God, I actually hated Gatlingburg. I was hiking on the Appalachian Trail down there, and the comparisons from that place to complete wilderness for five days is horrifying. It's liked the Tourist Capital of the south, with all the crap in it. It's horrible.

I wouldn't say horrible, but it is definitely cheesy. I'm from West Tennessee myself, and I usually take a trip to Gatlinburg every year. It's definitely worth renting a chalet instead of getting a hotel room. The view is breathtaking. The pancakes are good too, pancake houses are literally everywhere.

Let me put it to you this way.... it's like general forum, but with a LOT more picture spamming. The other boards on 4chan are alright -- they have a photography board on there -- but the only thing I don't like about 4chan on the whole is that (since it's aimed at users sharing pictures) it will occasionally yield a bit of child pornography. And that pisses me off; I've got enough mental scar tissue to deal with without having to see that shit.

I'm not afraid of the other mods, far from it. I just don't fit in with the group as far personal interests go, and I don't want to go and be a downer on the rest of the group while their out having a good time.

Plus, I really don't want to share a single hotel room with about 8 other people. Nobody's talks about THAT part of it. :-)

I didn't get to see much of the surrounding forest area when I was in Gatlinburg last, my dad is the definition of a tourist... we mainly went into Gatliburg to look at the Ripley's Museum and a few of the shops around there, then went back to Pidgeon Forge and hung around the shops and sights there.

But it seems like to me that Gatlinburg is pretty much the Honeymoon Capital of Tennessee, everyone I know who's married has taken their honeymoon there... so I guess the tourist trap thing goes hand-in-hand with that.

I went back to the doctor today. My ear infection has returned, but it's in one ear as apposed to both this time around. I asked the doctor if it was something environmental, and he said there definitely was such a component to this because his office has been seeing about 50 cases a day that were allergy related with 10 of them being ear infections.

I got a shot, some pills, and instructions to take massive doses of Motrin IB for the pain. I took 600 miligrams of the stuff before dinner and now my ear is to the point where it doesn't make me feel like I just want to get a machete and go to town on the next Jehovah's witness that knocks on my door.

you'll only be a downer if you act like a downer. I don't see how not having the same interests will deter you. I went to montreal and really didn't find that I fit in exactly with everyone, but I still had a shitload of fun and I'll do it again.

what fun is meeting up with a bunch of friends if you don't abuse a hotel room with another dozen people?!

my area is very tourist driven, but for the opposite reasons. We have some really beautiful scenery and so hikers and canoeists and kayakers and other outdoor sports enthusiasts flock to our area. Lake Placid is right next to my town and it hosted the winter olympics in 1932 and 1980. The town is always busy year round, but it can get obscene in the summer. and these people are all there to visit the outdoors and do hikes and shit. You can't avoid the scenery even if you wanted to.

I've been to Upstate New York. I spent a couple of summers on a Cabin on Schroon Lake there, and yes we took a look at Lake Placid. Lake Placid would actually be really good, I mean really nice.....if they didn't keep squezzing the Olympics down your throat. We get it, you had the Olympics there twice in the 90 year history of the Olympics.

Crisis: I've had a few drinks. A minute ago I took off my glasses and now I have no idea where the fuck they are. While this may seem like a cheat method to feel slightly drunker than I am this could lead to problems.

Do you terribly need them?
You could do what I do... go without them for a few days and hope to find them by mistake.

One time, I lost them for 3 weeks until I found them under the couch.

To submit a patent, do you need to draw the product which you have in your head?

I had an idea for a camera. It would be a 120 film camera that could be converted into a 35mm camera with a film holder.

It would be similar to the Holga and the Diana camera in that it would be made of plastic. But, it wouldn't have all those light leaks, but it would keep that vignette/ blurry/ grainy look of the film that makes the Holga and Diana famous.

It would have very limited distant ranges: 3 feet, 9 feet, 18 feet, infinity.
It would have an open-shutter option which would allow for pinhole photography, and even night shots.

