Your post was a decent post, but consdiering how threads in which you make statements about other countries compared to the US and make comments like 'Canadians always repeat the same tired, nonsensical crap like highly trained little parrots' mean the thread will turn nasty once someone certain other users turn up and take it upon themselves to ' put you in your place'.
So a combiantion of the threa dbeing worthless in itself as there is nothing to discuss and that is why it was locked.

We have an area like that near here, where if you drive five blocks the price jumps thirty or forty cents at least. It's because those two gas stations get their supply from different distributors.
I'm sure price gouging exists, I'm not that naive. There are certainly going to be gas station owners who jack their prices. But it's hardly a widespread practice, especially as it's incredibly bad for business.

Well, um, Bolivia won't send us gas because of their civil war, so we'll build a 10,000,000 m3 gas pipeline from Tierra del Fuego to Buenos Aires instead of from Bolivia to Buenos Aires (The Northern Gas pipeline).
Good news, we get gas, bad news, provinces like Misiones, Corrientes and Entre Ríos still don't get a gas network.
Anyway, hike on oil because the hurricane thingies?

You keep yourself safe down there Seven !
When Hurricane Hanna's remnants went through here last week (Sunday) I was working outside with my brother doing a series of high angle camera crane shots for a TV show called " The Week The Women Went" over 180 women came up main street of Tatamagouche & left their men & children behind for a week at a Spa...the men are left taking care of the kids, jobs, households etc. A dozen video crews follow the various family's.
It rained so hard on Sunday with no wind that at times it felt like we were swimming. Water was running down the villages main street at times at ankle depth & the rain made a roaring sound !
Warm almost hot rain, Str8 down with no wind , we both just took our rain gear off & in T shirts & shorts, we dealt with constant moisture problems in the remote operated camera system plus I had reoccuring problems with the Preston wireless focus system, & the lens spinner let heat build up between it & the lens , so our lens kept fogging up. It would have been an easier day, in the middle of February in 6 ft of snow & sub zero temperatures.
Work has been nuts all last week & starting tomorrow its going to be another week, wide open with little time to sleep.
Plus it just started raining again & tomorrow we're back in Tatamagouche for another day of shooting.
Wish I were joking.
So do I !
Have a great weekend everyone, stay safe.
It could be worse...it could be tornado season ! ! ! !

i keep telling...
bus passes.
Most people just travel less than 10 miles a day, more than likely it's going to be 5 if they live in a big or semi-big city. Using the bus makes sense.
So, unless you got more than 10 miles-- use the bus. It's cheaper to buy two ways, in most cases, or even the day pass. Use google's oil calculator. It tells the how much money you use in gas to travel a certan location versus the bus.

I live about 8 miles from school and we can either take the highway for a few exits, or take the country road. Same distance..but the country road uses less gas since it's about 25mph slower

For those of us in the country.
The bus is not an option...except for school buses , NO OTHER BUS EXISTS !
Gas went to $1.42 cents today...because of Texas experiencing a hurricane.
Why ?!
No one here knows, but since not 1 drop of Texas gas makes it to Nova Scotia....I believe its simply big business ripping us off.
Good news ! of our political party leaders is saying he will have a investigation launched - if elected-to see if the Major oil companies are in cahoots & are artificially inflating prices.
I'll believe it when i see it....& that's already too much politics for the lounge.

Checked the winners for Creative Arts Emmy, South Park and Simpsons won in their respective catergories they're nominated in, I was kind of hoping that SpongeBob will win for once, but as long Simpson's around the only one stands a chance is South Park and Futurama.

I might get to go to San Diego in October.
you know those work studies i was talking about?
Well, I finally got one. I'm pretty much spear heading a program at my school for group dynamics workshops. I'm doing the administrative duties of setting groups up finding people to work for the groups and developing other types of programs to offer. I'm also sort of an administrative assistant to the outdoorsy programs at my school.
Apparently you can surf off of the NH coast (we're sending a group out in a week or two).
I may even get to organize a canoe trip where I grew up.
The lady who interviewed me had a panoramic photo of my old home town on her office wall. She asked me where I grew up and pointed to the poster and said "lets see...right in this little valley" and then while explaining work experience I used the poster again and said "and I taught skiing at this mountain here"

1 hour, on the BART or CalTran, I could get there.
We'll wait and see what's up-- maybe if someone else wants to join in and make it an manage-et-toi sort of deal.
Tell me a tenative date in a few weeks, so I can see if there's something fun in SF in the Metro. It would be pretty dark and dank by then...
If you're here by Thanksgiving, we could do Christmas-in-the-Park in San Jose. Small nothing thing, but a very San Josean tradition... and it's only one train away, plus a long walk or a short bus ride.

I understand that part of it, but usually it only accounts for a 5 cent fluctuation from station to station in these parts. I almost cracked up on my way home tonight, though. BP had gas for $3.95, Flying J a mile down the road had it for $4.13, and the Keystop across the street had it for $3.81.
I know Flying J gets their oil from non-terrorist sponsored countries, and BP is British Petroleum and gets some of their oil from Iraq, but I'm not sure about Keystop.

As more and his blasted $1.42 a gallon for gas pointed out, not really an option for us country folk. Car pooling would be more economical, but I don't have any co-workers who live on my way to work. So, meh.
