I think this is the point where we organise an intervention for Proetas.
And in another news, I am also on the thesis paper bandwagon as well. A thesis paper on the benefits of a flat rate tax system due by 8:00 am tommorow, so I'm starting now.

I just want to let everybody know that I don't sharpen my knives with these three stones, although I am very tempted too (on one occaison I did with the surgical black). Most of the knives I own might take an edge from these stones, but they wouldn't hold it for very long due to the quality of the steel.
That, and I'm more content with the idea that if I should slip and cut myself with one of my knives, I'll just give myself a flesh wound, not take the whole damn finger off.

Wow...
at the library today, my friend finds a cell phone... I tell him to turn it in, but he wants to spy on it... I'm like, "I won't be part of it..."
Until he tells me there's only pics of vaginas on the cell phone...
I mean, a full memory card... full of vaginal pics. I mean, page after page full of pussy. Pussy this, pussy that... pussy here, pussy there.
And now I think my hair turned grey...
Now, that's obession...

Power and presicion. The artisty of putting an exact use to an object. Knowing that this item is what it is because you made it so. very seductive

Punk: 1 a small burning brand used to light fireworks. 2 a variation of the word "faggot" 3 a person who enjoys being on the receiving end of male homosexual sex.
I will never, EVER, EVER like punk.
EVER.
If you want to call the style steam, which I've already heard of through the Goth scene (a few weeks ago I was commissioned to write a steam short story), go right ahead, but to call it punk is just...
It's fucking anathema, ok? Punk sucks. It represents EVERYTHING shit about music, style, and culture. All good punk sound like metal. Black Flag? METAL. Misfits? METAL. Ramones? SHITTY MUSIC. The Clash? Ska (ie, NOT THAT SHITTY PUNK MIUSIC).
As a guy who works up fresh talent on a pretty regular basis, there are two basic "green" schools of music: Punk, and Blues. Punk guys are the dumber of the two, because they DON'T EVEN KNOW THEY'RE BASED IN THE BLUES. Blues guys have a MUCH wider expanse of chord theory, even on the most rudimentary level.
I swear to god, if one more idiot tries to explain to me how the roots of modern rock music are punk, I'm going to gut them like a fish, scalp them, and wear their hair like a giant toupe`. PUNK WAS AN AFTERTHOUGHT. IT WAS A BUNCH OF LOSERS TRYING, AND FAILING I MIGHT ADD TO SOUND LIKE ELVIS.

Calm down, its just a name and actually has very little to do with punk at all?

To sharpen my straight razors with.
The thing is, you can use stones like this on any knife and get a uber sharp edge, but the drawback is that if your using the knife in normal everyday applications (rope cutting, box cutting, etc etc) the edge will be to fine for what your doing and will simply dull out in a hurry, so it's simply wasted effort.
Stones this fine are really more suited toward fine woodworking tools, kitchen knives, and straight razors.

I've got one piece of steel in this house suited for it, but I'm not going anywhere near it with these stones.... my ww2 katana. Not happening.
I would like to get my hands on one of these, to be honest with you. The destruction tests alone make it worth buying one.

lol, funk, the thing we were talking about started out in literature and yes there is a mix of sci-fi/industrial/rock music that has been adapted to the subculture of fans, but not the driving force.
Punk the word is used to describe anti-authority behavior, so when a fiction genre pops up as "cyberpunk" or "steampunk" it's about the characters in the book, not their music.
I however am a fan of the Clash and Sex Pistols because I enjoy the sound of the music and although there is always a bit of a punk in my psyche to dislike authority, I wouldn't identify with the douchebags in the mall that listen to green day.

I've just gone through my wardrobe and thrown out all the clothes I don't want/ wear anymore. I swear to god I had shit loads of stuff I'd forgotten about.
Now all I have left are some shirts, two pairs of jeans, a few t shirts and my waistcoats. All I need to buy really is some new waistcoats which I can pick up some ex-rental ones down the rag market for a fiver, another pair of jeans and some stuff to do some modifying with. Need to replace the buttons on one of my waistcoats as they have totally come off.
Any suggestions with what I could use as buttons that's a bit different? I was thinking of tryign to track down some type writer keys or maybe getting a hold of some skeleton keys or somethign of the sort and try and turn them into buttons somehow.

