I was also gazing at candle stuck in a devil dog. I knew flash photography would ruin the effect but it was impossible to set the timer right and get the tripod in place. I need to plan my visual gags better

Best thing ever.
That's what I should have done, I was running low on clean clothes yesterday... but alas, the rain did not last. It rained for like 30 minutes, then it was cloudy for a few hours and cool. Today it's back to being dry and irritatingly sunny.

I'm the same way you are. I think she got what she deserved, but I can't bring myself to go looking for video of the incident yesterday.
I got my brass zippo yesterday, which kind of surprised me... until I remembered that Smokey Mountain Knife works is based outside of Knoxville, TN, which is only like 4 or 5 hours east of here.

I'm pretty sure that was a tornado I heard last night. I heard the stereotypical freight train noise, so I ducked in the bathroom.
The power went out around 6 last night, and we didn't get it back until 9:30 this morning. A lot of places around here are stil without power. The whole thing was an interesting way for me to meet my new neighbor. He got locked out of his room wearing nothing but Jockeys, so he was following the security guard around. The guard talked to me, and finally the guy's like, "By the way, my name is Steve." Uh...hi?

The only time there was a tornado in La Plata, I was 7000 miles away, so yay.

3 miles. And it left a 6 foot deep trench 4 feet wide through a very nice piece of cultivated farmland, too.

Everything I've seen says that if nuclear shit hits the fan everybody is fucked. When you consider winf, soil, water and plain proximity they wouldn't be in good shape. This is not politics in the lounge. This is science.

But seriously, take a look at this: http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/gmap/hydesim.h tml
You can put in the lat/long of your locality and recieve a map of the effects of a nuke. Cool, huh?
Scary too.
About Switzerland. Apparently, "Two-thirds of the population live in the Swiss “Mittelland”" (middle land?) (http://www.greaterzuricharea.ch/default_en.a sp?pgn=/content/03/03_002en.asp), which was characterized as a plains-like area, not mountainous. Staff's probably right on the money for this.
