Reading Kafka in German.
Ach!
I didn't know you knew German... when did you start with it?

Well, it's not like he does a comic per novel.
It gives tons of autobiographical history, and how his Jewishness, family, self-loathing reflected in his books.
But it does put in comic form several of his books and smaller tales (even the unfinished The Castle story...)
But it's so goddamn great. I gave my book away to my friend Adrian a while back and I've been regreting it. Damn it... now I'm going to get it again.
If you think Kafka was weird...
It's weirder when you see it through the eyes of R. Crumb.

I meant I can't find the books I want in amazon, I was looking for the English version of "El túnel" from Ernesto Sábato, and I couldn't find it :(
There was "on heroes adn tombs", but that comes after el túnel, and it was like 50 USD, sooo I'll look in my local bookstore.
I found lots of CDs, though.

I remember the movie was playing in San Jose's movie night.
(Projector outside... everyone brings their own chairs and food...)
I never saw it, but I do remember The Tunel (English version of the name, of course.)
I've never read anything from Sabato.
Although, I'm not reading anything in Spanish except Los Bandidos de Rio Frio.

Yes, both Sabato and Borges had some of their stories taken to the cinema.
I never saw it, but I do remember The Tunel (English version of the name, of course.)

Well, amazon has the book in Spanish if you want to read it sometime. "On heroes and tombs" (Sobre héroes y tumbas) is considered to be the best Argentinian novel.
Then there was a book written by an Argentinan journalist who had the idea of making Borges and Sabato discuss everything but politics (it was a rough time in the 70s) which is also very good. But it is hard to get it here, imagine in the US.

You would be suprised...
MLK library in San Jose is amazing at having very obscure stuff. So weird.
I wasn't suppose to do this, but I copied a video.
It was I Am Joaquin read by Luis Valdez, and it's in ZERO locations. It was my one and only time oportunity, which is good because as soon I copied it... the original copy went lost.
totally bad, but-- it's so rare, it should be copied onto DVD form inorder that it doesn't become totally lost.
Albris is really good at finding obscure stuff too...
What's the name of the thing you're looking for?
I can keep an eye for it.

No, it's ok, Iive in a "college" city, so I've got plenty of libraries, and the book I was looking for was reedited a month ago, luckily for me because the last time was 1995 or something.
Thanks anyway :)

Well, I'm headed home today. It's going to be nice to see my family again, even my brother. It's also going to be nice to have proper cooked meals again, I've been getting lazy as of late.
Ow, damn that sun hurts! It's 9:50am, and I've had no sleep. I still have packing to do, and my mum'll be here in an hour. What to do...

I like the quotes from Castro. He does have a nice point that if we start using more land for making ethanol, what will go to the poor. but something is telling me that this buying of corn, with the increase of fields being converted to grow corn, that the US will still send out food to third world nations in the same amounts we have been, but will also start using corn for ethanol purposes as well.

It will mean more money for agrocultural countries, so it will go to poor nations. The ones that will take the larger portion of the pie will be the US, Brazil and Argentina, in that order. So it's more money for me so yay.

my school never used permanent record as a threat. granted we had the same superintendent (no principal in my school) since 3rd grade, and k-12 was all in one building, so it's not like your records are going to be sent from elementary to middle to high school. that and the kids already knew it was a load of shit.
