I'm looking forward to the show,to see if he can still rock, or if they just stand him up & keep him from falling over.

One of our regulars went to the show Ozzy played in our area, said it's mostly the latter. Still worth it to see him before he dies, I guess.

And to celebrate the start of Wintereenmas, Steve is playing Burnout: Paradise City and smashing up cars. It's pretty spectacular and noisy.

Class of 2002, but as a home schooler, our Graduation song consisted of a Church Hymn medley if I remember correctly.

I want to learn to play it, but it's difficult because Billie Joe's performance is kind of random and haphazard. Emulating the performance is one thing, finding a decent transcription is another thing entirely.

I'm not a big fan of live performances, to be honest with you. Either they are so well rehearsed you think they are simply lip-syncing to a tape, or they're so shitty you wonder why you paid good money to go see them in the first place. It's rare that you'll find an artist or band that actually can pull off a decent live performance. Either that, or my expectations are set unbelievable high.

Remember that concert my brother went to a while back? The one I opted out of going to, despite the fact that he had an extra ticket? Someone there had the presence of mind to record part of Five Finger Death Punch's performance of "The Bleeding," which we gave my brother hell for over Christmas.

I'm not saying Ozzy's brain isn't fried but lots of people use teleprompters.
As far as live shows, I can get the vibe of being there or whatever but albums of live shows are completly lost on me. Can't I just rerecord the album version onto cassette and then cheer over it myself?
Don't defend jams, you have to be hardlined into the particular act or just some stoner who needs an excuse to sway to enjoy jams.

One of the local gas stations around here sells 40's of Smirnoff Triple Black for around $2.50 a bottle. If I hear one more screaming little kid at work, I may just wind up buying aforementioned 40 and keeping it all to myself.

I mean... who the fuck brings a screaming 2 year old into a home improvement warehouse? What do we look like, fucking WAL-MART?! FUCK YOU PEOPLE!!!!

The one that really pissed me off was today at the Post Office. It was close to closing, so the line was on the longer side. The guy two places ahead of me in line had a little kid with him. This kid was all over everything, getting into the displays, trying to open the Employees Only door, kicking the mailbox doors, and generally being a pain to the rest of us. His dad thought this was adorable, and was like "Aw, come on, stop it," laughing and smiling the whole time.

Plus some prissy-looking girl stole my shipping box. I set it down to pick out packing tape and bubble wrap, and she swiped it!

Now I know why people shoot those places up.

I think my dear departed paternal grandfather had the right idea when he told my mother, "Remember, the Bible instructs you to beat your child with an iron rod if they disobey you, and not to be fearful about it for they will not die."

1. I already made a coherent comment on that particular quote.
2. Proteas quipped that, not SkunkyFluffy
3. stfugtfodie.

This is a thread made mainly for the regulars of the board. People who have been here awhile and have garnered a certain amount of respect and notoriety in the Politics forum. People who have made a name for themselves with stupid, pointless posts, like the recent influx of General Board rejects, are discouraged from posting in this, simply for the fact that...it's not the purpose this is meant to serve.

We gladly feast upon those who would subdue us.

Actually this particular post office is clean, well-lit, and pleasantly decorated. It's a fairly new one. And the staff there are actually fairly nice and helpful. I'm trying to convince my grandmother to switch because at the one she goes to there's an Indian man whose counter she always ends up going to, and he treats her terribly. My grandmother mails a lot of stuff, to grandkids in California and such, so I think she deserves a postal employee who doesn't treat her like shit.

I don't think they were suggesting you use like a pipe or metal bar, though. A "rod" probably referred to a switch or something fairly small.

Reminds me of that scene in Boondock Saints, "Rule of thumb? You can't do much damage with that, can you? Shoulda been the rule of wrist!"

I'm not sure why though. I went to a fairly "rough" primary school where kids brought in lighters and the like. Not as young as six though :(

According to the traveling rigger today, he can't perform more than once every 2 days.
So they're working day on day off, it really throws a wrench into the works when your used to 5 plus shows a week. Everything kind of moves slower than we're used to.
I am going to miss tonights show I got called for a 'daily', a rigging day on an MOW (movie of the week) tomorrow starting at 7:30 am. It's about an hour away so I'm going to catch the Monday night show that I'm booked to derig anyway.

" "You paid how much to see them perform live, and you're watching it for free on youtube?"

;
Actually my rates about $28.50 per hr.for this show & $30.00 per hr.on the MOW, I don't enjoy live shows from the audience anymore ,I like being paid to attend & I perfer my backstage pass so I can go where I please.

we may only be the local stage crew, but we're paid well & we eat good !

Oh, yes. And even though I work in a comic book store, frequently wear superhero shirts and such, and talk about geeky stuff EVERY DAY, I am also a girl and therefore know nothing about comics, Star Wars, or anything else remotely nerd-oriented.

We have one customer who totally ignores me, talking to my male coworker for hours on end. One afternoon I finally piped up and said something about the Star Trek episode they were discussing. The guy looked at me.

"You like Star Trek?"
"Pff, yeah!"
"I just figured you'd be more into the anime and stuff."

I had no response to that. Had to just close my dropped jaw and walk away.

Ugh my town has similar problems with children. Just the other day police made a drug bust on a grade five child who was dealing meth on the playground. Its a shame that children would behave in such a manner. I used to go to school there and I was never aware of this sort of criminal activity.
