That's because some lotions contain alcohol. You shouldn't be using a lotion with alcohol in it on your face anyway.
Oh, and fli, I've come really close to flipping out and going Bridezilla on a couple of people already. One of Steve's friends tried to "negotiate" the when and where because the date and destination we chose was inconvenient for him (but not for EVERYONE else). And then Steve's mom, for a variety of reasons.
My folks are totally cool about the whole thing, thank God.
Our wedding rings showed up in the mail yesterday, and they're exactly what I wanted. Dress and shoes are the next thing, though they're waiting for another paycheck. I've managed to find lots of affordable options for this stuff. I think we'll be able to get the whole thing taken care of for under three grand, including hotel and airfare, clothing, rings, ceremony, et al.

I'm thinking of switching from blades to electric just because I saw some premium razor commercial that says you can keep yourself in them for a dollar a week. Making shaving sound like a cable plan is a huge turn off.

it's amazing how much money you really waste (and you realize that it's wasted about 20 minutes after the service) on a wedding. it is amazing.
the next amazing thing is 2 weeks later when you realize that all of the money that people gave you was spent on totally useless household items like a $300 set of sheets and comforter for your bed....
and then a month after that you realize that money is tight once again and you don't have any wedding money left to help pay bills. >.<
either way. still happiest day of my life, and I'm not criticizing. If you have any questions you can PM me and I'll let my wife tell you how to make it happen.

Well, we're not registering, and we've been running a household for ten months together. I don't think we'll be dumping any cash on sheets or household items.

Booked a package deal at a chapel in Las Vegas. No muss, no fuss. All we have to do is show up.

Go to your local antique mall, and buy an old style Safety Razor. You can usually find one for less than $15 (I got mine for $5). They take double edge razor blades, and you can get a pack of 10 for about $1.50.
If you went through one edge of the blade in a week, that's five months worth of shaves for an investment of less than $17, not including shaving cream. Compare that to how much you would spend on an electric razor and replacement blades.

How is an article about razors up for review on neutrality? Did you sneak in a section of straight razor eleitist propaganda?

It's "heavy in it's references to Gillette," which I personally think of as bullshit seeing as how Gillette invented the disposable razor blade AND the safety razor itself. It would be like writing an article on the often copied Les Paul guitar body and complaining that Les Paul himself OR the Gibson Guitar Company are mentioned to much in it.

Well, I'm going to a friend's wedding at Fresno (before prop 8 has a chance to pass.) And it's not exactly her planned idea. Sandy is a big ol lesbo bitch, but she's got a heart of a dainty Barbie girl.
Wanted a cake, white dress, and stuff like that. Ever since I've known her, she's been a big gurl. And for her wedding, she's trying to go down a few dress sizes for the pictures (which I will be donating for her.)
There's no money for cake... her family's being nasty to her... and she has no rings. But she's joking about buying some Burger King onion rings (if she can afford that!)
when I ask her about how she's taking it, she says that it's her day. It's a lesson in humility.
No use to be a bridzilla because she can't enjoy when she's worrying.
And that she's happy of finding someone special, and even if she not be having all of her family together... all you got to do is take things in strides.
I mean, she'll be making cupcakes and pie... and it will be in the backyard. Not exactly what she plans.
because, still...
she looks like one of the happiest girls around.
So, if you find yourself all stressed out... just remember that you're a lucky girl. You can't enjoy your wedding if you're miserable and stressed out, right?
Just passing along Sandy's advice.

Went to Meijer about a year, year and a half ago... spent ~$50.00 on an electric... no replacement blades, still works like a charm. Only problem is that it doesn't hold a charge quite as long as it used to...

She should try Etsy. If she can scrape together a hundred bucks she can get a lovely pair of matching or complementary titanium rings. Ours were $151 including shipping and custom engraving.

So it seems like I'm rather kicking into the gear of preparing myself for college down the road. I decided that I am dual enrolling this winter semester in Sociology from the local college and I joined Key Club. My credentials for things that colleges like to see were very slim (read: absolutely none).
Fun fun fun.

You mean the fact that they have none? My engagement ring weighs noticeably more than my wedding band, and it's a much slimmer piece of metal. Steve was astonished at how little his weighed. I figured it meant they'd be less obtrusive.
The surface on these is frosted, with a bright-polished comfort-fit interior. The only downside is that engravings on titanium tend to be shallower because it's so hard to engrave, but they're still very readable. Mine says "In brightest day..." and his says "...in blackest night." Because we're geeks, damnit.

The ones I tried on were a bit bulky for me, although they were really light weight. Although, I do enjoy the rather icky cuteness of the rings we got. (ogham tree alphabet of "Soul Heart"). The are white gold though.

that's awesome!
I also got myself a sort of manly engagement ring last winter, it's got 5 small diamonds in a row with some black painted thing with raised diamond shapes...i dunno, sort of cheap but I wanted something shiney >.<

Hey Alll
Hope everyones well, work has been crazy literally walking out of a venue ,drive across town do another show, sleep a couple hours, go work in one theatre, end of day go to another load in, eat shower sleep go, 7 days a week for the last several weeks, crazy amount of work & not enough experienced people to give you a choice of not doing doubles.
Any how about Proteas's shaving tip !
Here's another.
I ran out of shaving cream a couple of years ago & needed to shave to 'look' presentable for a meeting, so I used the liquid soap that was in a pump bottle & used a little water " DAMN" that stuff lathered up nice, worked fine & I haven't -wasted- money on shaving cream again.
When I asked a family member about it, he told me that's what Barbers put in their hot lather machines to make shaving lather for their customers...a type of liquid soap.
Shaving cream is a scam that many of us are too young to know the difference about.

The way I understand it, the reason soap works so well is because of the large amount of water that's put into it when building up a lather, something that you don't get in shaving cream. More water means softer facial hair and skin, means closer/smoother shave.
I'd LOVE to try a hot lather shave, though.
Oh, and for those of you wanting to buy a safety razor or a straight razor from an antique mall; Barbicide.

well, I finished Gunslinger from Steven King...
I'm not a fan of it.
Don't know-- just didn't catch my attention.
Thing is... I got the whole Dark Tower series on my shelf. I regret getting them all at once, but-- this was book sale and got them all for 5 bucks.
I did like The Green Mile... the only Steven King's book that I've read more than once.
Anyone else read the Dark Tower series?
