Does your car radio have an mp3 plugin on it, or is this one of those little FM radiowave transmitter deals? I've wanted to get one of those so I could get my old cd walkman to play in the car... I'm just wondering what the sound quality is like.

I think this ranks right up there with the Spind Doctor string winder as far as "Uber Cool Music Inventions I wish I would have thought of and made millions off of." Blegh.

It's a transmitter. you just set it in to a frequency that works for you and you've got quality music. I remember the day I bought it I had it hooked up to a station I listen to and million in one shot they were doing a remote transmission at a place on my way. Now I'm not sure if I interferred with them or anything but I could swear that when I stopped at the sign the dj looked up at me meanly.
It's been a useful tool because when I'm subject to an ancient dial driven radio I just put the ipod on the station I'm looking for and move it around untill it plays what I'm playing.

SWEET. >:-D~

The thought that I could use my car's radio to terrorize country music DJ's with Dimmu Borgir or Queen is really peaking my interest.

All I have is a dial driven radio, and it suxxorz when I can't find my favorite radio stations EVEN with the aid of the manual presets. I don't even have a tape player in my car, otherwise I would have bought one of those by now. :-P

Jon, did you use cassette before and if you did, can you please tell me how the quality difference is? Thank you.

If you're going to use my real name in here ar least spell it right. And truth be told the quality was about even. Sometimes I use the transmitter with radios at home when I can't be bothered to dig out the cd. In the little storage space turned weight room I have a pair of those cheap accoustic speakers I hook the ipod up to. For a small room It does the job and it beats the shit out of getting headphone wires caught on your weights.

I spent a lovely few time with my mom and sis today after they've finished doing their things.

But it's almost time for them to leave...
I'm offially 25... Just so hard for me to know that I'm twenty five... Anyways, I actually ra today because my back feels pretty darn good. Light calm jogging, and since I haven't really eaten today (been busy with stuff)-- I have this sense of euphoria that comes from fastening.

Anyways... I should make a quick protein shake and make some fish or something.
I got busy days ahead of me...

Thanks everyone, I feel content right now...

Anyone ever notice allot of birthdays are about this time of the year? My own is in 3 days...

It is the ninth month of the year...so i guess it goes to show that people fuck allot in the winter.

I wonder if its reversed in the southern hemisphere.

Maybe so, but looking at statistics, it seems to be more consistent with fall births, not winter.
For example, let's look at births in West Virginia in 2002, by month:

Jan 1700
Feb 1568
Mar 1709
Apr 1684
May 1787
Jun 1715
Jul 1890
Aug 1822
Sep 1792
Oct 1835
Nov 1620
Dec 1603

[Source]

The mean is 1727, the standard deviation is ~100.

All the months are with in 2 standard deviations of the mean. January, March, April, May, June, August, and September are all within 1 standard deviation, or 7/12 or 58.333...%, consistent with Chebyshev's inequality.

Based on just that limited data set, and assuming a gestation period of 9 months, most conceptions would have occured in October.

Conceptions, in order by month from most to least:
October
January
November
December
August
September
June
April
July
February
March
May

Note that fall and early winter seem to be the peaks, late winter and spring are the lulls.

Do you think that, perhaps this is somehow instictively hardwired into our brains, that humans have a "mating season", so that we procreate at times so that the child is born in warmer months, rather than in the dead of winter, like other species? Or is it possible that people plan when they attempt to procreate, so as to have the child's birthday in warmer months? Or am I just reading too much into this?

Hmm..maybe I'm not reading much into it at all:

Month of birth influences adult life expectancy at ages 50+. Why? In two countries of the Northern Hemisphere-Austria and Denmark-people born in autumn (October-December) live longer than those born in spring (April-June). Data for Australia show that, in the Southern Hemisphere, the pattern is shifted by half a year.

[Source]

Interesting.

It wouldn't surprise me if you were right....I'm sure there's lots of evolutionary traits left over, hidden deep within our subconscious (or maybe our collective subconscious...?) that we have no idea of.

You're an anomaly. =P

It actually fits in rather well—conception in fall, even if it is for a different motive.
