Assuming you meant "what's up man" as in what's been going on.. Graduated, getting paid a little to write, racing the car every weekend, living with the 'rents again, building a barn, and picked up a pup.

AFAIK, basset hound + border collie mix, with maybe a little springer spaniel thrown in. He's amazingly well-behaved, except for a few manic episodes a day where he'll get real teethy, nippy, super hyper, growly. The neurotic collie in him me-thinks, but will prolly grow out of it.

Proteas, you said you had pitbulls, didn't you? We grew really attached to this one pit mix at the Ithaca SPCA, very handsome. But way too much energy and work needed to make him a good dog.

Have you ever noticed 20 something year olds are the biggest whiny bitches about the show? It makes sense if you think about it, Bart and Lisa appeal to children while adults can relate to Homer and Marge. Once people grow out of the Bart and Lisa stage it's possible that the show does become unappealing to them because the adult humor is aimed at the generation ahead of them. I remember my dad laughing his ass off at a Moody Blues cameo while I sat there wondering, "Who the fuck are they?" It boggles my mind when someone refers to a show who's most parodied items are Citizen Kane and the Godfather as immature. The Simpsons doesn't need to grow with it's audience because it already covers a broad spectrum of age ranges, perhaps you just need to grow into it again.

Yeah.... we've got one that's three or four years old now... pure bred, and sort of a dark-chocolate/black color. The lady who we got her from had AKC papers on her, but they got lost or something when they had to move. She's a sweet dog though, still young yet... so she's highly energetic and goofy as hell.

I think she's really the epitome of the whole "nature versus nurture" argument when it comes to that particular breed, though. She was raised with Yorkshire Terriers, and thinks she IS one despite being 2 1/2' tall and weighing in at 70 pounds. She'd sooner pee all over herself in fear than attack the Domino's delivery guy. ;-D

We had a pitbull/black lab mix when I was much younger, but it went insane and ran off after we moved 4 times in a 6 month period of time. Poor thing.

I call this "bad capitalism"--
Because the whole fox line up was aimed for an audiance between 15 to 35... and the 20 to 25 age demograhic who grew up with the Simpsons, who would continue to be a thoroughly dedicated audiance if given the reason, are leaving thier favorite childhood show because it's becoming unrelatable.

I don't know enough of your life... if you can relate, of all the characters... to Homer and Marge. Being a fairly newly wed couple, not even with kids yet, is not the same as being middle aged and having 3 kids.

At our ages, we're still shifting around the world while trying to create our families. Just not in the same way Marge and Homer.

As much as we love Bart back in the early 90s when we were 11 or 12... he's simply not the same for us when we're older. We've moved on, while he stayed put.

Like I said... what a pity that none of the characters grew up like the characteers in For Better or Worse. Now it's all about unrealistic situations for shits and gags... instead of realism which are genuinely funny and often poignent.

What happened to episodes that were real back in the days... like, when Grandpa Simpson's girlfriend dies. Or, when Bart sings "It's Your Birthday, Lisa... Happy Birthday." (What a beautiful Simpson's moment.)

Or... when, Homer gives up beer and struggles with Alcholism, and chooses a bike ride with Marge instead a Duft with Moe?

The new direction with the Simpsons has definetly cut out those realistic and very emotional moments and now depends on pop cultural references which can be outdated very quickly...

I've never really been able to connect with for better or for worse. They rely too much on cutsey stuff. Like when the son was in college and learned to love vegitables, IRONY, or when the grandfather was in a band and the neighbors complained they were too loud, ROLE REVERSAL

That death episode was a good one. But The other you have to view in a historical aspect. A white guy claiming to be micheal jackson is trusted alone with children.

Well I think on some level cartoons have to be irrevernt to last. I mean south park does topical and social issue episodes all the time but they still have the crudity that made us love them.

