I blame private education.
Anyway, scholarships are TEH LULZ. There's the University scholarship, they give you 600 pesos ( 189.27 dollars) A YEAR if your household income is less than 1200 pesos a month ( 378.54) and then there's the one given by the National administration 2500 pesos yearly (768.64) ,no idea of the requirements, and the Rocca one, 6000 pesos yearly, maximum household income, 2500 pesos (768.64) a month.
So basically, no scholarships for teh me =(
But I get free health care, and subsidized transportation =D
And a meal for 1 peso =D

And actually, if you pay attention, they're not even standardized from one site or company to the next. I had one chart come up and tell me that my ideal weight was 165 pounds.
Now, for someone who stands 5'10" tall and has a large frame, don't you think I would just look a wee bit on the starving ethernopian side to weigh that much?

Yes, they called it the "macaraina"
If that was culturally offensive I'm sorry

I saw Lions for Lambs today, excellent movie. I recommend seeing it before it is out of theaters, which judging by its box office performance is soon.

Of course it's doing poorly. It's showing the the deeply flawed political characters we've been lead to believe are hollywood schlock. When when reality is dramatic people can't be bothered to care.

Watched Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke today and it's bloody.
like seriously, the first time you meet the "princess of the wolf gods" the wolf goddess is shot and the princess (a human girl) starts sucking the blood out and spitting mouthfulls of blood into the river.

Hey everyone. Big thanks for all your comments and support, it really meant a lot to me.
Was at an event all day Saturday, the funeral home all day Sunday, and the funeral/wake all day monday.
Beautiful service done in the Serbian Greek Orthodox tradition. If any of you have had experience with Grk Ortho Christians, you know.
Service was sung in Slavonic, and it sounded magnificent. I didn't cry, but that's alright. I came close when thinking about my grandpa and mom, so I'm not too heartless of a bastard....
I was a pallbearer, which was a weird feeling.
For those who don't know, Serbs and Irish are a lot alike. We both do wakes afterwards. Difference is that Serbs drink for 1 day and Irish drink for 3. I've got both bloods in me anyways, so I get the best of both worlds.
Felt good to be able to comfort my grandpa and mom, just to be there for em. My grandpa's got a lot of friends, which was nice. He'll do OK if his friends keep him busy. As he said "This was a nice turnout. We even got some celebrities". Lloyd Carr dropped by for a few minutes, which was a nice gesture.
Since we're both in Ann Arbor, I'm gonna be seeing my grandpa more, just so he has someone to be with. He wants to sit on the dais when I graduate (being his first grandson out of college), so hopefully he won't be going himself anytime soon.
All in all an absolutely exhausting 3 days. These are the people who have been putting me through college and encouraging me to chase my dreams, and I'm doubling my efforts to not let them down. I owe them that much.

Misery loves company...
I admit... I do this all the time.
I'm back from work, and I got to edit a paper *blrrrg* and I'm... SOOOOO TIRED.
Gay bars aren't what it cracked up to be... you know.
At first, being hit up by old queens was fun. But when ONLY old queens hit up on you, it makes you feel like, "What? I'm chopped liver now?" Not that I'm looking-- just makes me wonder. Somebody asked if I was 20... I cried my happiness inside. Everyone always think I'm older.

Our HS Quiz Bowl team lost today. To a team with a SEVENTH GRADER ON IT!
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of HIGH SCHOOL Quiz Bowl?
Oh well, we were up at the half and kinda let it fall away, but it was a good match. First time our team has ever moved on from the first round. So, yay for us! =D
Got out of school all day: we were gone for the first four hours and then the coach (also the various social studies teacher) told us to just go home instead of reporting back to class. =D
Had lunch at Culvers, which was delicious. =D
TWELVE DAY VACATION, WOO!

my school had Quiz Bowl. It was probably one of the few things I didn't participate in. I always liked the questions, but wasn't quick with the answering thing, not to mention there was no point in joining because even if I did go I'd go as an alternate and never be useful, and my school never made it past the first round either

There's a gas station in town that sells those for like a buck a piece, and I'll have to agree with you; they are insanely good, but the chunks of cookie biscuit and vanilla ice cream core tend to throw me for a loop whenever I eat them.
We can't keep the Snickers ice cream bars in the house, though. I can buy two boxes of them and they'll be gone before morning. And Schwan's makes a version of them called a Golden Nugget Bar that's fucking HUGE, like two or three normal sized snickers ice cream bars put together.
it was awesome. life real fucking awesome.
I tend to stay away from the more graphic anime series like that, Wrath of the Ninja and the Streetfighter movie kind of turned me off from that kind of stuff. Action oriented anime I don't particularly mind, I just don't appreciate gallons of blood being spilled.
... I get today and tomorrow off, and I don't have to go into work until Friday afternoon. Am I able to get drunk? Yeah, but the only thing here is a bottle of my dad's fine whiskey (which I won't touch because it's his for special occaisons only), a small mason jar of white lightning, and a bottle of vermouth. My brother played a rousing game of "clean out the liquor cabinet" the other day and left me without anything good to drink... fucker.

I didn't find it overly violent. It's clearly much more violent than the other Miyazaki films we've watched, but at the same time the movie had this overpowering humans vs. nature part to it.
there was social struggle as a town fought with the wolf gods and how they had a seemingly evil, yet likable queen.
The movie had a lot more to it than just blood and mindless violence, it had a lot of messages in it as well.
And it wasn't all action, either. There were serene pans on rolling hills and mountains and plenty of reflective pauses. There was also a lot of talk too.
I liked it. It was a great film.
