but there's one spot where it's cold feeling (when the boxcutter went through my thumb, it didn't go perpendicular to the bone, it went at an angle). I can still move my thumb back and forth and bend at the knuckle, so range of motion won't be an issue, but sensation is reduced.
YAY.

You might be surprised at how much sensation comes back. My little sister had major jaw surgery in high school and they actually severed some nerves, and except for a tiny numb spot on the very point of her chin, she eventually regained all her sensation.

Time will tell, I suppose.
There was one funny moment in all of this today, though. Because this happened on the job, it was filed as a workman's comp case, and I had to submit to a drug test. So there I was, in the doctor's office restroom, specimen cup in one hand, equipment in the other... and the bandage I had on my thumb slipped, opening the wound back up.
I quickly hauled up my pants, walked out into the hall, and said "This is about as much sample as you're going to get from me, nurse, I've got another problem..." And she quickly escorted me to a room where she helped me clean up my hand.
A few minutes later, I heard this patient out in the hall (older man, waiting on bloodwork) ask the same nurse "What kind of place are you running here? That boy went went down the hall fine and a few minutes later he came back bleeding like crazy!" He meant it in a joking way, but I'm sure he heard me laughing my ass off anyway. ;-D

Nothing grosses me out right now, I'm busy coughing up rock-solid wads of phlegm.
It doesn't help that every time I get a really juicy cough going, Steve says "God, that's hot," which makes me laugh, which makes me cough more.

Well I sure gave that nurse a good scare, that's for sure.

I saw the new Jason movie...
I feel stupid-- not as bad bad the Halloween remake, but--
I've purged myself of that movie with a combo of an ipecac enema, and simultaneous repression.

Man your lucky you didn't slice a tendon...that would have really F^(#&$ up your day. Not too mention all the BS involved in getting that repaired.
If you think utility knives make a jagged scar , you should tickle a thumb or finger with a skil saw blade some time.
But still 7 stitches is a pretty good nick !

How can people say Brits are joyless? Why, just this Tuesday - whilst it was Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and Carnival in Rio - it was Pancake Day where we...make pancakes. Then eat them.

9 out of 10 American believe that out of 10 Americans 1 will disagree with the other 9.

At least it wasn't my left hand middle finger, that would have made driving a bit difficult.

I went back to the comic shop and bought that copy of Sandman they had. it was the Sixth trade paper-back of the series, Fables and Reflections. There's a little bit of discoloration on the paper at the edges, but beyond that, the book is virtually is virtually flawless, and is an original from 1993 to boot.
I wanted to get another part or two from the "Dark Horse Book of" series, but they sold out of the other three pieces they had just in the day or so since I was last there. Go figure.

There aren't any comic shops anywhere near me. My best bet for real comics would be to drive 2 hours to Boston.
Good thing I'm not a comic book nerd.
I do have the sandman series and of course most of the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, the 2 Death books, I think I have a copy of Preacher, and Watchmen. That's it for comics.
books....now that's another story. We buy books by the fucking case, and I wish I were joking.

I have disheartening news for any comic nut here:
One of my good friends just saw a screening of Watchmen today, and she has reported back to me that it sucks balls. I am inclined to believe her, since Snyder's last movie, The Spirit, was also absolutely terrible (For those of you who haven't seen The Spirit, it was a mess from start to finish. It wasn't fun enough to be camp, nor smart enough to be witty, nor new or original, and it had god-awful acting.).
I'm starting to think 300 was just Snyder's fluke.

But dude, Snyder had nothing to do with The Spirit. It was all under Frank Miller's control.

MY BAD, GUYS. I had the directors penned as the same person, for some reason.
Regardless, I have reliable word that Watchmen is terrible. Which is a tragedy.

Yeah. Snyder did 300, which was a Frank Miller novel, but that was it.