Did it have all those seeds?
I love the fruit... the Mexican, Hawaiian and Vietnamese varities are my favorites.
The one from Isreal... eh--

I grow the Mexican type (the creamy yellow, very firm, tart and the most fragrant of all Guayabas). Last year's major freeze nearly killed my poor tree. I just hope this year won't experiance a sudden and freakish cold snap-- because if we did, it will definetly finish off all the new growth that my guayaba has put out. (Possibly kill it to the roots.)

My most favorite holiday drink is definetly an atole (a think corn meal gruel) made with Guyabas. (The ones made with chocolate are also my favorites too.)

And atole made with atole is very benefical for nursing mothers-- it makes the milk taste more appetizing for the baby while increasing the production.

Not all the tiime, but I understand what you mean.
But it had it's very sad moments with Farely died.

And when the April's bunny died.

Or when Lawerence came out of the closet. (Talk about real...)

It's a strip you must read everyday to appreciate every naunce that Johnston uses.

Yeah, but South Park uses a cycle... in one episode it will be all about social and political commenteries, and the next one is all about making fun of WoW, or Jay-Lo's competition with Cartman's hand. Though... it does lack the familial warmth to it, save that episode where Eric befriend's Stan's big bitchy sister.

You may had the Kern's drinkable version... I see it in grocery stores. Too sweet for my taste.

But definetly, the jellies rolls made from this are a tasty treat. The aroma is delicious-- like acacia, lilies, and mango-ish. The only thing I wish makers could do is make the rolls thin as a Fruit Roll Up. Usually, the roll is 1/4 inch thick, so it's sort of clumsy to handle and to eat.

I never criticized the movie, for my part. In fact, I have gone out of my way to say that I'm sure the movie is a great one, FOR FANS OF THE SHOW. And I have watched the show since 1999, I just haven't liked it in that time. I watched it all throughout college because there was nothing else on in that timeslot. Except for the rare clever line or punchy episode, I have not enjoyed it in that time.

There was a time when Lisa's liberal attitudes were thought-provoking and often humorous. I had thought that as I myself became more open-minded and socially liberal (through higher education, for the most part) that I would find more depth to her statements, but unfortunately she's not nearly the intellectual powerhouse she used to be. It takes next to no brain power for a TV writer to make fun of George W. Bush. The Simpsons should avoid the garbage that Brian Griffin spews on Family Guy and stick to the highbrow satire it used to master. That was the beauty of the Simpsons when it was in its heyday: a mixture of sharp intellectualism and slapstick. I was not just a casual watcher of the Simpsons when I was younger, I was a fan, and I no longer am.

I can go back and watch old episodes and still get enjoyment from them, so I seriously doubt that it's because I'm a 20-something who cannot "relate" to the show.

And for the record, I still watch the Halloween special every year.

It's like the opposite for me. You ask a simple question, like, "When did Rome fall?" and I have to go into a 30 pg analysis of

what you mean by "fall".
what constitutes the end of the "fall"
what you mean by "Rome"

And somehow arrive at the answer of 1453 AD....

Oh, oh yeah, I've seen those. I've often wondered if those were any good or not.

It seems like Hawaiin Punch came out with a guava flavored drink, recently. I got it confused for the Fruit Jucy Red last time I bought any, and was left standing there in the aisle going "the hell is a guava fruit...?

Second: Fli, your acting to much like an English teacher here. Your overanalyzing something that shouldn't be analyzed.

I mean, eventually you reach a point where you have to start BS'ing your way to make any sense. Just enjoy the show for what it is, and enjoy the moment.

I did get a call from one of my college buddies, though, so it wasn't bad. Apparently her boyfriend's moving in with her family in a couple of months. They may be getting married in May. This whole setup seems like a recipe for disaster, if you ask me.

I've also learnt that, for some reason, sons and daughters of people who formerly lived in exile tend to be insufferable pseudo-intellectual jerks.

Meh. I had lots of milkshakes when I lived in la Serena, anyway.
