So, what do people think? I'm a shitty artist, and even shittier with PhotoShop, but this is a quick and dirty rendering of what my rat mariachi might look like, color included. The shoulder blade should be BEHIND the ribs, not in front, but I drew it first (and in ballpoint) so it stays for this draft. I'm trying to decide if the bones would look better flesh-colored (i.e. no ink) or colored in. Colored in of course will take a lot longer and be more expensive, more painful, and take longer to heal, but no pain, no gain.
I was tempted to put a mustache on him, but I decided that was ridiculous.

I would watch a cartoon staring him. That being sasid death themed tatoos are risky but you have an additude that could pull it off.

Yeah. It looks a little shitty because I scraped some of the scab off too soon and it took some ink with it, so it has blank spots. I still like it though. Got it after seeing pictures of the White Horse in my Arthurian legends class. The professor was horrified.

It's a starting point, a proof of concept if anything. I'd get with either a tattoo artist or a cartoonist and see what they could come up with as far as their interpretation of it, though... I could see this done as sort of an Ed Roth/Rat Fink style, turned three quarters of the way to the left.
I decided today that if I were to ever get a tatoo, what it would actually be... I think the darkened silhouette of the kneeling angel from Wicked Jester would be it.

I'm hoping you're not talking to me, because I have no idea what you're talking about.
Prot, I love you, but you're still acting like I have no idea what I'm doing, which is a little bit offensive since you just said you don't have any tattoos. I have a tattoo artist I work with. We have a process. I come up with what I want, I sketch it out with my horrible artwork, and she takes it and turns it into something that can be tattooed on my body and not look like ass. This isn't my first rodeo.
And I would never have anything remotely Ed Roth like on my body. I hate his work and I think it's hideous. It is also not at all like the Day of the Dead imagery that I'm imitating here. So no. That is not the point of this tattoo. If I was going to do any particular artist's "style" for this tattoo, it would be the style of my artist, which is beautiful and original.
But I want a traditional Day of the Dead style for this. Back when I was just thinking about the calavera tattoo, before I decided to make it a rat skeleton, I mentioned the idea to Amy and she was stoked. She feels the same way about the Day of the Dead artwork that I do, and I know she'll draw me something absolutely beautiful. The reason I go back to her is because we're sympatico.

Kris dagger on a latin cross. Kris Cross.
just said you don't have any tattoos
It's not that I haven't thought about it, I've as yet to see a design I wanted to permanently affix to my body.
This isn't my first rodeo.

I promise not to post funny pictures in stupid threads, especially if said picture is overtly racist. Also, is this a new practice when an OP like AAA requests his thread to be locked up, and it doesn't happen for 5-6 pages?
I still have PMs from Funkie demonstrating reluctance to delete an old abortion thread of mine that trailed horribly off-topic thanks to a few over zealous posters... but he still did it, "because it's [your] thread." Either way, I'll eat a ban every time for each retarded thread I get deleted, especially if I get to insult the OP with a cagey meme before the thread turns into 14 pages of fagfest.
I'm diggin the tatts, too. If the "kris cross" thing wasn't too obvious, it should've been. I like your tattoo set though, Ivy. Haha, I thought the White Horse was a cave drawing of some sort, and was like, "freakin sweet!"
..ya gotta give the mariachi rat a sanchez, it's the only way.

It was actually fairly funny, if obviously overused in the general forum 3 years ago. *reminisces* Twas a succinct topic, with a misleading title and a one line opening post asking how we felt about Obama being elected.
I wasn't implying any insult to you, mind you (the thread I posted 'has a crayon' in was delteated). I think your thread is a better one than most others, though the behavior within isn't too far out of line with my shenanigans. You're an intelligent user who plans to come back once in awhile... the guy I was referring to probably won't be coming back. !!

Judging by skunky's lack of a response, either she's still pissed at me, annoyed at the idea of a "Kris Cross," or she hasn't signed on yet to check. Either way, I hope she realizes my apology was genuine, I don't know what I was thinking trying to give beginner tat advice to someone who already had several.
*looks around*
I'm going to wind up having to write an update for that knife sharpening tutorial, I've been learning a few things as of late that could prove vitally useful for someone wanting to know more about the subject.
For example; if you can get a knife fairly sharp using just a coarse stone (like sharp enough to easily cut newsprint), you've got a good starting point. I thought all you had to do was establish the edge and refine it until was sharp... but if you start out sharp, it will get uber-sharp as you go along.
That butcher knife I was working on last night? I had an edge on it, but it wasn't that great. My dad suggested I refile the bevel to a lower angle, and... it was able to pass the paper test after I flat filed it, following it up with some 80 grit sandpaper to take the bur off. He didn't want it any sharper (especially after he nicked his thumb with it whilst testing the sharpness of the blade).

I..guess? It's a stylized version of the heraldic flaming sword, which is the attribute of the archangel Michael. I've seen them referred to as keris daggers (Indonesia, Malaysia), but never as kris, unless we're talking about Guild Wars, in which case that's pretty stupid, but okay haha whatever.
I spoke without thinking, so a mea culpa is in order. I'm sorry. :-(
And I got a little bitchy about it. It's just something I take really seriously, seeing as how they're, you know, permanent.
I think if I did a mustache it would be like the one below, totally flat to the skull.

well I have arrived home & survived. The bone chilling cold raised up to just above the freezing point this morning & on my way back from the city, the temperature dropped like a rock off a building. Roads froze within minutes. Within 2 exits There were 6 car accidents everything from cars flipped over to one mini van sitttin up on a guard rail teetering back & forth, like a kids see/saw . One full size truck had opened a SUV from front to back & you could see the entire inside of the cab. two other cars were in the meridian way between the divided highway & they were now 1 unit. You could see cars up ahead start to lose control & be going sideways...IT was Nucking Futs ! !! !
Thank you very much, to the inventor of studded snow tires & having a four wheel drive didn't hurt either, Whew...I got my points, I got a couple of posts in ....I need a BIG DRINK...A tripple ! ! .
Take care all of you be safe...it only takes a second

Depends on how the stache looks.
There are two types of people with facial hair; those that should have it and those that shouldn't have it.
If the only mustache you can get is one of those pube mustaches (you know what I mean, go to any freshman class in highschool and you'll see it) then you shouldn't have a stache.

Well, rats have pretty impressive facial hair :)
Maybe instead of a solid mustache it would look good with individual whiskers that pull back into a curl.
