One week from tomorrow I find out if I got this new job.

Three weeks from tomorrow is my wedding.

Just another reason to love Fridays.

Friday, February 13th, 5 p.m. PST at the Shalimar Wedding Chapel in FABULOUS Las Vegas. Reception to follow after at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino at 7. The ceremony will be broadcast via live webcam, though I'm not sure if you can watch it after the fact or anything. I will definitely post a link if I can, and I'm sure there will be a photo gallery online within days of our return.

I would post a picture of the dress, but Spiegel's website is being pissy.

The weather should be nice, my dad just got back from Nevada and says it was in the 60s the whole time, and it sometimes gets as warm as 70 or 80 in February. Worst case it will be forty-five or fifty degrees, which is still warmer than here.

We're going to be staying at the Paris, and I'll be getting my hair and makeup done at TI with my little sister. I've never had professional hair and makeup, it'll be interesting. I'm still waffling on whether or not to wear the birdcage veil I bought. My sister and my dad's girlfriend apparently want to take me out to some all-male review the night before, but I'm not involved in the planning.

I'm going to book Steve a Swedish massage for the morning of the ceremony. He needs it, and since the bride always gets pampered I thought I'd share the wealth a little.

It should be a good time. All of the embarrassing members of the family are promising to be on best behavior. There are only about fifteen guests coming, though we don't have a final headcount yet. I told everyone they had til Feb 3 to RSVP, since that's the day I book the dinner.

congrats!!

I shall tivo it or whatever ^_^

glad to hear all of your family are going to be on good behavior! I wish I had remembered to make sure my slutty cousin knew not to wear a slutty skirt to my wedding, like she did to our grandmother's funeral..but I forgot to send out the memo, so there's a wonderful shot of her ass/underwear our photographer got while she was signing our guest book.

My original wedding date was supposed to be Friday July 13th, 2007 because we had our first date on a Friday the 13th.

Not so much mine as his. His parents actually boycotted his first wedding, so we're a little skeptical about their ability to be civil.

My mother went crazy and called everyone saying that we shouldn't get married and that my wife-to-be had bad pictures on her myspace (I guess she had a picture of her tattoos or something), and then my grand father fell pretty ill in June so we called it off for a year (we had only been dating for like a year and a half anyway). Then my grandmother passed away and her funeral was held on what was supposed to be our original wedding date. it was a pretty crappy summer.

My rule for dress code was "Do not show up at my wedding looking like you are homeless. That is all."

actually I worded my post poorly. My cousin showed up to both events (the funeral and our wedding a year later) in very short skirts.

Us too, first date was Friday, April 13th, 2007.

our first date was Friday, January 13, 2006

a Vegas wedding sounds awesome! And I'm sure your boy will love the massage. My wife is a massage therapist. She enjoys giving deep tissue..which is actually agonizing and pure hell while it's happening, but leaves you so super awesome after. Sadly when people ask for "deep tissue" they usually want a deep sweedish massage...which feels awesome if you're getting it too. Either way, just remember that gratuity for massage therapists are always appreciated and expected to be about 15-20% just like with waitstaff.. nobody ever knows that it's considered polite to tip...and tips are so awesome cool

If a member of my family did this I would never speak to him or her again. Seriously.

His parents boycotted the wedding and told everyone else in his family not to go because his brother was officiating, and is pagan. They're crazy Jesus freaks. So the only person at that wedding from his family was his brother. They have been absolutely forbidden from commenting on our choices regarding the ceremony, which is totally non-religious.

actually I worded my post poorly. My cousin showed up to both events (the funeral and our wedding a year later) in very short skirts.

Oh, no, I got that. I'm not worried about it, none of our guests have that tendency.

And I'm sure your boy will love the massage.

We joke that the only thing that allows him to stand up is all the knots in his back, and that if they're worked out he will be a puddle on the floor.

Should I do it?

probably best not to give the morons any more attention. That's all they want, so if you give them attention, even negative attention, they still get what they want and they still win. No matter how soundly you pwn them.

Ignoring them is the best way.

I have some wedding photos which would make for great madTV photo-story skits, because in one pic, we're talking to a friend and all smiling, the next is the exact same angle, but now my wife is making some type of hand expression and we look horrified, and then the third pic, same angle, my friend pops into the shot and is holding a flask and we're all looking at him.

I don't remember what exactly I was doing, but I was doing hand stands and round-offs or whatever you call it where you do a hand spring and spin in the air. Made for some cool pics that make it look like I'm break dancing

I didn't do anything bad to that tux. It was an awesome tux and it made me feel quite pretty, I would like to buy the same tux one day.

it was a rental and there were no problems at all when I returned it. My groomsmen apparently lost a couple of cuff links for their suits, but not me

My brother is dating a girl who is a practicing Wiccan Kitchen Witch, and there has been discussion of what their wedding ceremony would be like. From what I've heard, they've both agreed on a wiccan ceremony (handfasting), and... that's about all I know.