I saw a special edition of hellboy two that came with a B.P.R.D beltbuckle. You could probably do something with that.

That would actually be quite cool. Problem is one getting a hold of special edition stuff. I was thinking of stuff I should be able to find at my local rag market or something like that, or stuff from random shops. If I can find a BPRD belt buckle that would be awesome, and I'd use it, but I dunno how available it's gonna be.

When I said special edition I meant "that one at wal mart that cost a bit more" Maybe that's an American thing, I don't know. But if you were going to buy the movie anyway it could be worth looking for

Here in the states, it's legal to own a straight razor, but it's illegal to carry it around with you as you would a regular pocketknife, for obvious reasons (easy to conceal, extremely sharp).
I did a quick google search, and I can't seem to find anything against straight razors in England, but I did find this.

Behold, the power of the internet!!
Though, those are done as charms, ebay has actual keys by the lot. clicky.
--------
I went to a Sally Beauty Supply store today to see what they had as far as straight razors. They didn't. They just had these little faux-straight razors that had replaceable blades. Lame.
I went next door to the Cigar Shop to get a few wicks for my zippo, and no sooner do I get in the door than do I see a whole section dedicated to mug soap, mugs, old-style safety razors, and a gift kit containing a straight razor, strap, and stone. I about died laughing, I never would have thought a tobacco shop would have that sort of thing.... I guess it makes sense though, since cigars and zippos and the like are more to the nostalgia crowd and the like. I did get me some nice mug soaps while I was there though; "Col. Conk's" brand, one is a citrus lime scent, and the other is a Bay Rum. YUMMY.
Which brings me to my next question; anyone reccomend a good brand of cigars? My brother is getting into cigar smoking, and I thought I would ask for him. He likes the "Acid" brand of cigars, but he's wondering what other brands are pretty decent.

But I've heard rumors of this being the coldest year for CA yet...
I'm dreading that... I mean, last year killed of my guava tree... and I have a tiny avocado from my uncle's trees in Mexico which I want to plant, but I'm afraid it will be killed off.

Really the only way to decide what you like is to try it, but with cigars that can get expensive.
My favorite brands are: Romeo y Julieta, Carlos Torano, and Padron. I like some Partagas cigars, usually the bolder ones like the Black Label. Rocky Patels are good, though I don't like the square shape - mouth feel is as important as taste to me, but not everyone feels that way.
If he's interested in something a little different, I have fallen absolutely in love with a line called Java by Drew Estates. They're infused cigars - not quite a flavored cigar, sine the tobacco is not soaked in flavor. Basically they hang the tobacco up to cure normally and then they cover the floor with chocolate and coffee beans, allowing the tobacco to absorb those flavors. Really really tasty.
I also like candela cigars, which are a little harder to come by, but they have a light flavor and an unusual green color. You can buy them by the box in a variety of sizes from Thompson Cigar Company, which is a pretty good website if you want either a whole box (or numerous boxes) of one particular item or a wide variety sampler. They also sell accessories and humidors, and some of their samplers come with a nice metal travel case and a hat, so bonus there!
He followed me home, can I keep him?

Won't say "everywhere"-- but yeah-- I see them as landscape plants, but usually the males so that people don't try to rip off the fruit.
But this avocado I grew from my uncle's tree... well, these were actually avocados that I planted when I was like... 5 or 6 years old, in Mexico. And they're big ol' trees full of small sized but very tasty fruit. I brought two pits when I visted it there 2 years ago... one died to the frost, the other survived.
And I really really really want this one to survive because, you know, it's a heritage plant. I'm 27, and I planted the original pit 21 years ago. And maybe one day, when I have children and all that, we could start new trees from those pits-- and then they'll have something living to remember me when I'm dead.
Yes yes, I'm a big ol' green fairy...
And the funny thing is, I'm not out doorsy. I like gardens, but facing the big ol' wild has no appeal to me. Go figure...

In lieu of recent financial issues (see: bank losing money for no good reason AGAIN) I have decided to take up skiing on afternoons of Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Yes, I know, taking up the extra time at work is really going to be tough on me....
I had to lower my hours at my work-study position...But I'm sure I will deal with the temp. loss of $20 a week that the hours would have gotten me for the next week or so that I'm still training.
yeah...
