We are in need of an update on NBC's hit medical drama, As the Lounge Turns.
I'm ok with all of you crybaby punks as long as you cut it out with the pompous-ass Roman talk. It's annoying and unrelated to anything being discussed anywhere. You people want to babble about Biggus Dickus or Incontinentia Buttocks or whatever, go make a Roman Club at C&C. It'll fit in wonderfully, ringht between the Anime Rape Club and the Fun Math Crew.

Yes, but then the missing link evolved into homo sapiens.
Also, I want a milkshake.
There was a gas station at La Serena that served some pimpin' milchéics. I don't understand why they come with a straw, though, it's like trying to sip gravel.

It always amazed me that even though I go MIA for 6-12 months, the same people always post in this thread.

I'm going to miss Heroes, Ugly Betty, and Scrubs.
I have all the previous seasons on DVD, but it sucks that now I will have to wait until next year when I can buy the DVD sets.
Because I want to see the newest episodes in the meanwhile.
Ugly Betty I can see at its website, but not the others.

And many other things have changed. Seven's a full on teacher now. You're getting ready to get married, Funk's in an entirly diffrent band, I lift slightly more.
didn't NBC just make all of their shows free on their website?
Did you see the Colbert peice on that? You have to sign up for them and then after three days they lock out and you have to redownload them with fresh commercials.
ABC (or was it CBS) has a site like that too
I think it's abc, cbs still has stuff on demand.
In other news, thanks to my local video store failing (very likely to stuff being on demand) I just got a killer deal on a bunch of videos and the game Bully. It's a great game but not killing people takes getting used to

So I made some orange chicken a la cellardoor6's news post. Pretty good, I GUESS.
I used whole wheat flour because my white flour container was almost empty, and I didn't want to get the bag out. Cooking stuff with batter is hard the first time you do it?
Anyway, stuff:
- I can see why a lot of people like orange chicken and go all crazy over it
- I found it a bit too sweet, maybe next time I make it I'll cut a bit of molasses next time, use a bit more soy sauce, and add a bit of vinegar to balance out the sweetness and bring in more acidity. The sweetness really overpowered the spices and garlic, not to mention the orange felt weak.
- Cooking things in a pan full of oil is scary
The stuff on the right is some sort of rice and vegetable thing I made up on the spot. Carrots, broccoli, zucchini and onion cooked with rice and chicken stock instead of water. Turned out kind of bland, I should have added more spices, as carrot ended up sort of being the dominant flavour. That'll teach me to run out of bell peppers, I guess.

A good investment for anyone who wants to cook Asian or Asian-esque food is a bottle of chili oil. It's available in most grocery stores near the soy sauce and rice wine vinegar, and kicks up all sorts of things, not just Asian food. I throw a dash into my tortilla soup recipe, use it to spice up stir fries when they're a little too bland, and substitute peppers with it a lot because I don't like the texture of cooked pepper.
Then again, I'm a major kitchen experimenter. I don't use recipes at all unless I'm baking and it has to be right for chemistry reasons. Even if I take a dish from a cookbook or a TV show, I never make it exactly the way they say - I use recipes to learn techniques, and then I build from that. I've had the occasional serious kitchen misstep, resulting in something no one is allowed to mention again (never make drop biscuits with baking soda instead of baking powder, btw), but for the most part my stuff turns out great. I break hearts with my food.
I once managed to make baked chicken that was almost too moist and tender, despite being fully cooked through. :)
He followed me home, can I keep him?

Yeah generally I find that recipes are for chumps, but I haven't made battered stuff before, and I don't have much experience with sticky sauces, so I figured I should use one for the first try. This one needs a fairly large overhaul before I'd make it for someone else.

Okay-- so, I'm adapting "The Things They Carried" for my final in my film and lit course.
Kiowa has an illustrated Bible in the story and he's a Protestant.
While I was writing of rather beautiful pans on these illustrations of Jesus carrying the cross, it has occured to me.
Do Protestants accept the story of Simon of Cyrene, or else the Fifth Station of the Cross? I mean, as a kid I learned that. But I was raised Roman Catholic, and so I wanna to accuate to a Protestant Bible.
Would an illustrated Protestant Bible have any reference to Simon of Cyrene?
Otherwise, I would have to eliminate that from my screenplay for accuracy.
Any Protestants, or somebody who knows this off hand?
Google hasn't been helpful on this aspect.

Der-Lowe... does it make me a complete music nerd that I recognized the tune in your sig from the sheet music before the lyrics?
Also, fli, you don't have to sign up for anything on NBC to watch new episodes of Heroes. Sure they'll play a couple commercials and have banner adds, but it's fewer than you'd see on TV and you can pause them if you want to skip 'em.
Brilliant idea, actually, and it'll be nice to see if they expand it to more shows and to see if other networks start following suit. Seems it's just the next step in the all-media font that the internet is becoming. I think that within 10 years TV will be mostly dead and most stuff will be "broadcast" over the internet.
Tis better to sit in silence and be presumed a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

We bought pumpkins and cornstalks today to decorate the porch. Andrew snapped the stem off of mine while playing around with it, which made me very sad. But I got a nice medium-sized pumpkin with smooth sides, very round, and a little smaller cute pumpkin. Not sure what I will carve yet.
I usually try to make cute/funny jack o'lanterns, and from the pictures I've seen, the guys take theirs more seriously and do the crazy-difficult ones. Whatever, mine will be fun and traditional.
My chocolate-chip cookies turned out marvelously, though I think I accidentally added too much vanilla. And I was using a different spoon to drop them on the sheet than I'm used to, so they ended up really big, but they're still delicious.
Oh, and I decided to add Cable & Deadpool to my pull list at work. Honestly, that may be the funniest comic book ever written.