The BIGGEST important thing that it would have... it would have a way where people could rewind the 120 (or 35mm) film back to its roller. That sets apart from the Holga and Diana cameras, because with them... you have to change them in a dark room or a changeing bag. Which is... a total hassel. I know I hate using a changeing bag because my hands get sooooo fricking hot and sweaty and I can't do anything about it until I put the undeveloped film back into its cartridge.

I have sketches, but no dimensions and stuff...
I'm truly thinking of creating this camera if only I had the tools to make it.

It would be soooooo friggin retro too, very shiek.

This is a dated medium and fli's identity is easily verifiable by administrative staff. Steal at your own peril.
To answer your question about the need for my glasses, my script is 4.50. I'll just put in my contacts in the morning and then find the glasses. I really don't have a glasses face.

It's a dated medium, for sure... but, it has a cult following.
People are buying these cameras for hundreds of dollars, and they're made-in-China cheap plastic crap.

But, if there's a way to mimic the Holga and Diana, but make it accept the 35mm film...
I've talked to afficiandos. They love and hate those cameras. The hates? light leaks and no ability to rewind film once it's done without a dark room or changeing bag.

Right now, I've disassembled my Holga and my new Diana (which I bought for 105 bucks... and it's a camera the carnival used to give out as a prize back in the 1950s) to see their basic elements... and I want to improve on them.

I'm thinking, if it's all plastic... it could be sold for less than 50 bucks each. That's a whole lot less to what some people pay for the supposedly "toy cameras" Holga and Diana.

Finally got a day off at the same time as my girlfriend.
We put a new canopy up over our back deck, overlooking the Shubenacadie River.
It's 11 ft 6 inches by 25 ft. All the planters have there transplants & I'm ready for our very brief summer. (usually comes around the 2nd week of July & Lasts all the way to the middle of August.)

Call me a whoossey if you want, but I just couldn't lift that canopy into position by myself .
Ah summer, the time for eating burned meat, tinfoil wrapped vegetables, & cold beer mmmmmmmmmmmmm just lovin' the ides of clod beer on the deck this afternoon ; while being eatin' by the black flies.

Proteas, as far as I'm concerned, camping is a hotel room with NO room service !
8 people in a room is what I envision a 3rd world countries jail cell to be inhabited by ! !
( I personally wouldn't go there either.)
If it was me, I would make sure I had the money for my own damn room ! ! ! ( your going to have to start saving up for the next one man )

Although once word gets out you have your own room, your popularity is going to go way up ! ! ! !

I got my big toe run over by a car today. I think I might secretly have had adamantium fused to my bones or something 'cause it seriously didn't hurt at all. It aint even bruised from what I can tell.

I've had the heel of my foot run over with only a little bruising. It hurt a little bit, but I was surprised that I didn't break it. Then I started thinking.

Assuming the car's weight is 3600 pounds that's about 900 pounds of force on your foot. Bones are strong enough to withstand that force for about three seconds. Also the front of the car weighs more so we can safely assume the weight of the back end of the car would not cause too much harm.

Those others cams... they're great because they do have a cult following... but you got to tape them up with electrical tape for the leaks... buy a changing bag or light proof your bathroom... use the "rubber-band-35mm method" to those features.

To submit a patent, you have to have a very detailed description of the item that you are submitting, how it's built (and from what), and what it's intended use is for. If you are dead serious about doing, I'd get out the yellow pages and look up a patent lawyer.

I only got hit by one of the front wheels, so I got hit with the heavy end. It wasn't going that fast ( dunno if that would have an affect considering the wheel literally rolled over my toe) so that might explain it.

Either way I'm fine and seemingly in one piece.

As long as there is imagination, gullible people and a means to spread information there will always be conspiracy theories.

This is why I suggest we cleanse the population of all people with an IQ under 120. This allows us to remove gullible people stopping conspiracy theorists and terrorists, as lets face it, you gotta be damn gullible to think that blowing yourself up/other people is a good way to serve your God/cause.
