Nah, it's the common cold.

Anyway, two ways to be sure that your hometown is a shithole:
1.) Your manager has a knife pulled on him by a customer who's trying to run off without paying.
2.) Said knife-wielding chav wanker is so pig-ignorant, they're unaware that they should actually take the blade out of their pen knife before they pull it on someone...

No no no. Defininitely graduate.....but then keep going back to school and get more degrees. Get that double major BA, then the MA, maybe another MA, a Ph.D, another Ph.D.....and a third Ph.D.

Just keep going till they start naming colleges after you, then you can take a breather.
Then another Ph.D. ;)

I hope to be on the fast track and skip the MAs, head right to a Ph.D, but who the Hell knows if that's gonna fly.......well I guess the schools I'll apply to would know.....damn I'm a dumbass.

When people found out how long I had been a student at the local community college in the semester or so before I dropped out, I used to make a joke that either I'd graduate or have a magazine shelf in the Library named after me. And what would that shelf have on it? Soldier of Fortune, Mad Magazine, Guitar World, and Rolling Stone.

-------

I did something at work today that I never DREAMED of doing as a customer service associate, and now the cold reality of what I did is starting to sink in.

I told not one, but two separate managers "no" on a request, which is Insubordination and at Lowe's (as it probably is everywhere else) is considered a Class A violation of policy and can result in immediate writeup, suspension or termination. The request; come in at 4 in the morning to unload a freight truck, when I'm on the schedule to come in at 7 am. Reason; I am not a morning person, and have a hard enough time getting here on time when I am on the schedule for 6:30 am.

The incident happened two hours before I left today, with my department manager, a zone manager, the sales manager, AND the store manager all on duty. How in the FUCK I wasn't hauled into the office right then and there to be written up and/or fired is beyond me.

I told a few of my coworkers about the whole thing, and they were just as surprised as I am now about what I did, but then they couldn't hold it against me either, and one of them even went so far as to say that the chances of disciplinary action being taken against me were slim because I was one of the few employees in the store of decent quality (always on time, rarely ever calling out, always doing my work and always willing to help out others with theirs). But who knows....

In two weeks time I will have 6 years of customer service work underneath my belt and this is the first time I've ever done something like this. This is a weird experience for me.

A few weeks ago I went to Lowe's with my 8 year old neice for their kids workshop thing. We build little land boats and they gave me one of the kiddie aprons and wrote "Uncle John" on the name tag. It was a fun day.

You know, I've been at this particular store since it opened back in September, and I have never once helped to host one of those events. I've helped set up for them, but I've never actually been involved in one.

Just want to know, why do some people thinks disbanding our military is a good idea? It'll hurt the country more than it would help, sometimes I would question their intelligence and sanity at the same time.

I always try to analyze things from the worst case scenario, because I'm pessimistic as all hell. If nothing else, looking at things from the absolute worst prepares you for everything, and in fact makes you feel better about the situation (because chances are pretty good it's NOT gonna be a worst case scenario).

Worst case scenario is you get canned. You're not in Michigan, so that's not all that bad.

Emma's back in Shepparton for the weekend, so I'm very bored.

So, I decided to cook a nice Butterscotch pudding, I'm very curious how it will turn out because I accidentally put WAYYYYY too much vanilla essence in there, supposed to be a teaspoon, I put in at least 6 times that. Stupid unsteady hands.

Unless you're contracted to work those hours they asked you to do then I would imagine that they can't legally do a damn thing about it. No idea what it's like in the US but I'm pretty sure that you can make a case for unfair dissmisal in the UK If you've basically been fired for not working hours you aren't contractually obliged to do.

The Parents of Peter Behnke
[ADDRESS CENSORED]

To the Parents of Peter Behnke:

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that in the next few days, Peter will receive an official invitation to attend a 2009 People to People Leadership Summit. Allow me to offer my personal congratulations for Peter's achievements. You must be very proud.

Peter will graduate next year from the eleventh grade, so this is the last year he will be eligible to attend a People to People Leadership Summit. Selection for participation in the Leadership Summit is based on the academic recommendation of valued and respected educators. Peter was nominated by Educator Karen Lundquist (my principal) of Rapid River Schools, who qualified Peter as an outstanding student with high academic standing and promising leadership potential.

People to People was founded in 1956 by my grandfather, U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower, on the premise that peace can be achieved through understanding. Making a difference in the world begins with developing your child's own leadership skills, and the Leadership Summit offers a unique opportunity for Peter to join other highly motivated and accomplished middle-school and high-school scholars from around the globe.

You may have a number of questions regarding participation in the summit. You will find more detailed information in the letter Peter will receive soon.

Sincerely,
Mary Jean Eisenhower, President and CEO
People to People International

Ooo, ooo, ooo, time to premiere my new(ish) audio recording set.

One of you guys ever realised how much of a bitch English is to pronounce without sounding like you just came off a banana boat? Yes? No?

At 6/6/08 01:17 PM, Grammer wrote: morefngdbs, how the fuck do you pronounce your name? At least have it as something I could try to say out loud

I'm not even going to try.

Proteas = Pro-tee-as

Proteas. I think this one turned out relatively alright (or is the emphasis supposed to be on the -te-?)

Der-Low = Derr-Low

Der Löwe. Roaarrr.

Imperator = im-peer-a-torr

Imperator. I think that's how Romans pronounced it, sort of (they'd laugh at me).

D2Kvirus = DK2virus (srsly, that's how I say it in my head)

But fucking shit, I can't even get close to this one without sounding overly Dutch or plain girly.

D2KVirus (dutch)
D2KVirus (girly)

reviewer-general = that gay guy that keeps posting on my user page

Ahhh, even more possibilities to fuck up. This one if I'm not going to try. Still love you though.
