I think I really am getting better at pool! I made some really fantastic shots this morning, and had a strong, reliable game on the simple shots. Even made a few of those diagonal ones that go the whole length of the table - those are my weakness. I was happy.
Oh, and everyone who loves the Joker should go pick up this week's issue of Birds of Prey. What a sick fuck.
Steve has a haircut scheduled today, and I think I'll go with. I want to talk to Jody and ask her if she thinks I have enough hair to donate without giving myself a crew cut. Hopefully she can cut the required ten inches for Locks of Love and style the rest. I'm hoping for something cute and messy that I won't have to do a lot to. I feel kind of badly that I've done these kinds of drastic cuts several times in my life and never thought to donate the huge amount of hair that's being cut off. I have loads of thick, strong hair, and I'm sure some little cancer kid would love to have it. So this time I'm going to try and do a good deed with it.
Driving down to Atlanta on Wednesday for DragonCon. I promise when we get back I will post a link to our trip gallery. I know everyone's dying to see more of that Poison Ivy costume.

We now have 2 gold medals (football, cycling) , and 4 bronze ones (hockey, judo, basketball and yachting). Yay!

"Virgin" hair (no dyes, chemicals, blow-drying, straightening) can sell for quite a lot to wigmakers. My hair has been dyed and dried and straightened and curled enough times that I couldn't sell it for much, and usually to command a good price your hair has to be REALLY long, so they can work with it. I don't think I could stand letting my hair get that long - I'd go insane and shave my head before it got there. But it's long enough to donate, and it's a good cause. There's enough cancer in my family that I care a lot about cancer research.

Ever read Pinero's poetry?
Very gritty stuff... anyways, there's a poem called, "Black Girl with Blonde Wig." Or something similar to that...
There's a horrible movie of his life with Benajamin Pratt, and it censors all the stuff that Pinero was all about... and Jesus Christ, he lived some wild life and had the craziest sexual experiences with some of the weirdest peoples.
And, oh-- there's plenty of drugs.
His fame came from a play he wrote in prison, "Short Eyes." Which is a very good play, but go and watch it... reading it is basically a headache (huge blocks of text, some huge letters, just something out of NG.)
Go get his plays or poetry book. I think you two could relate...

It's not about vanity, especially for the little kids that Locks of Love makes wigs for. It's about trying to feel normal, and trying to forget that you might die. It's about not getting stared at in the street and made to feel like a freak. My grandmother is not a vain woman, but she never left the house with her head uncovered. Having people look at her with shock or pity made her feel like there was no hope, and that she wouldn't beat it. She hated the wig, but it made her feel a little slice of normalcy. I can't imagine how a little kid, who just barely knows what death means, would feel.
It's not about shame, it's about fear. And yes, there are vain people out there with cancer, and they're wearing wigs because of their vanity. But just because they exist doesn't mean I'm not going to donate my hair for a good cause.
The hairdresser said I have enough for two or three small ponytails, but that my overall hair length isn't enough to do a single thick tail. She said she'd try to see if there was a different donation program that might require less hair, and that way it could all be donated.
Steve has practically no hair now, she really took it down short. It's fuzzy :3

Sorry I missed your post before I posted, sweetie. You know where to find me if you need to talk. Send me a PM or something if you want my cell number.
Heart attacks are hard, because even if the person gets better for a few days, you never know. My best friend's grandmother is finally out of the woods since hers. But if she's as stubborn and tough a lady as you are, I'm sure she'll fight this. Go be with your family and I wish you the best of luck.

I checked with ALICE, and this is what she said.
Human: How do you cook an imp?
ALICE: In the kitchen. First you must go to school for many years.
Human: But what if I don't go to school?
ALICE: Huh. It doesn't matter to me.
Human: So then how do I BBQ an imp?
ALICE: That's interesting. You should download or buy my chat robot software, then it would be possible for you to reprogram me for a variety of purposes.
Human: No, I don't like downloading stuff.
ALICE: Are you serious? What do you like?

How are you talking about Fable 2(yes It looks beatifull and I also want it) when the Prince of RPG (the King of course being the Baldurs Gate series for PC made by Black Isle and Bioware) comes out on October 28.
Sevensieze knows whats what, Fallout 3 the continuation from Fallout 1 and 2 is coming out, and I'm prepping for that.

Because Seven and I talk about FO3 all the time on IM? I've had the ultra-uber edition of FO3 on preorder for months, I just now found out about Fable II.
This fall has just way too many titles coming out.

The sun always rises, without fail
to whatever the weather rings, rain or hail
for the world turns and turns
as the sun giving burns and burns
the creatures live, for they must survive,
do what they do, to make it alive
yet regret still lingers, tho it has no purpose
for the animals don't care, from the hare to the tortoise
Humans though, are a different matter,
they think and worry, from the cop to the hatter.
Regret to them means so much, so wholeful,
yet others will say it was coming and they were told so.
But the world keeps turning, from here to sun,
and the star keeps giving heat to everyone.
The reason for regret is to move on,
for living in the past helps no one.
To 7C. Hope it helps.

Gentlemen, apparently I'm getting my first (second?) professional publication with an article about the different dimensions of interest group politics on domestic and foreign policy. The American Political Science Association is picking it up for their Spring 2009 convention and Fall 2009 journal publication.
Given that the majority of my experience has been furiously flipping through the pages of magazines in search of publications by George Mason professors, living vicariously through the work of others in an attempt to convince myself that my degree wasn't a three-year waste of time and money and effort, this comes as some form of a relief.

It's Wal-Mart, they don't pay you enough to be nice. Then again, they don't pay me enough to be nice at my job either. But I am because we get graded on it, and there's a promise of free vehicles and cash to the store that ranks highest in the district for customer satisfaction. But I have seen neither as yet, although I have long heard rumours of their existence... I am loosing hope, perhaps... the car is a lie.
