As in, like, you know, for reals. Borges = No nookie. Ever.

I should've said that it doesn't include illegal substances Or lies...
We're reading Borges at school, his short story "El fin" ("The End"), linking to it to the Martín Fierro.

I think SOME children, like you, CAN do it. I do NOT think most can.

We didn't have a Kindergarden per say.

I went to a Catholic school when I was younger and still in primary school. We had some sort of classes and the likes, but nothing really like what is offered at state levels.

Though, it's really not that big a deal. I mean, what do you actually learn in kindergarden that you didn't know already or learned in first grade.

When my grandmother used to teach, kindergarten didn't exist, She had to teach the little kid everything, and she also taught them to pronounce clearly ( I remember that when she told us this she gave an example with the word "oso", bear, and her face pronouncing loudly and clearly gesticulating: OOOOOSSSSSOOOOO, hahaha) something I could use.

But meh different times, she was allow to hit children as well. Pulling hair was the best technique according to her, because it left no signs or bruises.
According to my mother, the kids loved her, and some came by to say hello as they were adults.
Strange, huh?
But as I said, different times.

I'm still in school.

But many of them do not. Parents don't always spend time with their children. If they do not get it at home, kindgergarten is all they have.

And I learned all these things and I grew up in a working family. My parents read to me though, and I got dropped off at my church before I started schooling. We did lessons there, I guess you could call it preschool.

From what I read, most of what you just described should be known already at some level. I just learned mine via Assumption Church.

If anything, the lack of child education is just a lack of religion caused by aborted witch babies.

Well, this girl did skip kindergarten but I believe they had specific reasons, which I don't know.

But as for me, I started kinder at 4.

My fives are struggling big time. I know this isn't good for their self esteem.

They'll grow out of it...Kids are very quick learners. Best time to teach them another language too...

Wouldn't you rather her be a little bored in kindergarten, and succeed, instead of moving up and constantly thinking she isn't good enough?

I don't know. However, I don't think kids are bored in kinder. I remember I wasn't.

So did my little sister, and she barely made it out of high school. She was five when she started first grade.

My mother was a year ahead... the benefits of having a teacher for a mother.

oh crap...
I saw my mistake. She's 5 and she's already IN the FIRST GRADE.
She skipped Kinder altogether.

The kid is smart but I think she has it tough. She looks much older but she acts like a 5 year old girl, so people, as my other cousin told me, think that she's mentally retarded. It doesn't help that her English is often broken and the "to be" verbs are sometimes used improperly. Yesterday, she asked for water, and she told it to me like this: "I are wanting some water." However, the girl's smart if she's already learned how to converse in a foreign language very fluently in only a month. And she's already learned the alphabet and basic kinder stuff.

I am very impressed by her.

Not very shy at all... I was talking to her and she kept calling me "tio" (uncle) but that's because she's so young and I'm so old. I kept insisting that she call me "primo" (cousin) but I guess there's nothing wrong in her calling me uncle. Mmmm... she kept calling my husband as "tio" too. She can't fully understand how he's part of the family, but I told her he's my best friend and I guess she's was satisfied like that. I'm sure that when she's older... family will start talking shit about me. Then she'll learn more about me, but she'll learn all the wrong things about me.

*sigh*
I can sense that in my bones.. I just hope she can enjoy her innocence for a long time. And hopefully she'll give me a chance to let her know me for who I am... and not on the thing that my mother's family still considers taboo.

She loved my ringneck doves. She got to pet them and feed them, and my god, how wonderful it is too see a happy child live innocently.

I'm not debating against you and I would listen to you if this was my own kid. I don't truly have an opinion on that matter. I was just saying she's 5 and in the first grade just like me when I was her age.

pinkie-truce?

Hope it all works out for her fli. She sounds like a lovely girl.

I'm fond of this girl and although I don't get along with her mother (because she's a huge bitch), I'm just so glad to know that she produced something so sweet and innocent as my cousin.

We're having a veritable cold-wave here... highs in the upper 80's to low 90's, down from the 100+ weather we were having last week.

Then I get home this evening and see the news, and parts of California are all over the national news for having highs in the 100's today and rolling blackouts from everyone using so much AC. Pssht... wimps.

Speaking of work, I was on my way out today when this girl who was watching the door (for security reasons) very sweetly told me what I could get her for Christmas. We've been kind of mutual friends since I started there, and I though this was a sign of her warming up to me... so I indulged her, and she pointed into this magazine that showcased this MTV Cribz sized log cabin of a Mansion. She kind of giggled at my reaction, and said that not even her husband would buy something like that for her.

This makes the second or third girl I've met at my work lately that I took a liking to, only to find out they were married. But she confided in me that if I wanted to attract girls like flis honey I should get married myself... I told her if that's the case, I should just start wearing this sterling silver wedding band I bought in Mexico last year and see what happens. She just kind of smiled and shook her head...

The other tom was left at our Church as a kitten and was brought home and raised by us... this was the car I almost killed last year by stepping on him.

We need a camera in Proteas' bedroom to see what he does when you turn out the lights.

cats are awesome, I mistakenly drove off with my sister's car keys in my fiancee's car the other day so we had to ride (on my motorcycle) to my dad's and drop them off. My fiancee went outside and pet my sister's calico cat while I went and found my old cat. they are 15 or so years old now and still 20+ pounds and insane.

I still have my 1.5 year old Siamese...he's glaring at me currently.

I can't stand cheese. I lived for ten years in Wisconsin, and now about the only instance of cheese I can even attempt to eat is Mozzarella on a Pizza.

Cause, people say yes and others say no.

In anycase...
I love cheese. But I'm talking about the stinking reeking type that would normally make other people gag.

My uncle in Mexico makes this raw unpasteurized cheese that nobody in the family particularly likes. Its a "cotija" type but... stronger and less salty. Not soft, but not hard. Depends how old it is.

I cut a piece of that and eat that with a Persimmon fruit or some grapes, and I'm all happy.

Alright, I've slept, so I think I'm good.

We drove down to Atlanta on Thursday, leaving the house by 6 a.m. Tried to poison myself at a Flying J on the way down, that was kind of ick. Checked into our hotel at around 4 and went down to the Hard Rock Cafe to get con pins, then got into the huge line for our badges. The line was so long that we left Andrew to wait and went back to the room to change into our Men in Black costumes. The folks at the registration desk wanted us to get the guns peace-bonded, which is stupid - they don't look remotely like real weapons.

The rest of the weekend is kind of a haze, I confess. I made it to a couple of panels, got some autographs, and had a lot of people ask to take my picture in the Catwoman costume. LOTS. And one girl walked up to me and point-blank asked me if she could take a picture of my butt. A fair number asked for pics when Steve and I did Nightwing and Oracle (click here for a pic of me flipping off the Joker). Not as many people got that one, though.

Brent Spiner tried to convince me to leave Steve (for him, I think...), Erik Estrada was kind of all over me, and I made Jonathan Frakes laugh when I asked if he had any pictures of himself in pajamas with a toothbrush to sign. He said maybe next year. Got my dad an autographed picture of Gates McFadden because he has a huge crush on her. Oh, and by the way, Lou Ferrigno? A giant.

Got to see Voltaire in concert, too, which was really cool. I wasn't particularly familiar with him or his stuff, although I knew he had written Deady. Funny and disturbing.

It was all kinds of crazy, and a lot of fun. Steve has most of the good pictures on his camera, since several of the days I didn't have pockets. Had a great time, but I'm glad to be home. I need a vacation from my vacation!
