TheMaster has tossed that idea around a little bit, he's from Coon Rapids.. I don't think I'd participate for fear of killing someone.

My sister is angry... I ruin sappy movies for her.
For example, remember King Kong?
There was that moment when he's dying, and VERY suddenly an airplane shoots him from the back. I don't know... everyone else in the movies was just sobbing, and here was I... LOL'ing so hard that my belly started to heart.
And then the Notebook...
When the lady is dancing with the guy and she turns around and says, "Who are you????" And I think he falls over, and dies?
I giggled a bit, not because of the tragedy, but the expression on there faces--

Your sister loses automatically for having the ending of a remake of a 70 year old movie ruined for her.

Never saw that, but that does sound amusing
The ending to Never Back Down was like that for me. When the good guy quit the tournement that the bad guy had gotten thrown out of it felt like he had indeed backed down. But then they fought in the parking lot and everyone saw him apply the lessons his trainer taught him in flashbacks.
And then afterwards they gave each other that meaningful look. They respected each other for never having backed down. It was heartwarming.

Meh, it's like Titanic. You know how it ends. I went and saw it in theaters and there were women in the bathroom afterward in tears. Ridiculous.
Anybody else stoked about Fable II? My only complaint is that it's coming out at the same time as EVERYTHING ELSE. Maybe if I eat nothing but pasta and Banquet dinners I'll be able to afford all the games I want this fall.

So, a former co-worker of mine was killed in a wrong way accident tuesday, by some jackass who was trying to evade the police after stealing a vacuum cleaner. She had just gotten married in may, and was expecting her first child (who obviously is now gone too). It's been a long time, but I remember her as a genuinely sweet person, and stuff like this makes me truly and seriously think Peter David is right. God doesn't care, there is no great plan, he's just a prick. I truly believe there's some sort of universal balancing of the books, but damn...this just shakes that belief and makes me question the hell out of it.
Back to doing my little pop culture column of bitching about more trivial things. Maybe that'll help.

Thanks, it's appreciated. I'm not exactly sure why I'm so rattled about this, I guess because even though it was about 6 years ago, still, I was in that place for nearly 2 years, it was a small store, and it's somebody I talked to every day, plus, I hate they published the brothers reaction. "Why were they chasing him over a vacuum?" because you're brother was a fucking criminal, that's why, the cops tried to do their job and if he didn't have all these outstanding warrants and shit an innocent person would be alive, her husband wouldn't have lost his wife, lost his child, and her family and friends wouldn't be grieving. Yes, he lost a family member too, but I just can't buy that attitude, turning it around on people trying to do their job because his brother finally had a lifetime of wrong decisions ended by his own stupidity, and he took somebody else with him.

.... why?
I guess it's a good tool for witnessing to people, but, if you're already a Christian and you know the story, what's the point of going to see the movie? It's like my mom forcing me watch Titanic when it came out. I was like, "Mom, we studied this last week, I saw the History Channel Special and listened to the interviews with the decrepit survivors, I get the fact that it was a disaster."
I guess it would be kind of cool to see the efforts the filmmakers went to in set design, and watch 2 hours of subtitles (where the hell do you find a course on Ancient Aramaic, anyway?), but beyond that... big deal. If I did everything the Southern Baptist Convention told me to I'd still be boycotting Disney for their support of homosexuals (or did that end?).
Blegh. If you need a movie illustrating the whole ordeal to help reaffirm your faith, there's something wrong with you to begin with.

You've got to get it out of your system somewhere, might as well be here man.
I think when it's your time to go, it's your time to go, regardless of what you're doing. My uncle was shot to death over a stereo in college, another uncle was killed in a motorcycle accident on a rainy day, some of my cousin's friends were all killed in a drunken car accident at forty miles an hour (no seat belts), that sort of thing.
And then there's guys like my mom's ex husband, who has...
- been in 18 car wrecks (totaled the car each time, junkyard scrap that he should have been cut out of with the jaws of life)
- struck by lightning 4 times, hit in the head with a crane once (crushed two vertebrae in that one, was 6'4" now is 6'2")
- fell from a height of 40 feet up int he air onto concrete below and broke every bone in the left side of his body (puncture a lung and lacerated a kidney if I remember right)
- had the clap twice
- once had the gusto enough to work a construction job in Atlanta, GA, during the 70's whilst wearing a KKK shirt.
He's going to be 53 next year, and his only health problem these days is borderline diabetes.
Go figure.
