Hey Fli, not all of us are having fun this summer. I have two summer semesters to go. Sure, it'll be nice being on my own, and I will have some fun, but school's school, you know?
I've been emo/antsy since my sweetie is a journalist at the Cannes Film Festival. He took another lady friend with him. (He wanted me to go, but previous obligations prevented that.) From the message he left on my cell phone the other day, it seems he's going through the same withdrawal I am, but I'm glad she's "absolutely wonderful" to him. If she were anything else, I'd have issues with her. I'm kinda jealous he's probably sleeping with her, but if he gets to do that, I get to flirt with a guy friend who likes me. It's only fair. XD
We are comfortable about that sort of thing, though. Living several states away, there's no way we can expect one another to live like monks. Except me, the professional virgin, but that'll change this year or next. Anyways, we've actually discussed, um, sharing that same girl he's with right now, but I'd definitely have to be more comfortable with her and myself before I got to that point. She's a sweetheart, and there's no one else I'd rather he take (except me, but...). Apparently she's gonna help him pick out a gift for me from a French boutique. *SQUEE*
While I've been here, I've been sleeping too much, having sinus and hay fever issues, helping Mom grade papers, and signing insurance forms. Hmm...wonder if they have the stuff that triggers my allergies in France? This is always the worst time of year for me because of it.

I don't think I'm dumb so much as I am picky. I've had opportunities but haven't taken them. Hell, that may be dumb.

Probably, yeah. I've just been focused on other stuff. There was someone, but in retrospect, it's a damn good thing I turned him down since he ended up being a creep. But yeah, I have been macking on the guy friend I mentioned earlier. XD Not sure what that will lead to, but it's worth a shot.

Don't worry Rydia--
You aint the only person to worry.
I've worried my husband. And he's worried me. (We're still both good looking and still getting some glances. Not like when we were younger because we look like we've been married so to speak. Receeding hairlines, extra pounds (more of my case)-- growing old together stuff.)
Talk to him, you know-- real talk. If he still wants to be together.
Not now, but soon, you know. If you suspect him of cheating, then really talk.
My husband cheated on me. Once. In the most disgusting of all places.
I told him that I've forgiven him, and that we've learnt. But if he ever did that again, then he will force me to take on the role of a cockuld fool which I'm not willing to follow through. One thing is to get a seven year itch, but cheat once more....
Yeah-- I couldn't handle the fact that I'm basically "sharing." And then I couldn't be comfortable with his body because then I would think he's diseased. I'm scared of STDs (everyone is.) But I'm a person who would be celibate for a year to see if we're clean. I would break off our engagement if he strayed way too far. And 7 years gone, for me, would be a huge loss.

Well, fli, he keeps getting jealous if that other guy friend tries making a move on me or something. Like when I went to the Carnegie museum with him since I was in Pittsburgh that day, my guy freaked cause the other guy got to be around me and he wasn't. I don't even try to make him jealous or insecure, but he's said in the past he's afraid of me dumping him for someone else.
I do want to talk to him about that girl, though, as well as general stuff, like how France was. I'm not able to talk on the phone with him now because of timezones. I hope he doesn't mind me jabbering on and on on the 29th, when he gets back. I'm also thinking of writing him a letter. He said he's always wanted one from me, anyways. Of course, what to write is another question I need to answer. You'd think a journalism major/English minor could write a damned letter. :/

So he'd get jealous if you were with another guy but he's there with another woman. I am not nearly drunk enough for this conversation

What've you got? I'm out of booze. The tequila in the fridge was gone when I checked. Which disappoints me, since tequila is my favorite.
Like I said, I couldn't go, or I would have. They expected him to show up to the galas with someone, so he took the next best person. We get jealous of one another if we're with other people, so I guess it evens out.

Rydia, when you say that he's "with" her--
You mean business?
friendship?
relationship?
Because, darling-- if it's not a business thing going on and it's anything else... you maybe accepting less than what's acceptable of your boyfriend. Think on it, and say to yourself, "I deserve better. Either we work it out, or we walk it out."

Rydia it looks like your guy is a douchebag of the highest order, just break it off with him and find someone who will have respect for you. There's no way you're going to feel good about messing around with another guy when in the back of your mind you're still wondering if you're technically with doucey boy. If you're living like that you might just rob yourself of a real chance of a meaningful relationship.
It seems modern society has conditioned us to believe that a few months of abstinence is somehow abnormal and unreasonable "living like monks" as you put it. However if we look at how well the ideals of modern society are working out in guiding relationships I think you might find them lacking. If someone has made a commitment to you, it is ok to expect loyalty, that's what a commitment is. This bullshit that physical needs outweigh devotion is just a loophole for douchebags like your guy friend to exploit, physical needs can be met through internet porn and sex shop devices quite effectively.
And I'm not even going to get into the threesome thing except to say, find a friend and ask them to slap you accross the face.
So anyways lose a jerk and find a good guy, there are plenty of them out there.
Also if Stafff were to shave, get a haircut, at least own a tie and stop wearing dresses and dress type outfits, and use spellcheck, I would so totally go down on him, if not for my commitment to my wife and overwhelming homophobia. Just putting it out there...