My dad, being a deacon, wants to tell my brother off (or at least he plays that way to be an ass). My mother, not giving a damn WHAT my brother does so long as he's happy, has been keeping my dad quiet. Me? I'm in the same boat as my Mom. Me and my brother were both raised Southern Baptist and we both know what the Bible says about marrying nonbelievers, but... my brother is the baby of the family. If it's what makes him happy, more power to him.

I'll say this much for him; that girl can flat COOK. And she actually called him up the other night and chewed him out because he didn't give her the chance to do the after dinner dishes before she left. And she's one of the few people I've ever met that can keep the idiot in check.

At my brother's wedding reception, they did this little thing with his wife's garter belt. It's like the bride throwing the bouquet. They had all the single guys come out onto the dance floor. Then my brother turned his back to us and tossed the garter belt over his shoulder. We all tried to grab it and we went down in a big heap on the floor (except for the guy who actually CAUGHT the thing)!

I did that too, except nobody went for it because my brother's girlfriend had pretty much faught dirty to get the flowers my wife threw, and so all of the guys in the room didn't go for the garter and my brother wound up having to pick it up off the floor.

His girlfriend is really pushing to get married, too. Last time I was up, we went to a bar and she asked my wife and I if they were cut out to get married.

At my brother's first wedding they didn't throw the garter. Instead they had all the single men play hot potato with it. Feel free to find that symbolic of how desirable the position was. His second wedding I did not go to and in fact never met the woman. As for his third, if you been here long enough you've both heard the Walmart joke and seen the kilt picture. The less said the better.
If he marries the woman he's with now, long story, my mom has flat out said she's not going. I should qualify that by saying she's not his mom. He's from my dad's first marriage and grew up in Maine with his mom. She never held that as a base against him but since, largely from what I've told you and purposfully left out, they are not fond of each other right now.

My brother married a worthless whore, however, I decided to be the "bigger man" and when asked to be his best man, and accepted in spite of all I knew about her.

Several years later, she left him for a bag of crystal meth and a plumber named Tony with a good dope connection after which she had him put in jail and tried to ruin his credit by not paying any of the bills until she got evicted, at which point my brother got sole ownership of the loan.

I now pay her half of the rent, and live there.

BUT I'M NOT BITTER. NO, NOT ME, THE ONE WHO'S OPINION WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED AND LATER HAD TO BAIL OUT THE SITUATION. NO SIR. NOT ONE BIT.

On the bright side, ends up Tony had the herpe, and now fatbitch probably has it too.

Well, maybe your brother doesn't have luck. How is he funding these marriages? Maybe your mother has a right to be angry at him if she paid in part or full.

In other marriage related news, the guy that's currently dating my sister said to his friend-- who passed to his friend, who so happens to be my friend, that he wants to marry my sister by 2010. I'm shocked, my sister has been sort of a bitch with him. She a pretty girl, not coquettte. But she's very business oriented. She said that she doesn't truly love him just yet, and that she wants to get her masters.

I'm not sure if it will be a good match either. Good for him that he loves her (I can see it)-- but at the same time, I think he's only going after her because she's so unattainable as a person... and a 26 year old virgin. We talked about this last night cause she's afraid that he's starting to become clingy, and he's a player... he's been married 3 times too, and he's just only 33.

I've been married once.
I don't look at marriage like its a baseball game, for me strike one...your OUT ! I'm not even contemplating it a second time & I know the woman I'm with now is 10 times the person I married . But I've been there ,done that, & I've got the $100,000+ divorce settlement paid for, to prove it.
THat cost has nothing to do with the damn Lawyers bill ! ! ! !
Also wedding parties might be a blast...BUT divorce finalized PARTIES ARE F^(#!&G SMOKIN' . IT took me a couple of days to get over mine :)

Basicaly the dude has forgotten how to date someone without marrying her. And since he knows I come here and there's a chance he might read this, it's totally true bro. Bro is his word, not mine.
Mom sees it as him living very irresponcibily which is bad enough to do to yourself but esspecially bad for his kids, which include adorible little twin girls.
Here's the thing. The woman he's seeing has kids as well, which happens so no points against her. But the weird thing is when I was up there they all called me Unkie. Unkie is the varition of "uncle" I go by amoungst the younger members of my extended family. I have a teenage neice who calls me Unkie simply because she's always called me that. These kids were teenagers when they met me, a man to whom they have no blood relation, and they all instantly took to calling me Unkie. That seems weird.