I use spellcheck on my work, own a tie AND without the beard I look 12. So it would seem Befell is loyal to his wife dispite desires towards 12 year old boys. Commendable.
And I hate to say this without a female viewpoint but if Befell, Fli and I can agree on something it's worth considering. There might be technicalities of your realationship that we don't understand, and by all means correct assumptions on this, but you've given no indication that the realationship is "open" or on some form of break. I say this because you mention jealousy that would have no place in such arrangments. It sounds more like someone gave you the short end of the deal.

I really shouldn't be included in the drama, considering that my 2 cents are worthless (my only credentials are having sat through too many romance movies to mention...), talk it out. If that doesn't work, kick his ass.
Aaaaaaanyway...
Just got back from a 1.8 mile run--took far too long (about 16 minutes, give or take 30 seconds). When one is trying to meet the military PFT standards (not sure which one), it gets boring...

day two of my Wilderness First Responder course....
i'm tired. its 8am to 6pm with 2 hours of homework and studying a night.
it's interesting, but we have a quiz tomorrow and i really think that the amount of info they are giving us is so much that unless you have medical knowledge beforehand, it's damn hard (that's me). we have RNs and EMTs people re-certifying in WFR who are breezing through. i always feel bad for raising my hand and asking a question, like the instructors are thinking "this kid doesn't know shit!" well, i dont, but that's beside the point.
they've been using me as an 'patient' a bit, i dont know if it's because they like me or because i sit in the front row.
i dont think i have the confidence for this (yes, i know, scream "self fulfilled prophecy" all you want). I do okay on the practical assessments, but i never do things in the right order.
wilderness protocals are different than urban first responder or EMTs, and frankly i'm confused as to when and where and who and what to do when i'm out in the woods and i've got somebody hurt. fuck, if i do something and they sue, my certifications are through Wilderness Medical Associates, not Red Cross or the NYS health department...
perhaps i'm thinking too much, it's only day two.
i'm liking it, i'm not doing poorly, but i am always that little bitch of nervous which keeps me alert (that and the 3 gallons of i drink every day)
i miss you NG

No, it is an open relationship. He and I have discussed the open aspect of it, but he doesn't do anything without asking me first. He even asked me if it was okay to take her since I couldn't go, and I said yes, because I know her and like her. I've dated a couple of guys here and there myself during the course of the relationship, but I haven't really messed around with anyone, since I tend to have high standards. (Then again, those standards have kept me out of trouble.)
I have absolutely no idea why I was posting all that last night, I guess I just needed to rant. Fli's right, I need to talk to him. It's not necessarily that I don't trust him or her, it's that I don't trust my own emotions right now. If anything, he called me from the hotel room, which had to have cost him a shitload, as opposed to just ignoring me for a couple of weeks. We'll work this out when he comes back. It's been five years, he knows that I need to talk when I get upset. That's one of the reasons he and I are so close--he listens and remembers all the sometimes inane shit I talk about.

Anyone ever had one of those sports drinks called Cocaine? (Is it spelled different?)
From what I've heard it has 200(+?) grams of caffeine in it.
A friend of mine drank about 6 of them and his heart all most stopped.
Wut?

Supposedly they're absolutely horrid.
They had a report on the Daily Show and they had the creator of the drink drink one himself. He did. They asked to drink another. He refused. Anyway, the "report" ends with the reporter walking around the streets asking people if they want to buy "Cocaine".

i signed up for it simply because i wanted it. i've been job hunting and it may be the difference between not getting hired and getting the job, so in a way yes. also, i plan on doing something like forest ranger later on in life, so it's a good thing to have.
I do okay on the practical assessments, but i never do things in the right order.Hey, as long as you're not checking circulation before airway, you're all right.
i still sort of get "puddle vision" where they have a wound, i address it first. this morning i bandaged a non-excessively bleeding "wound" on the patient's shin before realizing there was an open pocket knife on the ground next to him, BUT i did it after an initial sweep for excessive blood (nose to knees). so i sort of forgot about the whole assessing the scene before getting to the patient.
i did better the rest of today
wilderness protocals are different than urban...Probably more intensive too, though, no?
actually, more lax. you improvise a lot more, the order you do things isn't as important, as long as you deal with lifethreatening things first and foremost. you're basically dealing with little or no chance of Advanced Life Support arriving or getting to a hospital for many hours to days - so you are concerned about possible problems later, that come from injuries, infection is big - we can't push antibiotics with our certs. i mean, if a patient has say, an inhaler or nitro for a heart condition, you can use THEIR OWN meds on them, but yeah, some of the things kind of go a little over the typical first responder protocols limitations
May as well do a first responder course through the state, too.
NY accepts it, but there is some legal stuff about working under physician's orders and such like. i'm not going to go out looking for folks lost in the woods when it's a forest ranger's job.

Oh, that's not good.
No antibiotics and no chance of ALS. Yeesh. They can teach you how to make a splint, but nothing but a good strong dose of something ending in -cillin will save the patient when they've got a wound that might develop sepsis...

which is why we are being trained to use things like EpiPens and inhalers. technically i'm going to be certified in anaphylaxis treatment, but they are also showing us how to give nitro to heart patients and meds to asthma patients.
there are higher certifications, WEMTs and paramedics trained for the outdoors, but who's going to cart in all of those meds when it could be some tourist with heart burn and a sprained ankle?
we can give oxygen, it's within our range of allowed things, but are you really going to be out on a week long trip carting around a 5lb O2 tank in a 10lb O2 bag?
